I got Gold with a 1.17.8xx..That good enough for me..I'm done Thanks.

Yet to do a decent lap though where I feel I achieved close to my potential. Target is to stay within 1 second of the leader so might need to a time in the 14's.

Why are there drivers on leaderboards from outside their region, like Australian drivers on European leaderboards, Europeans on American boards etc.?

I think it depends on the version of the game you got. Some people might have imported it or got sold imports without knowing.

I didnt even know they split them all up, I just thought that the asians didnt care for TopGearTT, there are usually loads of super fast Japanese racers near the top

I completely forgot about the Japanese leaderboard. The Japanese seem to have a more exclusive regional leaderboard than any other one. Takeuchi01 and the Lacombe brothers have yet to attempt it, I wonder how low the times will go maybe, 1:13.7XX? I wouldn't be shocked if someone did a 1:13.5XX knowing how fast some of these people are.
 
I got a lap of 1:17.569 in the SLS ... but received nothing. It didn't even post it on my "online record". WTF? Am I missing something?

BTW ... the car handles like a eel on a block of ice!

Maybe your lap was invalid, you will know this by seeing if your time has gone red.

Now me and the mad scientist gotta rip apart the block and replace the piston rings you fried.
Ask any racer, any real racer. It don’t matter if you race an eel on ice or a car on a track, winning’s winning.
 
1:18.6xx right now with a DFGT. I restarted the challenge freakin 50+ times already. THE PENALTIES ARE KILLING ME :mad:

I'm not surprised about not seeing Lacombe, aka Ti-Tech competing yet, given his past history of practicing off line and then snatching the victory at the death tactic, but yeah takeuchi must have super high morals or something and doesn't like the idea of cutting as he usually is up there in the Japanese rankings.

I can't see a 1'13.7xx time atm, I think any sub 1'14.000 lap time would be close to perfect given the difficult nature of the last 2 corners.

Still top draw stuff though to do a valid online lap which is good enough for number 1. I'm sure you are also trying your very best, how much would knowing someone do a faster time help you beat it? Thibault is also very quick as you may know.

Takeuchi must have not done an online lap yet as he surely would have got in the Top 250 easily ;).

I think I got a bit head of myself with the predictions and I realistically suspect maybe the best to creep into the high 1:13.8XX. The best is already a 1:14.124. However I will not get shocked if someone does a faster time as Ti-tech85 did a 2:16.349 and it looked like he still had a few tenths which could have improved upon in GT Academy.

I'm rooting for you or EDDSKILL to win this trial. I think the best I could do is a 1:14.6XX but that is if I do my best sectors all together. So hard to get it right and I agree them final two corners are difficult, get too greedy, you go into the invisible wall, too cautious and you lose too much lap time.

New techniques might come up in the closing stages. Does anyone use the E-brake on here, I find it helps me for the final two corners if I slow it down just enough to use it to get the car turned in.

Gold was pretty easy with the dual shock with ABS7 TCS1 and AT. You really need to crank up the ABS to tail brake well (since you can't calibrate the brakes with RA controls).
 
what are your settings?? getting 1:18.750 and cant get any faster. got traction 3 abs4, manual, steering 7 and everything is left the way it is.
 
I finally got Gold with a time of 1:17.797 which is good for position 634th! I'm pretty pleased with myself. Tough challenge with CS tires, red times and with a DS3.

Settings:
AT
TCS: 3
Active Steering: Strong
ABS: 8
Controller Sensitivity: 5

Download a fast replay and play chase. For me getting the 2nd corner (Wilson) right was the hardest and turned out to be key. Also, as I'm sure everyone has experienced, there is alot of time to be lost in the last 2 corners (Bacharach & Gambon) so you need to get your braking point right. I used the green landing light just before the cones start on the approach to Bacharach as my braking point.

P.S. If the above fails, open a beer! It worked for me. Achieved Gold halfway thru my 2nd! :cheers:

Sooooooo we established that PD have allowed us to cut one corner and not touch some thing and cross some other White lines, 10/10 for observation!
Can we get on with the competition now then ? One of the few opportunities to match up with one another on a level playing field so let's make the most of it.
Everyone has the same opportunity, it's ok to cut that corner because you can (thanks for that PD!) and cross some of the White lines with half the car now let's get on with it.

Just had my first go at this since only just getting the net in my new house, I have a make-shift setup, managed a 1'14.8 with errors, it's tricky! I've now got the hang of what's legal and what's not.

I will try again soon.

The fact that you've driven a14.8 on your first try, that's impressive!

For some reason I still used ABS 5, in my new 2nd best Euro time of 1'14.296, now just 0.030 off EDDSKILL's time, and 0.172 off elder's time. I used a full throttled immediate gear 3 exit for chicago, a new thing I discovered that increases consistency for that corner. Was able to get mid .1's there minimum, even with slightly mistimed openings.

Best sector times I've seen are xx.000 and for sector 2, similar, xx.0xx.
 
After an hour or so I managed a 1:16.927. My next fastest lap was 1:17.403 so I know I could shave off another .5 sec. at least. I usually drive no aids and ABS 0, but we cannot adjust brake bias so I used ABS 1, and TC 1.

My 1:16.927 got me to 147th spot on the list. I know I could do better, not sure how much more time I want to give it though.

Edit.. using G25 and a sim-seat rig...

Believe I had a 1:16.043. Any who, its 30th at this exact moment. I put about an hour in and don't think I'll do anymore. Love the show Top Gear, but not their track. Sector times are showing high 14's, but its a whole other thing to put in that one perfect lap. Especially with this car on this track. Good fun though. Good luck everyone.👍

I always loved watching the Stig or Celebs take the Top Gear Track.

Durring the Lotus challenge I grew to hate the track myself.


This seasonal has brought back the love. I now am taking other cars... (including a spec version of my "real" car) and doing laps.

My times have gone down a TON. I really am getting a good feel for the track and enjoying it a lot. :)
