Nah he went way faster than I would go with the wheel. Try the combo, arcade GT-R Rome, 1'07.7

Edit: what you've gotta remember is that most people especially the guys interested in the driving simulation element not the gaming element don't want to use the pad so they don't use it much, imagine if they did actually practice with it !

I used the DS3 for a decade and am faster with a wheel after about a year's practice.
Not completely sure where you're going with this though, technically, the same times can be achieved with either, but the wheel is typically easier.

I was just saying Tidgney is very fast with a pad. Is that combo racing soft and SRF? http://www.gamerbase.com/?a=post&id=89225

However talking about something related: http://www.gamerbase.com/?a=post&id=95529

It is amazing you can go 10 seconds quicker with the same car using better tyres and I guess SRF?

There was no limit on any of the driving options. This one was just a case of making into the top 8, some drivers weren't at their limit. (I was though since I never ever use the pad and don't possess any other games!)

It's bs. The fastest time went off the track 10 times so how do they even register. If I touch the line it doesn't register me. They need to fix this. It's been like this for the last 3 trials I've seen. So far bronze only. A few 100s of a sec for silver. Apparently cheaters do win in gt5.👎

BTW, we should try to convince Veilsidebr to stop being a little bitch and use ABS, so he can have a proper go at this one.

I know how you feel about him crashing you at Monaco, but i´m sure it would be fun to have to old WRS folks going at it again.

Ps: is everybody using the extra space before the start of the lap to do a standing start and get more speed? It does have it´s benefits, but it´s a pain to have to restart each time, park, reverse, and then go.

I can remember Toivonen running a 15.2 with no ABS;) That would slot him in the top 5 ish, in NA.

The crashes at Monaco were a joke, he claimed he had lots of lag, but I think he was just WAY to aggressive, I don't buy the lag excuse also, as I could clearly see him set up each passing attempt from the inside, suggesting he had clear vision of the position of my car.

and why is it I get a better lap time when my tires are blue and cold?

Maybe you've just run more first laps than subsequent laps, making it more likely that you'll get your best time on a first lap. I know that's true of me. Nonetheless, my best time thus far (a 1:17.6xx) was on a second lap, with warm tires.

My feeling is that tire temperature probably doesn't make much of a difference on the comfort tires, which would make sense given their real-world counterparts act similarly.

magic happened, my wife distracted my playing, to earn me a gold time of 1:17:992, as I stared hard down the gambon corner at 300 actions per minute.

its really a miracle, for I kid you not, often times as I struggled to turn most difficult licence tests from silver to gold, when my wife scurried in front of the TV, or was present in an undulating way to have me think "hit reset" , I somehow got gold.

amazing stuff.

Interesting indeed:dunce:

Perhaps you're better when not-as-focused:odd:

Had a quick session on this event just now and finally did a time in the 1:14's. I think Davissi's current time is within my reach if I do a decent lap where I think I have done decent sectors throughout. I think I did a poor first sector, about 3 tenths off my best I've done today quite a few times. So annoying that I always seem to mess up the last section when you do good sector 1 and 2. That is mainly due to needing to use a bit of the grass for the final corner and you can mess up everything on there.

Where are the times in the 1:13's that people have been mentioning? On my leaderboard the top time is a 1:14.223 by turismo-lester. I'm currently ranked 10th with a 1:15.451

EDDSKILL has done a 1:13.836 .

Im determined to stay within a second of the best, I just got a 1'14.865.
Uploaded it only to see EDDSKILL's new time
What a lap! I'll have to have a few more laps now soon to keep within a second though:dunce:

That is my target too, I think I need to get in the .6XX to safely stay within a second.

Finally golded it, with a time of 1'17.2xx after 2 hours of trying.

I know it's been discussed to death already, but seriously, whats with all the cones on corner exits that force you to stay tight, the lines on the inside that don't match up with the track boundaries (I've been disqualified when I have two tyres inside the line). No cutting the follow-through either. Honestly, whats with the corner before chicago, in real life everyone takes a direct route from the exit of turn one over to the left for entry into chicago, that corner doesn't exist in real life.

