If your benching your own body weight you're doing well, being in the military overall body strength is very important especially on long operations. Last summer in Afghanistan I was going out on 2-3 week ops with rucks weighing 198-203 lbs without ammo and my weapon. Upper body strength is good but never forget the abs and the lower back. Everyone want the 6 pack abs and think by doing thousands of crunches it will happen, it won't, proper diet and cardio work-out are the only way.
At my 10 year high school reunion some of the guy who were fit back in high school were fat and bald and I showed up at a very trim 220 lbs.
I forgot, my best bench press is 8 reps of 345lbs.

Jesus dude,.... 8 reps/345lbs. @ 6'/220? Your not exactly, how do they put it,... aue' naturale', are you? It'll kill ya man,... I dont see how it could be justified.

I hate to tell ya Red Eye Racer it's all natural.I've been lifting seriously since I was 17. In my line of work I have too be as fit as possible. There is a lot of **** I've got to lug around. I'm also the shortest guy in my platoon at 6'.

I just started testing my bench 1 month ago and it has gone up 32 pounds. No I am not a novice, I have been at lifting for 6 years total, but only in the last 2 years have I started lifting heavy. Before a last month I had not lifted more than 325lbs. for 3 reps. But now In just one month I have moved up to 355 for 4 reps. I am still confused as to where the extra strength came from, but I ain't complainin', and I can now do 315 for 9 reps. I am a new member, and I have to ask has anyone esle had a strength increase like this, or have I found some secret bench press formula.

What in your routine changed? Something had to change...diet, schedule, lifting routine, ect.... Any ideas?

And welcome to GTP!

I now have a training partner, but for the last 6 months I have followed a training routine that allows working a muscle group once every nine days to ten days. My squat weight has went up dramatically too from 315 x 12 one week took a week off and came back and did 405x 6 then the next week 415 x8.

I am like this:

Weight - 145lbs.

Age - 15

Bench Press - 160lbs.

Now it is your turn. :)

 Well it's been about 5 years since I was last in a gym. I did a little warmup set and was barely able to put up 225lbs. three times...

That's a far cry from my 335 max of ten years ago... Nothing like starting all over again, eh? I will say that I have about 40 more lbs. of mass to work with this time around though. :)

Hit 495 for 4 on the flat bench and 455 for a double on the incline on wednesday...that's probably as heavy as I've ever gone on both. Which is suprising, because it was my first chest workout after a 10 week layoff where I didn't train AT ALL and took in less than 1000 kcals.

Congratulations Option. I am still working through a bone spur in my shoulder. My bench is off about 70 lbs right now. I am only putting up around 350 but it's steadily going up. I should be back to 420 by summers end as long as the pain isn't to great. I hate injuries.

In two weeks, from my last post:

Yesterday I did 175lbs for 3 sets of 10, then I did a 5 rep of 225, and a sixth with my spotter.

:D, at this rate I should be at 545 by the end of summer. J/K of course

He said he wanted to do a survey and if anyone else can do 545 with a bench shirt (I know not of bench shirts).
