How's everybody doing so far? SLS AMG event

Well I sitting in 185th place right now with a 1:17.349.

I'm really not sure how I can find anymore time. The more I play this game and the more I watch replays of other drivers the more I realise I have to forget what I know about driving a REAL car and just drive the game.

I mean come on, some of these 1:16 guys are making rapid down and back shifts in the middle of corners.....you can't do that in a real car it would unsettle the platform so much you'd be off before you even knew it!

Oh well.............I'll give it another shot after watching these vids and see if I can find time by doing stuff that is fundamentally wrong.

That's the magic of a double clutch gearbox - shift whenever you feel like it. You don't have to take my word for it though, it's backed up by a pro racing driver in an interview during the 24 hrs Nürburgring coverage from Radio LeMans available as a podcast.

When using my G25 with clutch I let the back kick out by shifting just before entering a tight corner.

So no problem I can see here other than lack of fear of dying

Europe & NA have different leaderboards due to the event being released at different times perhaps?

I'm golden with this one as well as of now. 1.17.767 (34xxth on the board) on a "warm-up lap" to get the tires in shape for the fast one. Really surprised the 🤬 out of me, because it was half a second quicker than my previous best and only my second for the day.

Just Europe by the looks of it.?
Where can you find these fast times and what setup are they using regarding the PAD players. Becuase I think I hit my limit with it.?
Any way congrats to those that have some unbeliveable times with the PAD. 👍
Plus when I look in the rankings on mine, GTP_DHolland is at the top.?

Samurai is really fast I raced him a several times 👍. One PAD user from Timo's link, Elder512 is now using a wheel currently in 3rd.

That's NTSC leaderboard.
Which has really low times.

I'm 1000-something with 1:16.7 in PAL.

I've done 1:19s and can't seem to get below the time required for gold. It's pretty hard with a DS3, and it's not helped by the fact that the SLS abunds power...

But from what I see there is different times for differents parts of the world we live in.
Yours in fact says 185th mine is in fact 1077 last time I looked.
Your time is slightly slower than mine? Thats why I questioned it.?
But with all the times in from different places we get a picture we are not truely in the right place regarding everywhere in the world times.?

Only spent half an hour, was really close to silver but got p****d off with the dreaded red timer.

On a good note, however, I went straight to the Suzuka NASCAR race (hadn't done that one) and found the big lump really easy to drive by comparison. I highly recommend it to anyone still wanting to complete the NASCAR events 👍

That happened to me yesterday when i downloaded and used a ghost from the leaderboard .

For me the solution was to use another gost movie hope it will help u .

Ghost car bug. Use another ghost or no ghost, otherwise this will happen on every lap unless you beat it.

And, if you were to list every person who hit 1:16:855, you would have a list of the same numbers.

I just done a 1:16.853 yesterday afternoon ranked 735! (prob 900+ now) using g25 & only abs 1!!

Hammerhead is killing me on trying to get the power on the exit!! Big drifts may look good but don't look good on the clock!!

The sub 1:15's must be all corner cutting!

Nobody is cutting corners PD have given the limits of the track and those are the same for everybody !!

The Chicago corner is defined by the white line. Go more than 2 wheels inside that white line and you're corner cutting. 👎

Yes the limits of the track are the same for everybody but if everyone cut Chicago 1) it would be less enjoyable, and 2) the corner cutters would be much further down the ranks.

The designer of the track in GT5 (PD) has decided otherwise and they are the Boss .

Everybody has the same conditions to do this challenge within the limits that PD has given so guys do not 🤬 get behind your wheels or controllers and try to beat those top times !!

I dont like this Seasonal Special Event one bit, I think the SLS AMG is too powerful for Comfort/Softs plus the thing understeers like a 🤬! that's just me..... I manage to clock 1:20:2

Agreed, plus the track is so goddamn boring after half an hour I don't have the will to attempt it anymore... the red timer is seriously p*****g me off too. 👎

I didn't realise there were different leaderboards either.....and don't really understand why there would be. There should be an overall leaderboard if it's the same challenge worldwide.....why not a worldwide leaderboard?

Anyway....I still think I need to "Unlearn" how I drive a real car on track (with a reasonable amount of success I might add) and just drive the game and start using tricks like extra downshifts causing momentary overrevs to get the car to turn.

We'll see where I end up.....

That's my point... I could beat more lap times but there's not much motive for me to carry on when I probably wouldn't get inside the top 10 with all of those corner cutters. (Don't know if there are drivers in the top 10 who havent cut corners but it's possible).

14's are possible without cutting. I did a 1:14.65x with only tapping the end cone on the exit of Chicago but I probably won't be able to set a lap time like that again (not that I will try to, unless they penalise everyone for cutting Chicago - which they won't ).

What i try to say if u are looking at the forum you see people complaining about almost everything .

We get a free challenge thats also set up very nice with a real car in real life last week and as soon as it is finished i see on this forum that DC has cheated .

What the "XXXX" do people want , use the tools that you have been given and enjoy yourself with them .

If for some reason somebody doesn't want to join the challenge no problem just don't join , but do not join and then complain for the simple reason that you do have the same conditions and the same tools as everybody else in the game !!

Always with every challenge of seasonal there is something wrong with it nobody forces you to do those things its up to you !

I think PD puts a lot of work in them and there also for free so enjoy what u get now a day nothing is for free anymore !!

Chicago shouldn't be taken like that. So with your train of thought that they decided to not penalise you for cutting Chicago, then they must have accidentily included a penalty system for all of the other corners.

You enter a race and you're told "You can start anytime you like, or you can wait until the starting gun to start running" If you start before the gun goes off, are you cheating? I thought we settled this a long time ago!! If the game allows it, it's not cheating! If you cant keep up, dont make excuses like you could if the others didn't cheat! That's so lame. I can't keep up even when I follow their line, but I am getting closer.
