Before everything, fantastic lap time EDD, truly amazing....congrats!

As for me I'm withdrawing. Tried to chase EDD today and I simply can't understand how he didn't get red clock at fast right after T2. By chasing his ghost numerous times I've hit it in same entry angle and speed and even more left of those red-white lines then him but still getting red clocked.....I knew something like that would happen in later stages and I'm very glad that I didn't spend anymore time on this!!

See you in some better time trails or even better online!

Just took out my wheel and did about 10 laps, couple of low 1'15 times and a 1'14.9xx.
Weird thing is im losing buckets on the follow through now, and do ok on the last 2 corners

Edit: Just crossed the line backwards, to get a 1'15.2xx :( I can only wonder what that could have been.

I'm surprised it took a WRS Division 1 player so long to gold :sly:.

To tell you the truth I think I over-qualified  I'm in no-mans land between D1 and D2, but perhaps it's best if i'm in D1 as it forces me to try harder. It does take me longer than others to adapt to new car/track combinations, but here it was solely the track that was the problem. The cones shouldn't be there at all. The white lines should dictate the track boundaries and anything out of those lines should be a DQ'ed lap.

It does take some skill to hook up a lap here though, this track is highly technical and from my running I wouldn't have thought sub 1'15 to be possible, so well done to those managing low 1'14s/high 1'13s as they are truly amazing laps.

I'm having a helluva time with this one, and could use a few pointers. I'm a decent driver, but not among the best. Normally I can gold the TT's on the first or second lap, with pretty much any car that fits the limitations properly. The only seasonal that's given me any real difficulty before this was the Subaru at Laguna Seca.

I think my biggest issue is the car, rather than the track. Has anyone got any good tips on taming this beast?

Active Steering set to strong helps. I've never had to use it before now, but it makes a noticeable difference. Also, I found it's best to let the car coast for a bit so you can get the power down quicker, otherwise you spend way too much time waiting for the car to settle under partial throttle before you can put the power down.(Again the track boundaries force you to be tighter than you should, which makes it much harder to get a clean lap - though it's the same for everyone I guess).

I just had to look up what that does. I'll try it as soon as the maintenance is done.

Thanks

1'13.2xx, first place!!! And then I woke up. Still can't get gold. I thought I was a good driver :banghead: I may need new adrenal glands after this challenge.

Are most of you using ABS? I'm trying to use no "aids" whatsoever since I bought a wheel a few months ago, but I'm sorely tempted.

And to all those who are pulling sub-1'15's without cheating, I take my hat off to you. I honestly thought that a 1'17 would be impossible.

I can't get on with this car at all wheel or ds3, much respect to anyone who can.

I would add a link but for some reason there not working, but according to the official GT site they are fixing the corner cutting and erasing the leaderboards, they also added that after this process the time trial deadline would be extended.

Anybody able to add a link please?

In the current Mercedes-Benz Driving Event from the online events section of Gran Turismo, it has been noted that it is possible to shorten laptimes by driving a line that is not intended to be a part of the track layout.

Due to this, we have decided to perform an update that would adjust the areas where driving is disallowed on the Top Gear Test Track, reset the rankings, extend the event duration, and redistribute the event.

This update will be next wek :

Sounds good to me, now we will see some real lap times, without cutting any corners ;)

Still will be in the low 14's though by the top guys, 13's will most likely be just about impossible to do. That means only 2 GT people managed to join the 13 club. I'm glad they are doing this, will help me learn Chicago corner better :sly:.

Here we go way to go guys another timewaister for PD to resolve for nothing its fine like it is now !!

By all the complaining and crying now more time waisted that better could have been used to repair the online gaming and get rid of multiple black screens ,disconnects ,false starts etc etc .

New tracks ,DLC ,truckracing and we can go on for hours looking at the forums not gonna happen because PD is to busy reparing all kind off stuff .

Guys that did those fabulous times on the leaderboards you have my greatest respect within what PD has given you there are great track records done !!

News just in.....it won't make any difference!

Why they have to do all these events without testing beforehand escapes me. Like I said at the start this whole thing from the live event all the way though could've been great but they need people who know what they're doing as event organisers.

I hope they put up some kind of prize for the people who have really put the effort in!

It has been noted that David Coulthard shortened laptimes by driving a line that is not intended to be a part of the track layout.

Due to this, we have decided to make David Coulthard redo his laps.

We sincerely apologise to David Coulthard who has already participated in the event, and ask for his patience and understanding.

"I can't believe this crap"

OK. So...you get another million for beating the gold time, and maybe some prize added...?

I found it slightly underwhelming that you didn't get anything other than credits. Because comparatively, that was a pretty hard challenge that would deserve a nice prize.

It depends on what you consider important in OLR. For myself and many others the integrity of OLR is very important indeed, and I for one applaud them for taking the time to fix the problem and reset the leaderboards. 👍

Yes I'm looking at it now and I still have gold, but the notice says all the lap times have been reset and it has been extended so I guess if you didn't gold it with cutting the track a bit than your gonna have a lot harder time Golding it now lol

I actually had just stopped trying as I was so annoyed with the amount of dip****s that were cutting the track. Guess I'll give it another go if PD has actually stepped up. (That's a first)

Yes!!! Finally got Silver with a time of 1:19.988 with a DS3. 👍 If any other DS3 racers are having trouble with this, it helps to use active steering, and increase ABS from 1 to 3.

Anyone have recommendations on when to shift? Redline? Past redline? 7500? I've been studying the tuning area to see but my little brain gets distracted by all them graphs.:dunce:

Also, would those who have a feel for these things guess that the car is just a stock SLS AMG, same as what I could buy in the NCD? I would like to buy one and practice on the practice track if so. I know my current line must be screwed because I'm just not getting the times.

Third, I have seen people write that you need to do a few laps to warm up your tires -- I've been resetting an awful lot. Is this true? Should I just continue on without resetting to "warm the tires" or is that a load of commie bull?

Lastly, does anyone else have dents in the wall from banging and banging your head against it? :ouch:

Shift as close to the rev limiter as possible, yes it's just like the one from the dealer, no I don't believe with tire wear "off" warm tires help at all, though others disagree.
You should however, continue lapping as many laps in a row as possible, because it helps in learning the whole track, and getting into rhythm.

Once the time goes red I have been restarting. I still am not below 1:21 yet :D

I need some lessons from Gregor Huttu ;)

This 👍

And remember to try different braking points too, if you're braking too early and not taking a turn fast enough, your times will be WAY slower.

And yes, the walls here have a ton of holes in them from me smashing my head into the wall after my next lap got "Invalidated." :banghead:
