How's everybody doing so far? SLS AMG event

I got a best of 1'18.897 when I did this in the room on Monday. There was a lot of distraction with Legard and Brundle and helicopter noise, pressure of all the folk there watching, and the pod didn't quite fit me.

Now that I'm home, using my own Playseat, I got a 1'17.230 on my 3rd lap... It was also squeaky clean too even according to the stricter rules and lines that we were running to on the day at MBW.

I would also like to say well done mate.👍
Maybe if they had done the seasonal event to a time limit of Fifteen minutes like what was allowed at the event then it may of thrown a different dimension into it?
I know people could practice on the track out of the Seasonal event but then to come back and put in a good lap in fifteen minutes would or maybe of added to the pressure somewhat?

Does it not remind you of the Lotus Challenge in Special Events? I feel this car should have had Sports Hard Tires. There is no way a SLS has cheap tires with that much HP & rim size. Does anyone know the equivilant from real SLS to what tire type in the game? I also tried with the DS3 & could not beat my wheel times. 118.8
BTW: I've been getting 117.2-117.8 lap times (DFGT) All Aids OFF ABS-1. I'd be happy to beat DC's time.

The organisers of the event went from RH to CS to match David's laptimes that day. I've got Pirelli rubber on my station wagon which are supposed to be the OEM tyres the Boxter (got them over the Internet and they were the cheapest in that bracket) comes with and have a V-max rating of 290 or something. They don't offer any super grip compared with the Michelins I had originally. RL sucks ;)

On the day when I had my laps in the SLS out on the Mercedes Benz world track.

This car is worth £170.000 I am never gonna get this chance again so,
I drove it like I stole it !!!!! (even though they told us not to in the briefing at the start of the day).
I found the car had lots of grip was able to push hard into the corners and at the apex get hard on the gas out of the corners with minimal overstear or loss of traction.
No matter how hard I got on the gas out of corners it just gripped and pulled and pulled.
To me the comparison between the cars balance and feel in game versus reality was pretty good but to me the REAL car felt like it was on Sport tires.
But to get the lap times equal you need comfort soft.
Just because the lap times match reality it don't mean the cars feel will match as well.

I wish that were the case with all time trials, maybe not 15 minutes exactly, but no more than a half hour.

My time. 1.17.013. Directional buttons X And Square. Traction 3 Abs 1 And Strong on steering thingy?

Today i got 1:16:855 with my DS3, Sector 3 was very good, but can improve in sector 1 & 2. So around 1:16:1** seems possible.

Just out of curiosity I wanted to see who if anybody wasn't be truthful. There can't be this many, this was from the previous page alone! Not saying anybody's lying but why don't we see the names on the leaderboards?

Your position can drop within seconds, even if your time was a good one. There's always someone as good, if not better, than you:dunce:

In general, of course.

And, if you were to list every person who hit 1:16:855, you would have a list of the same numbers.

If your position drops your lap time is deleted?:dunce:

edit: and how does that explain that you can find many names and their lap times even though their positions have been displaced?

Well, it's not shown in the top 250 via the GT website.
Duplicate times (although extremely unlikely) are deleted, as well.

If you sign in via GTmyHome on the website, you can find your time, but not those of your friends.

The times they are claiming would fall within the top 250. And duplicate times are not deleted either.
Have a look for yourself this time.

Thanks anyway.

Took a crack at this last night...

Wondered how 14's were being done so I had a look, needless to say that I'm totally unimpressed with how these times are being achieved, not sure who is on top now and to be truthful, I don't really care. Shame it was a (if it still is) a GTP tagged racer that was on top and worse still, someone whom I've personally raced against back in the GT4 days.
To me and by the look of it quite a few of the guys who have run this the organisers of this O/LvR/L event have dropped the ball, large.

On another note, well done daan for the run you made on the day. Nothing like a bit of pressure eh? :D

PD makes the lines, PD made these lines and accepted them, there's no grudge to be held on anyone for driving to the lines PD created as acceptable in this event.
Yes, I wish they'd be different boundaries too, I'll bet that guy up top does too, but it is what they make it, not the players who partake.

