Wow, that is sweet looking!! I just downloaded iRacedash for my iPad last night and it's pretty awesome. A good way to spend $5.00.

Promotion is at the end of this week for rookie. So just make sure you are over 3.00 at the end of the week and you are set. Unless of course you get above 4.0 before then

What day!? Im right below 3.00! But im sooo busy this week i dont know if i can even manage one race!

Swift....you must understand that there is a HUUUGE gap of boredom inbetween races. iRacing is like a hot drug for me right now, and every time a race end I feel like what a druggie would feel like if he came down from his "high". I want races to be every hour instead of two, because I need to get my fix asap after a race.

That is why I'm hoping all you iRacing fans in this thread will fight for our cause and vote for races every hour, particularly for the 30-45 minute popular races like the Skippy, the Star Mazda, the Mustang, etc. Please all vote and let iRacing know we want to be able to hop in and race these popular cars every hour so that we aren't forced to upgrade our Licenses to A just to be able to drive more cars while we wait for the next Skippy or whatever popular race to begin.

Hi Isamu...Maybe you need to push yourself harder during the races so your too tired to race again straight away :sly: (jokes)

@ Blaze_409
I've been checking out these guys products, maybe what your looking for...

Guess I should update it. Got tired of having a number 2 after my name so changed it.

It's now "Jason M Garrett"

I'm assuming you had 2 accounts and one you didn't use anymore. Could I perhaps put my initial in my current account then use the one I want for my new one?

does anyone know how i can get a more heads up speedometer?

How about a real speedometer?, get a rev burner and speedometer mounted on top of your steering wheel base. I mounted my tach in this fashion and a real analog speedometer is next. I don't care for the digital dashes.

It all depends what kind of tach you want, mine is a higher priced Auto Meter with a shift light and is 11,000 RPM. I have seen a lot of 6,7 and 8000 RPM tachs but I thought if some of iRacing cars were redlining at 11k I might as well get one.

You can get cheap ones for $50 but remember you usually get what you pay for.
The Rev Burner I purchased from Symprojects as well as the GI Max Gear Indicator and a G-Box enclosure from Derek Speare for the GI Max Indicator.

I suppose it really comes down to which car you drive, if you only need an 8000 RPM tach you can find used ones for $50 but if you drive the Lotus 79 you might want to spend more.

How much did you pay for your tachometer left888? I think you can pick one up for like 50$ Not sure though.

dam those symparts looks good, are they easy to install? i.e. plug and play? I really want the shift lights, gear indicators etc but I have no idea re circuit boardss etc. Also those symparts looks pretty bare, i.e. You need to make a box yourself which I can't do.

Also can someone tell me what the big positives are for button boxes? I currently have all the F1 etc keys mapped onto my numpad and thats my current button box. Am I missing something?

No. I only have this account but there is someone else with my same name who registered first. I did have a shared account for a few years with a good friend of mine, but decided to make my own account about 6 months ago.

Most of the stuff is plug and play, if you want a tach there is some wiring that must be done. It's all very simple stuff really. You can see my cockpit Here

Button boxes are just like your keyboard but give your cockpit more immersion. If you just want to race but don't want to immerse yourself then don't bother with it, ie .. buttkickers, bass shakers, sound system, tachs, button box, etc ...

funny about button box is, it's not necessary but makes it is easier and less fiddle around keyboard, also once you got it, you wonder how you did without them.

Looks like I was 20 minutes too late at de-selecting the auto-renew billing option. I've got rid of auto-renew now, but it says at the end of the 3 months you will have to re-claim your account or something along those lines. Will I still have this account if I remove auto-billing? Sounds like a pretty stupid question I know :dunce:

Yes, you'll have to buy the EK Sim Racing software to go along with the SLI-Pro. Also there is a free updated shift light script on the iRacing forums that makes the shift lights much more accurate than the original script.

If you have any friends who would like to test the game this code "PR-FREEFB" gives you a free month membership. Valid only through March 25th.

Isn't that the truth. :)

What wheel do you use? With the SLI PRO do you need a plate adapter for it to fit the wheel?

Fanatec. Will need a mount but realized that one has a cable behind an will be tricky as it will be caught up when turning the wheel. Any ideas for a hard mount and positioning so its right in front of me? I noticed Hwangm has one but I have a different racing cockpit to him. I was thinking of just getting some tape and sticking it below my tv.

Woop Woop, got another podium finish

I was in a 5 car pack through lap 15-20, I was in 4th place, there was a guy coming really fast behind me and a guy behind him also. I knew it was gonna end up as a crash, so I braked on the straightaway on okayama to let them pass by.

At lap 19 even though I was down to 6th place, at turn 2 on okayama short course. The black #7 mazda nose dived into the 2nd place man, causing a huge accident with 4 drivers, I braked hard and I was lucky enough to get just a scratch on my car. I got lucky along with one other driver (#11) to have gotten through the accident, he finished 2nd while I was right on his arse for the next 7 laps finishing 3rd. :D

Have you all properly set your field of view (FOV) using the FOV calculator? There is a big thread about it on the iRacing forums which convinced me to do it.

I play on my living room TV, moving my cockpit in front of the TV when playing and sliding it to the side when I'm not. It's a 50" screen, but my eyes were about 6' from the screen because of the lenght of my cockpit. In this case the FOV calculator gave me a FOV that was so narro I could barely see anything.

To solve the problem I decided to remove the table my TV was on and place the TV directly on the surface of my cockpit where my wheel attaches to. This allowed me to place the TV 3' from my eyes. The resulting FOV is 65 degrees, which just barely shows my mirrors in the skippy.

The sensation of driving with the correct FOV is strange, but the sense of speed is much higher. It's kind of like going from the roof/hood cam in GT5 to the bumper cam. It's going to take a while to get used to but it seems to be a change for the best.

Going from a completely wrong FOV and the audio through speakers to the correct FOV with headphones has really transformed the sensation of racing for me. Also, maybe my eyes just need to adjust, but I felt a bit motion sick after playing with the correct FOV. I hope that goes away lol.

In summary, try using the correct FOV (move your screen much closer if you have to).

I use 69 FOV right now, with a asus 22 inch screen 1 feet away from me. I want to use my 55inch tv so bad, but my chair moves back and forth, so I have to have it behind something large like a sofa.

I had my first podium finish today. I was on Okayama Short in The MX5 cup. I didn't have time to qualify and ended up starting 8th. I didn't do anything special. I just kept driving clean laps while those in front of me took each other out of the race. I made it up to second then almost lost it and got passed back to 3rd. Stayed there for the remainder of the race. Had only 2 incident points too which is my lowest yet.

I have been racing in iRacing service for exactly two and a half weeks. I sucked when I first started out and I STILL kinda suck. But I have just accomplished something I never thought I'd do....

I WON MY FIRST RACE IN THE....

That's right, my first Skippy victory! With exactly zero incidents!! I can't tell you how happy I am right now. It feels good. Swiftwilly, welcome into the Skippy fraternity brother!!

nice win, particularly in the Skip. What was your average race time?

Gives me hope for a win this week then, I am down to 1.06.5 now :)