Other than the track, I had no problems with this. The tyres were quite close to what i'd expect of it in real life. I actually beat 1'18 five or six times, but they were all DQ'ed because the previous lap was dirty, or I was on the white line into turn one or the follow through, or the back end tapped one of the lap-time-limiting cones out of Chicago.

Tips for people struggling: Put Active Steering on strong, it allows you to get cleaner exits out of every corner (And on that extra corner than PD put in before chicago too)

Whine whine whine! But it's completely justified because this track takes the 🤬.

I'm surprised it took a WRS Division 1 player so long to gold :sly:.

I might put on active steering on strong soon, see if it speeds me up to do lower 14 times.

The guy is a genius, with such a large field of competition to do that is very impressive. It's not just the ability of course it's having the bottle to finish off the lap that you're on that you sense is gonna be quick enough to go top.
There's actually very few players out there who have the bottle even though there's quite a few super-fast guys.

It probably helped him by doing his first 13 time yesterday and now he is just going for it without the 13 on his mind as much.

Doesn't Edward not play games that much too? Amazing natural raw pace he has. On the Gamerbase challenges, did he not just turn up on the last day and just go top. Amazing. I wonder if there is another GT Academy will he finally make the top 2. He has enough experience by now surely. I think his athletics helps him in GT with his ninja like reactions and also focus on setting the best times.

Wow, I can't believe how many people are in the 14's in Europe. That is crazy!

@daan, good idea, how about we all give it a go, following the rules of the actual live event, especially you Zoky. Give it 10 laps, with no cheats at all, daan will be posting pictures of how to take the questionable corners in a clean fashion.

And here it is.

He hardly plays GT ever so doesn't have a built-in knowledge of all the tyres and car characteristics that some of these others have, only when there's something worth bothering with does he have a go.

Who are these 'some" that have this built-in knowledge of all the tyres and car characteristics? And how do you know just how much EDDSKILL plays, online or offline? :odd:

Great lap EDDSKILL 👍

Finally!!!! It took me a little while, but I finally golded it. 17.376 ranked 411 and I'm super pumped since it took so long. The lack of a prize is sort of a downer tho, just cash which I don't care about. Also tips for people who can't beat it is get the ghost of the top guy and watch his replay in car to see where he brakes etc than load it and try to keep relatively close the whole time.

Those some = constantly playing the game, the GT5 anoraks and Ed cannot play GT5 much due to the intense level of time he has to put in throughout most days whilst doing his day job and if he's ever on the playstation its to play COD not GT5. I'd say he's probably got less time than me and I've got 3 kids a full time job working shifts and up until 3 months ago was studying in the evenings.

...knowledge...
If you need knowledge, then read and remember this:

...knowledge of all the tyre characteristics...
Tyres gain grip the more you use them, until they are "warm"
Warm Tyres give optimal grip, and fastest lap times.
Getting your tyres "warm" may take 3-4 laps.
...knowledge of all the car characteristics...
The SLS is very heavy. You need to brake much earlier than you would with any other car, and need to be very easy on the throttle because of the low-grip comfort tyres. Too much throttle will spin your rear tyres, and make you lose control, grip, and time on your lap.

If you need a remedy to the lack of "racing line", then do this:

SLS challenge>online rankings>pick fastest time(top of leaderboard)>select "download ghost>race.

The "ghost" will appear as a transparent SLS, and will show the proper way around the track.

If this helps, then tell me:sly:

what i wish PD would do for this race is make it a standing start like the actual top gear runs so that people don't reverse in front of the line and go 15km/h faster than me everytime i take the corner smoothly.

EDDSKILL, phenomenal time! And I now only want to join the 1'13 club when i next drive this combo.

Do i guys have a list of the members around the world that have dipped into the high 1'13s..? This is incredible, well done to you guys.
