This is how time trials should always be. One car, same setup for all but I'd maybe allow brake adjustments to make no-abs possible to drive. A real challenge and level playing field. More of this PD, please!

Did a 1:15.05 and then checked out the fastest times on replay. Ridiculous corner cutting at Chicago... Just how hard it is to make the track borders follow the lines and cones...? Haven't checked all the top10 replays but I consider myself the "moral leader" at the moment .

are you on about this? just did a recording of one of the cheaters lol

I have all 3 Special events golded 8 months ago, as far as I'm concerned, I have gold on this one too, and I still don't have the seasonal yet in Canada.

that looks like a major slowdown to cheat , I wonder how anyone can take that slower legitimally.

It looks slow, but it's a good 0.2s faster than the correct line. Did some testing after I discovered the shortcut. There's also a trick that gives you about a tenth to the first corner, but I wouldn't say it's cheating. You just take a standing start instead of taking the Gambon corner propely to start the next lap.

This event is ********. It's the only one in the game where you cannot calibrate the brakes with RA controls. You can't control cars in this game with a dual shock controller without setting the brake controller.

Has anyone gotten gold with the dualshock controller yet? I've managed silver.

So after checking the US site, it looks like the event is up. Can anyone in the US confirm we have this event now? I am at work so I can't check my PS3 lol.:yuck:

I'm now at 1:16.692 with using a DS3, TCS at 2, ABS at 1. I had that active steering set to strong as well but I'm not noticing any difference with it. It's meant to correct the back stepping out but when the back goes at Hammerhead it's all me doing the correcting.

As for steering wheel peripherals opposed to the DS3, they are a total gimmick. Yes, they would be very handy for the very precise steering control-acceleration balance out of a corner, but they lack realism. My girlfriend bought me the Logitech Driving Force GT for Christmas - I know how much i need to turn the wheel in my real-life car if the back gets out of shape, so I applied the same amount of opposite to the cars in the game when they step out. And nothing happened. Then I apply more opposite only for the car to flick the other way. The wheel was returned to the shop before NYE......

Yes, I'm in California and I'm doing it right now.

With a dual shock 3 and using the "shortcut" I've managed to get down to 1.18.2xx. This is going to be hard to gold with the controller...

After 30 more minutes I've achieved my goal - broke into the 1:16s.
TCS 2 and active steering on strong helped me.

1:16.734 / sixaxis [no cutting]

My theorethical best would be 1:16.4 but I'm pleased with 1:16.7.
Good challenge.

yesterday my best was 1:19:5xx so I went to bed very angry :D and today **** yea I did 1:17:7xx. I am happy enough with that :D

It is up In Canada. I just tried it and managed to get bronze, failing silver by 2 seconds. This is hard

So after checking the US site, it looks like the event is up.

Finally, but then....

I got on just barley before they network went down. 1st lap 1:18.087, gave me a ranking then next lap 1:17.668. It then said gold trophy but no ranking. So i exited the track and the message came up saying network down, rank not updated. Daaamn, have to wait, again. I only got 2 laps and one that counted 👎

Anyone have any tips for me on braking points? I can only manage a 1:19.020 with a wheel.

A couple of runs in Arcade mode with the driving line on (while not as ridiculously penalising as the event) helped me to the order of about 0.6 seconds. Still have to find a similar amount of time to get the gold though.

I won't even try this one then. When is PD gonna learn this lesson?

Got the gold trophy with a 1:17:909 using a DS3. I messed up the last two corners so I reckon I could get into the 16s at a push.

1:16.394 without the cheat.
1:16.014 using the cheat.

Both using DS3 with all aids off and manual transmission. The lap without the cheat was a lot slower in the last sector though.

I thought we'd get a ghost car of DC to 'race' against, but it's nothing more than a time trial (and why isn't gold DC's time?). That was a bit of a let down. My main problems in this event is a severe understeer going into the first turn and hitting the apex of the follow thru.

This will be a fun event over the next few weeks.

So we get a under-steery car on the Top Gear track in a time trial. Gee, I haven't done that yet.

I feel so underwhelmed now.

I'm at 1:18.494 right now. That red time bug is really annoying.
What is the exact time of DC, btw?

1:17.4 after about half an hour of trying to drive on plastic tyres without a driving line!

Quite good fun but lots of "nursing" it around - great car, great event. I drove 100% on tarmac, too!

Have ran a 1.15.7 so far, fastest time I have seen was a 1.15.1xx but it was invalidated by touching the red bit of track :/. I don't know how they can justify not getting penalty at chicago by cutting with all 4 tires, but then penalise for touching the red part with one tire. Oh well, on to a 1.14.xxx!

Btw is there a prize for doing this? I'm confused about this whole event so if someone could fill me in it would be appreciated haha!

Edit: Just checked some of the Japanese times, and the best lap is a 1.14.4xx :O

How do you get out of Chicago and Hammerhead with a pad? I keep upshifting to 3rd otherwise the thing turns into a hydrogen bomb on Comfort softs....

I'm at 1'17'4. That was after 30 minutes of trying and still not a pretty lap. The first corner and hammerhead are the problem areas for me. I feel like I'm losing .5 second in each of those.

I blip the throttle an unreal amount haha. Around the 1st corner I shift down to 2nd gear and as I put the power back on shift up to 3rd straight away, think it is quicker this way. But for Hammerhead and Chicago shifting up too early will kill the acceleration out of the corner, so just try to get the hang of blipping the throttle to the point where you feel no vibration in the controller. Having Active steering on strong helps as well (and TCS on 5 seems to help, have ran un-legit low 15's with both TCS on and off).

I'm at 1'18:446 after 5 laps. Should be okay tonight to gold it. The first corner is so easy for early braking and if i wait a tiny bit too much, it's in the grass lol
