I'd pay as much as €100,00 for a Special Collectors Edition if I consider that the extras featured in are worth it. If not I'd buy the regular edition game at the regular retail price for new games (€65-€69,95) maximum here. This in a regular release basis where you would even sufficient stock of games and both they were launched simultaneously.

if a fully done special edition was released this week, and i knew i otherwise had to wait till october etc.
I know if i didnt go buy it, my wife would hurry and do it for me anyways

If PD/Sony would ever pick up a scheme like that one I'd simply refuse to buy. That has a name and it is RIP-OFF!

We (consumers) have to be respect and every publisher/manufacturer/retailer must be aware that they exist solely because of us. A fair price and fair publishing policy, even if a little expensive (€65-€70 euros is, let's face it, expensive for a game) it's the limit.

Activision in there own self deluded wisdom tried bumping the price up for MW2 an extra £10 and all the stores on launch wanted a piece of the action .It ended up that all the stores were selling it for £24 approx .I love it when greedy fat companies try and rip us off even more and get fisted in the process. Lets hope Sony/PD try the same thing and it all ends up in our favour...................POWER TO THE PEOPLE :)

My voting ($100, as converted in my location) was based on the idea that the premium version would have any future DLC included :D

By the way, I must be out of the loop; I think £65 is well expensive for a game! I remember feeling ripped off when PC games jumped from £20 to £25 then again to £30, etc. etc.
Still, a proper collector's / special edition (with all future DLC for free) would be worth around £65 for me, and still considered a reward ;)

EDIT: just checked it out; RRP of PS3 games usually comes in at £50... ouch. Glad most places discount that almost immediately.

Jesus.. Maybe i missunderstood the entire topic but:

Isn't this a "what if" thing? As in, what if you could get it now instead of wait till december-ish. Not a big part of some marketing plan or anything, rather a "how bad do you want this right now" sort of question?

I guess it's language barriers, or lack of sleep. Either way i'd happily buy it anyways.

I don't see any reason for a premium version cost even more than a regular new title ( $60 ), Sony cannot increase it's own profit margin by charging on the customers. It will cost $60 which is a reasonable and obvious price.

Unfortunately, there's no acceptable option in the poll...

No more than what it's worth, I'll be a son of a donkey before they make me pay extra simply because they actually released the game.

(I.e. < $100)

i think my logic is right because if bad games like NFS S costs 60-70 euros than GT5 cant costs the same because gt5 is a other "dimension"compaired to games like NFS
its not fair if EA can sell a bad game for the same price as PD sell gt 5
compaire the graphics/cars/tracks/everything in this gamds, it cant be the same price its not possible...

Bad is utterly subjective and personal, what is bad is my understanding can be good in yours.

Gaming companies usually don't take development costs into account when defining prices, that's what I can understand of what you're saying, I agree with that. As a example, get Pro Evolution Soccer, anual editions, hot title price every year, what changes from one year to another? Almost nothing. :grumpy: Now look at GTA and GT5, development costs? Absurd. Price? Hot title price too. It's really unfair when you look from this point.

No. Well, yes in a way, but no. EA and other companies that pump out rubbish ought to sell their games for less but piggyback on the full retail conventions set by actual quality games like GT.

It's far more logical in my opinion for the garbage to be reduced in price rather than for the quality to be elevated in price. Afterall, if Sony charged more for GT then EA would charge more for NFS the next day.

Edit: And sure there is a healthy dose of subjectivity involved in ranking games, but does anyone here actually want to take up the position that quality itself is a 100% subjective notion? Because I'm pretty confident that that proposition can be shot down rather quickly.

Well if anything, the prices of "bad" games should be lower instead of making GT5 more premium.
If EA can make a "poor" game sell for the full price it is their chosen strategy and although it isn't "fair" or it feels like a rip-off that's how it works.
Next time you might think twice about buying an EA game perhaps and i agree with Dan that this is based on personal preference and highly subjective.
There is no logic to your suggestion, all music CD's or DVD's have basically the same price, just because some artist make better music/movies in your opinion doesn't mean they can therefor charge a premium.
They could do it, but it would be commercial suicide.

i say so because i want that every company gets the money which the company has earned
i cant belive that games like nfs will cost the same like gt
ea dont earned 70 euros for this game its not fair
GT works 6 years to make a good game and they get the same money like ea ...
you know what i want to say... unfair :[
ps: what is fair on this world ? i think nothing

edit

you are a little bit right too XD ,oki than ea have to sell the games for 30-40euros than its oki and gt can sell it for 70-80

ps: i never bought a EA game in my whole life ,i know that EA games are bad (nfs s was a present of my friend)

Well in Australia for a big PS3 release like GT5 I won't be surprised to see it for around AU$109-$119 and considering the current exchange rate thats about $100 US sigh..
In my experience of life Aus would have to be one of the most expensive places in the world. I mean look at the Nissan GT-R US$80,000 in the states and about the equivalent in the UK and Japan But here its AU$160,000 which is about US$140,000

Some artist/ musicians work years on one album and only sell a handful for the same price as some crap boyband, etc. who sell millions of an album which maybe only took a week to produce.
This is just how it is, and GT can't charge a premium for development time.
Seriously i love GT and have bought all their games but it isn't charity, they are just as commercial as EA, etc. ( although they've maybe got a different approach, and focus more on quality ) and make lots of money selling those games for the same amount EA does.
If you want PD and Kaz to have more of your cash, i'll suggest making a donation by putting some money in an envelope and sending it to their HQ.

Yes, i know now what you're point seems to be, it shouldn't be priced higher but the overal quality might be percieved far better than other games and on a different level.;)👍
And yes the world is unfair, always has been and always will be.:)

I would gladly pay $100+ for GT5 if it's a limited version, but if I was too late and never got a chance to buy one I will just pay $60 for the regular.

@westerbaek -Yeah, same here in Good Old Germany. We have to pay more than €60.000 for the new CAMARO, which costs about $23.000 in the States. €60.000 is roughly $90.000, which means I'll never drive one :-(
