man, Deity.. you wealthy S.O.B :D ..
Damn, I wonder to live your life... it would be a dream... can't even find a decent 240SX with LSD here in Canada... not just saying it is still with KA... sigh....

Guess I gotta find a 240sx without LSD then... plus how am I supposed to get a Sr20?... god... I admire you Deity.. haha

I'm planning to buy a 180sx, then converting it to a sileighty. Do you think its a good beginners car?
what type of engine do you think is best for drifting?

Hmm.. How much yen is a 180sx over there? Was thinking of going over to japan for a holiday and buy one. Might be staying for a couple of months, then import it back to AUS.

If i dont have the thrill and rush from a touge battle one day, i dont think i can ever live! :banghead:

Man, can u say that this thread has gone far from its title or what. Guess its alright tho, so keep up your discussion.
I know it has... but I like talking on this post and this post only.

The stock LSD on the 240SX (S13? S14?) is weak. SR20's are cheap if you come and pick the engine up yourself. Importers need to make a living, but they charge ridiculous prices for the most sought out engine in the U.S.

180SX is a perfect car for a beginner. As long as it has a LSD, you can drift fine in it with the stock engine. The CA18 is weak compared to the all mighty SR20DET. The SR20 is probably the better engine for drifting. Did they come out with Sil-eighty's in AUS? If they didn't, you can pick up a 1994 RPS13 Sil-eighty for about 800,000¥ that's in decent shape. A perfect Sil-eighty that's stock and never abused is about 1,000,000 to 1,200,000¥ because it's a very hard car to find. You must come to the touge battles when you visit... well depending on when you're coming. In mid-October... no more battles... damn weather... You have to try out a couple touge runs. It's fun. ;)

Yep... I'm not feeling that great this morning... so I stay home. Ugh I have nothing to do, I don't feel like driving, I don't feel like playing games, I don't feel like doing anything but typing stuff... man I need a woman. ;)

How the **** did your dad get enough money to get them damned cars..I'm not searching through how ever many pages to find out...

My dad always had lots of money when we lived in the States, when him and my mother split up, we moved here because he was given a shot in racing by a friend of his, which basically started him off. He made what he could racing (legal and illegal), and just stopped one day. Now he just helps me out and hopefully I'll get the same shot that he had. I don't know what he did back in the day... we don't have the usual father/son relationship that 99% of all people have. He's weird.

-Tom

damn typos...

What's he do at General Motors? Mechanic? I have no idea what the hell a Sunfire is... I don't know GM's or Ford's or Dodge's... basically I don't know jack **** about American cars... except the Corvette. I like Corvette's...

SR20DET in Canada... I don't know. I'm not sure I understand fully of what you're saying. Is it impossible to get the SR20 in Canada? Or is it impossible to use it, due to emissions or something. I'm tired... sleeping now.

Thanks alot for the help Tom.

I was hoping to do a automotive course next year,
while working part time. Witch course do you recommend me doing tom? ( drift specs )

Gotta save myself as much money as i can for the trip to japan, Including my car. Without going out at all!! :( So ill probably come over sometime in 2005. Would you be kind enough to show me around? :O By any chance would u know where i could get the cheapest rent for a small apartment?

Mayb some of you guys might think im crazy, because im going over to japan just to buy a car. But my dream is to have the life style of a touge racer, and im not gona leave it as a dream... ;)

Hey Tom, I haven't posted with you for a while :p lol

I had a conversation with one of my classmates and he was in support of German automaking, so he obviously said that Japanese cars suck because they are so slow compared to the V8 powered BMWs. I sort of got pissed off because I had a NSX-R as my wallpaper and he almost took it off [this took place in computer class] and on his desktop he had a BMW M5. I was really pissed off because Japanese cars are good for high-revving engines and turbochargers, but German cars are better for their quality, not for power. And then he was totally owning the conversation like "JAPANESE CAR SUCKS AND YOU KNOW THAT!!!!!" I just want to know from your view on how to prove him wrong :D

