Nah, just doing research for my car, finishing moving into the new place, hanging out with friends. The usual stuff. :)

Another pic of it, with my roommate's SUPER clean stock '86 hatchback in the foreground: http://home.earthlink.net/~bryan64/...earandfront.jpg

Nice AE86's. What's it say on the side? Twin Cam 16?

seriously, yeah if u watch TNN, theres a show called super2nr tv, which has a buncha white guys talkin about imports, and using such "hip" lingo as tight, sweet, and niceeeeee, its so retarded, anywho, the hot version best motoring is pretty good, i have the one where the 2 AE's race the R34 GT-R, and i have the super car race with all the lambos and stuff, and the japansese car race witht eh NSX, RX-7,EVOs,and the Skylines, hopefully import culture will catch on, not in a 2 fast 2 furious way, but really, ppl need more appreciation for drifting and such, but its america, its a friggin meltin pot of cultures

I get American T.V. (thank you DirecTV), but I rarely watch T.V. What times does it go on? If it goes on at 5:00PM, then it would be 6:00AM in Tokyo. Hopefully it goes on late at night so I can watch it in the morning. I get Speed channel, but everyday is Nascar this, Nascar that. How do Americans love that sport so much? It really involves little skill. The only things that you get in the U.S. that are good are: D1 (of course), LeMans, F1, and I think those 7000hp top fuel drag cars are neat, so I will say Top Fuel Drag Racing. We don't get anything close to that, but not many people here are into drag racing. I'm not really into it. People car about how fast their car can go from 100km/h to 300km/h (highway).

Super Tuner TV [I think that is what it's called] was on starting four hours ago and the show ended an hour ago. It's still Sunday here in California and I just watched it. Not a good show as Best Motoring ..

My dad got lazy on us, and he postponed the brake lesson until Wednesday. But I know why he postponed it. To balance the brakes out, it's all ran by a computer. He forgot to pick up the computer for that. And really, really, REALLY good news. I'm taking my car to a dyno today. This guy I did some engine work for just got a brand new dynometer installed in his garage yesterday. He just called me up and asked if I'd like to be the tester car for it. I agreed (beats paying for it). It's 9:30AM, so I'll head out in a few hours. I'll finally be able to get an accurate reading. My best friend is taking his Levin also. I asked my dad to go with us, and he looked at me funny, and went back to watching T.V. Typical of him... But it'll be cool. Here's my estimate:

217ps @ 9000rpm. I don't really care about torque because my car is setup for downhill, and you don't really need lots of torque.

I'll still be online for a couple of hours, or I'll play some LFS.

oh yeah and heres a pic jsut 4 u tom, yep thast a CRX and looky what it says on the banner

That came from the Rice Boy website, right?

The website's original. I guess it sums up what ricers do over here

Yeah, GT-S TwinCam 16.

BTW I play LFS too, although I haven't had a lot of time to really get into it yet. Made one autocross course, still working on getting credits for the turbo RWD car.

I still haven't bought it yet, I will probably in a week. Just race 11 AI guys for one lap. That's how I got the XR GT Turbo (looks JUST like a Starion). When I buy it, maybe we can play online, that'd be great.

Anyways, I went to the dyno last night and got some OK results. Out of three runs, I'll put what my average power is.

Power: 209ps @ 8900rpm (not bad, was hoping for more)
Torque: 24.5kgm @ 6800rpm (higher than I expected)

My best friend got better results.

Power: 252ps @ 9100rpm (I hate him now, doesn't matter because I always beat him)
Torque: 29.7kgm @ 7400rpm (really high, great for uphill)

But I realized that he spent a lot more money on his engine than I did. If you know about Formula Atlantic, then you will understand that to build that engine, costs more than my regular AE-101 4A-GE. So this made me come to the conclusion that I want the TRD Group A engine. If I start working for TRD, I have a better chance of getting this engine, but it'll cost me around 2,300,000 - 2,500,000¥ with connections for it (****load of money). But those are my results, and I'm happy with it. Power isn't everything, but I can never turn down more power. I'll ask my dad if I should use more power, but I know he will say no. Oh yeah, I asked my dad if he would go for the last time, and he said sure. I was so happy, then he said, "I'll ride with you." You guys have no idea how bad I want to know about his engine, but he's just like that...

Wow, those are good numbers for a Trueno compared to some of the AE86s that I know. What mods did you put on your engine?

What's the currency exchange from ¥ to US$? It sounds like a lot, but I guess if you put your heart to it, you can get it. Especially with your dad by your side ;)

Fathers. You're lucky to have someone so committed into what you are so interested in. Congrats 👍

Did MADBOOST Find A Trueno YET????

