I might have a son in January and I want to name him

I believe he has options now, good and bad. I don't even use my first name, so make sure the second name is good.

My boy's second names are Aramis and D'Artagnan...so don't listen to me.

Who cares what the name of the kid is?* You just need to have 2+ boys. Then whenever your wife takes the kids out, it will be Mum Ford and Sons.

* If you feel passionate about Ayrton and your wife is up for it, go ahead. I can think of (and have discussed at length with Mrs Barra) lots of far worse names.

Personally I think calling him Ayrton is really stupid. Good for you you like Ayrton so much, don't punish your kid with it..

How about Henry if it's a boy?

Mary if it's a girl.

Nice, simple inoffensive names.

I've met a kid named Ayrton who had the last name Senneca. He saw the smile hit my face when he introduced himself and just nodded and said "my parents were F1 fans."

If it helps, none of the kids seemed to have any trouble pronouncing it or made a big deal out of it. It's just his name and that's how it is.

If you like it, the wife approves and you feel like you could look your kid in the eye the day he finds that video than by all means do it. You'll be putting a smile on the face of every car guy he ever meets.

Alternatively, you could honour a family member or consult the long list of Ford names people have suggested. Sierra, for a girl, has a really nice ring to it. As does Carroll for both sexes.

Just don't call it Escort. Or Explorer. Or Escape. Or Probe. Or Kuga.

In light of recent events, why not Jules?

And if he grows up not being a race fan there is always an alternate.

What about Formula, McLaren, Lotus, Tyrell, or Benetton?

I'm this subject if I have a son I think I'll name him Harry. (My last name is Bush):sly:

So do you have any idea on the gender yet? If it is a boy, I would go with your first gut feeling of Ayrton. Personally I'll be naming my son Cole, the first at least. To carry on the namesake. Not many Coles that I know of. I've met three personally. Cole Custer, then two guy who went to my highschool when I was a senior and they were freshman. If it is a girl though, I've always liked E and m names. Ellie, Emily, Ella, Maddie, Maria, and not a typical name. But Marlow is the name of a boy or girl that would work.

Names I'd name a boy (I so far only have girls) would be Zack, Julian, Lucas, Oliver, Jack and those are the few off the top of my head that me and my wife have agreed on when and if we get a boy (which wont be for a while).

Ayrton is now 7 years old and he likes his name. He knows that Ayrton Senna died in a crash while racing but doesn't want to know the details.
Wow, time flies!

In retrospect, XR2i would have been a very Elon Musk kind of name to give him.

I'm glad to hear he likes his name. However this was a missed opportunity. You should have planned to get him interested in working at Ford and named him "President and CEO of". Then on the day he shows up as an intern he could fool security with his name tag and take over the entire company. You'd both be set for life.

I'm enjoying a playthrough of the addictive videogame RPG Eiyuden Chronicle Rising and one of the side characters has the same name as young master Ford.

We needed some closure on this subject.

My wife wasn't letting me near the idea naming our kids.