Hey, if we can get the SR20DET here in the Philippines, I don't think Canada would be any problem... ;)

I don't understand what you mean by (drift specs). I honestly don't know how the schools in the U.S. are, but I would start out with a basic class in engines, and a class in aerodynamics (really, really neat if you know what you're doing with aeros). If you're really serious about coming over, I can take a couple days off work and show you around. Hotels in Tokyo are too expensive... I have two extra bedrooms in my house, I'm sure my dad will have no problem with you staying here. But that's in 2005, so we have a long time to talk this over. I don't think you're crazy. There're some kids out here that went to the U.S. to buy those large displacement muscle cars that you have there (Vipers, Camaros, Corvettes, etc.)

I know... what's wrong with you ;). Your classmate, like every human being, has his/her own opinions. If you compare a Honda NSX-R to a BMW M5... each side has their pros and cons. The NSX is light, pushes 280ps, and does the 0-400m in 13.4 seconds if I'm not mistaken. Some people think midships are a disadvantage though. I've only driven a midship once, and it was a 1995 SW20 3S-GTE and I didn't like the characteristics of it's handling abilities. Sure it's great off the line, but some people cannot turn as well as a FR. Just tell that person to wait two years... see what the next Supra will do to the German cars... German cars do have a better quality than Japanese cars, look at the price differences. Comparing the two cars will have different results depending on the conditions. For instance, The M5 vs. NA2 on a circuit. NA2 is sure to win if both drivers are equal. On the highways, the M5 would win if it didn't have the speed limiter to 155mph. It's hard to explain this in words, but the only thing that person said that was true is that Japanese engines are good high-revving engines, compared to a 5.0L V8. I'd take an M3 anyday though...

Yo tom, your away message says...

I'm tired... I feel like commiting suicide...

-Tom

and you're idled.
It's an inside joke with some friends I have in the States. Don't worry about that...

-Tom

By the way, I'm taking today off as well, even though it's 4:55AM...

If my dad had the resources to build our own aerokits... we would. I have some sick sketches somewhere for some "rebodies" for some cars... like the AE86.

Finally, looks like my luck's turning around. On the way to work today, I spotted a very nice pale green Silvia S13 on the side of the road with a tidy 'for sale' sign in the window. I'll be calling up the seller this afternoon and getting a quote for the price, so fingers crossed that I can get this.

I dunno, thought the crowd here might find that a little interesting. It's no achievement like Tom's Sileighty, but everyone has to start somewhere... now the trick will be to check what engine it has in it before I buy it, check the quality... and then see about how hard it'll be to procure some peices-parts along the lines of a better intercooler, then the famous SR20DET... that's just a rough guess. But yeah, looks like there's my first pet project in mechanics for the year. I feel good :P

Congratulations on the find... S13 Silvia's are great cars for beginners. In Austrailia, do they have the KA24? My Sil-eighty is no achievement yet. It's not even 50% completed, and I'm really not in the mood to work on it. My dad is getting pissed because he wants it done so we can put it in the other garage. The engine is in, but I still need to install the rear suspension and the rear brakes. My dad is going to install the BBC so I can fine tune the brakes and I still need to look for wheels and tyres. Best of luck with the S13.

Tom, how do you afford 7 cars, including a GT-R, as a mechanic???? What type of stuff you selling?
First off, love the avatar. Okay then, my dad has money... a lot of money, but he's... what's the word I'm looking for... cheap when it comes to things unrelated to automobiles. I work just to keep my car in running condition (gasoline, tyres, brakes, and the occasional suspension). The cars that are mine are my AE86, MA63, FC3S, and the RPS13 Sil-eighty. My dad has his AE86, and he recently bought the BNR32. The reason why we have these cars is because they were so cheap. The GT-R has no title, the MA63 has no title, and the FC3S was a police recovered vehicle. The only cars that are "clean" are all three of the AE86's at my house. My dad also made a lot of money racing here about 10 years ago.