MADBOOST probably found what he was looking for. Either that or he's given up here in the Forums because of the feedback about how people just want something well-known. After that, he disappeared :)

I will list all the parts in my engine from my website as soon as I get some time to think about it. I'll tell you one thing. Everything in my engine, is made by TRD. Nothing else. That's why everything works so good, and I get a smooth engine that revvs all the way up to 9800rpm. With some work, I can make my engine revv to 11,000rpm just like the Group A. But that will be useless without more power. My best friend's Levin is all Formula Atlantic. If you look it up on TRD's webpage, you will see the list of parts and the price of the parts. I got them all for about 1/2 off.

It's about $20,000USD for the engine. Like I said, I will need some serious connections to even find this engine. Since TRD has to build the parts (nobody has these parts on back-order) when I want to buy them. But if I get on Best Motoring, I will definately get the engine. But that will never happen...

Yeah my dad's life is based on racing. He can make any car go fast, and that's why he picked the AE86. He knew from day 1, that it's light, has a great engine that comes from the factory, great weight balance, and RWD. Then he got all "suicidal" and got the fresh 3S-GTE. When he got it, it looked like a crate motor (never used). I asked if I was going to work on it, and he told me as nicely as possible that it was a big hell no. So he worked on it, closed garage, and locked his garage up so I wouldn't check it out. We have a 3 car garage, but it's separated. So it's like having your own individual garage. But he's happy that I'm happy and he's the reason that I got my job.

Yeah he stopped answering before I even got on this thread. I hope he got one, and I hope he's unhappy with it.

That's what you get for working in a Toyota dealership and being a mechanic :) It seems like you really admire your car and the way it turned out. I would act the same way, but I guess I'm too young to know the way racers like you can put so much work into your cars. It just amazes me. In the US, especially in the Bay Area, it's hard to find some good quality time to spend some effort on a hobby such as cars unless it's for a living. Competition here is harsh because all the high school students want to go to universities like Stanford and the UC schools [a public university system that's top in the nation]. Probably when I get a job and I can finally settle, I'll work on my hobby of getting a car and start working on it. Until then, I'm looking up to you :)

Haha, it will, soon enough. If you continue to be the best, then you'll be the first Italian person to be on Best Motoring 👍 $20,000USD?!?! Well, since you're a hardcore racer, it's worth it :) How long do those engines usually last?

Yeah my dad's life is based on racing. He can make any car go fast, and that's why he picked the AE86. That's good. The experience you went through made you a good person, and that's why your dad loves you. So far, it seems like you and your dad are a team that has been through the good and bad times and learn through those bad times and I admire that. Keep up the good work :)

Haha, I think the correct term is "poser"

Just got back from the store...

Until then, I'm looking up to you.

I appreciate it. I've never had someone that looks up to me for anything (except fixing their car).

I hope it will. The show is really limited to Japanese people though. I had to do something really, really special to even be on the show. Yeah $20,000 is a lot (more than a decent car), but it's worth it. The engine will have to be rebuilt every now and then after hard running, which isn't a problem because it'll give me something to do. But running costs aren't going to be pretty. Therefore, I'll be spending my entire paycheck just to keep up witha maintence and fuel for that engine.

That's good. The experience you went through made you a good person, and that's why your dad loves you. So far, it seems like you and your dad are a team that has been through the good and bad times and learn through those bad times and I admire that. Keep up the good work

Touching... almost made me cry... I know my dad has his reasons for not letting me near his car (he treats it like an antique Ferrari). What I think is, he doesn't want me to get "power hungry." If I started out with that power, I wouldn't be as good as I am now, because its 90% car, 10% skill. With my car, it's about 50% car, 50% skill. The setup on my car is absolutely perfect and that's a huge factor when it comes to winning races. I will continue to keep up the good work. Thanks Thio.

I forgot to say this. I went to the store to pick up a few things to eat, and on the way I saw silver BNR34 with a Do-Luck aerokit on it. It was sweet looking...

nice avatar thio... STi????

anyways... once you get into college you will have time to fool around... you just wont have money... even if you work lol... even if you have a car worth doing anything to... lol... but i garantee you will have time no matter your major and how many units you take... you will have time to piss away...

bengee: Yes, it's a STi. I'm becoming a fan of it, so I decided to change my avatar :)

My parents will be there to support me, so they'll help me financially on the necessary stuff, but not on anything else like modding my car or anything until I get out of college and get a stable job. Until then, high school feels like an inferno. School starts in 3 weeks and I still need to read my summer reading books, so I'm feeling irked right now

Deity: Is a BNR34 the four door version of the R34? That car looks sweet :D It's practical for a family and it has a slightly lower performance than the R34.

hahahah.... i never read summer reading... hahaha what a joke lol... but then again i was ok with b's lol.... funniest thing i got an a on one of my summer reading pj's without doing **** the first day of school i wrote a poem for some **** and got an a all on what ppl told me lol.... anyways... that blue is the color WRX i would get... that or black