@ MarkWebber - Thanks for the video, unimaginable. 👍

This plus a million. The lines the "top" times take are just pathetic. 👎 I don't care if the game allows you to drive there. The track is clearly marked with a white line, as all tracks are, and we are supposed to stay within those lines. I cannot deliberately drive outside of those lines, and therefore outside of the track, as that goes against the very basics of motorsport.

I've posted my, clean, video here.

I don't disagree with you mate, I'd just like to see some honesty from those that "claim" to be fast. Actually drive the track how it is supposed top be run and set the time and no problem at all from me.
You can call me an idealist!! :D

@daan Nice run, if only all were like this... ;)

I admitted a few pages back to cutting chicago as well in order to get the Silver (needed less than a tenth). I normally wouldn't either, but the game is what you make it. Normally you are just against yourself and what you can do, but an online table like this naturally gets competitive. Sure, if EVERYONE taking part didn't cut the corner then all would be well. That is not going to happen, just look at those escaping the track for golds on other events. I would be annoyed if sat in second on times and found leader was cutting corner, but you accept that for what it is and take a moral victory OR you see what actually happens where people take the same advantage for themselves and move themselves ahead.

So what I will say on MarkWebber's video above, is that although using the Chicago advantage, the rest of the lap is on the limit stuff and brilliant to see the car on its edge! Thought Gambon was a disaster waiting to happen, turning in with outside tyres on grass :scared:

Ohwell the Japanese guys are still faster.

TFP_kart555: 1'14.303 Fastest wheel.
samurai_405: 1'14.521 Fastest PAD.

Not to mention Takeuchi isnt in at all yet...

This.
I got Gold cleanly, at 1:16.5, then for the time trial portion I cut chicago and dropped to 1:16.1.
Because the time trial portion will always be to whatever is allowed, there's no point in even discussing it, because it will never change, am I wrong?

Hi mate when you drop down the leader board names drop off.
If look at the bottom it states 1/25 of pages so it only shows a maximun of 250 rankings.?
My ranking ATM is 1063.
If you wish you can send me a friend request and then look in the part which says friends ranking only. Then you could see what ranking I am at.
Plus if you click on any person in there you can get to see what setup they used and what Driving Implement?
Thanks mate chat soon bye for now.:)

1:15.259 and I feel like I'm done with this TT if I stay in one second from 1st position (now +0.862)

Tried it yesterday and it was no fun at all. If a real SLS would drive anything like that horrible POS, there would be a lot of dead rich people around the streets of Stuttgart and I didnt see any. I m sick of this PD move that they re making cars handle worse than in reality so that the challenge is bigger. Or is the Top Gear track covered in butter?!?

Is there anything especially cool to win if you gold it? Otherwise I just quit this and never look back.

You rarely floor it when you drive such a car.

@DHolland - amazing lap there, sick time.

Also, WTF? Japanese 1:14.5xx on a pad??? OMG

Well I sitting in 185th place right now with a 1:17.349.

I'm really not sure how I can find anymore time. The more I play this game and the more I watch replays of other drivers the more I realise I have to forget what I know about driving a REAL car and just drive the game.

I mean come on, some of these 1:16 guys are making rapid down and back shifts in the middle of corners.....you can't do that in a real car it would unsettle the platform so much you'd be off before you even knew it!

Oh well.............I'll give it another shot after watching these vids and see if I can find time by doing stuff that is fundamentally wrong.

There's some crazy fast pad players out there..

Like that GNo-13 guy in 2010 academy :dunce: 👍

On my PS3 I do not get the Other times of Japanese or rest of world for that matter.?
Just Europe by the looks of it.?
Where can you find these fast times and what setup are they using regarding the PAD players. Becuase I think I hit my limit with it.?
Any way congrats to those that have some unbeliveable times with the PAD. 👍
Plus when I look in the rankings on mine, GTP_DHolland is at the top.?
But with the link http://www.gtdb.net/?tt You get to see some fast PAD players. 👍 (NOT THIS EVENT I THINK?)
Thanks Chat soon bye for now.:)
