Eric.
I've read a couple times lately that the initial cost of iRacing has nearly been paid off, and so we could expect to see bigger advancements at that point.

Mustang update: 10 laps on my same setup in practice reported pretty normal tire wear and temperatures, so I'd have to assume all that extra heat on the outside of the tire was a side effect of my damage. 10 laps in and I was still in the 1'33s.

Oh cool.

when you hit the wall toe and camber are the big tire killers at that point. Bent spindles, bent steering rods/himes... IRL I've bent an entire steering rack in a big lap 1 wreck when last place tried to win before the start... And again in a Dukes of hazzard like move  not to mention wheelbase and caster are also affected depending on the force of the hit.

BTW Guess what I saw today! I went to Griot's Garage today and saw a McLaren M6A, a 1964 Jag XKE, a webster racecar, a cobra, a 300SL roadster, there were a couple other cars but I can't think of them, just on the tip of my tongue.

I bought into it around release 36 or so. I've played against the kamikaze AI racers so I suppose I have played this Arcade thriller.

If you play then you should know that the devs have said AI hasn't even been touched that much except for a very basic system.

Just bumped into the top go kart driver in North America on a hoste practice lobby. Beat his fastest MX5 time on Mid Ohio by 2 tenths. :sly:

And who would this be? I can tell you that this "top karter in North America" is not an iRacing member.

Don't get too excited about being faster than pros. It's nice and feels good but, it is just a Sim after all :D

A few problems I find in pCARS and as you are aware it is still early in it's development. I find the handling in all cars way off, it reminds me of early CART. I find a lot of the cars feel exactly the same as far as handling goes and their tire model is terrible compared to iRacings.

pCARS is being developed for consoles, that is their target. There will be some eye candy for the PC and it might even turn out to be a half decent racer but it will never be an iRacing Service

I hear this comment (bold) very frequently from simracers. I think someone said the current physics are a placeholder and improved physics are being coded for the game? I certainly hope so.

It does not appear that any sim on the way is trying to challenge iRacing's excellent online service. The online service setting up series, providing servers, SR, iR, Protest system, etc., set iRAcing apart from the other games. IIBC, Asetto Corsa (sp) is going to provide some type of penalty system for online racing, but it will be optional for the host to implement(?)

Hey guys. Sorry to be asking this in this thread but I did a search and couldn't find anything. Plus I didn't whant to create a new thread.

I'm looking forward to buy iRacing (probably a 1 year subscription) but I have a question: do I need to buy all tracks and cars or does the subscription bring a "base" listing of cars and tracks? Since I see you guys talking about buying cars/tracks I wasn't sure about this.

Anyone raced the Caddy on Mid-Ohio yet? Even a bit to much gas or steering input and you're going sideways..
Don't know if I have to readjust my screen setup or what, but I can't see through any of the tight corners, or hills with the Cadi. Every other car is fine @ Mid Ohio.
I do not have the cash to buy two more monitors right now.

I think it is better to be as fast as the guys in the NASCAR iRacing World Championship in one car at one track and maybe only for that day.

EDIT: 100th post

It looks like the key to running the Mustang around Mosport is to be very aware of what your front tires are doing, and if you can sacrifice a little bit of corner speed to use less steering angle (or late-apex when possible), do it. I think Kevin could have passed me a few times if he was wanting to press the issue, but multiple times he told me that I had the corner and to go ahead. Doing so we kept a slightly slower pace through the first half of the race. Unfortunately I didn't check temps and pressures after the race. Still using a medium front and soft rear bar, now with 29.5f/29.0r pressures and -2.6 camber.

I am well aware of the AI, it was only used to answer your question. :)

I am not trying to be to cynical of pCARS, ATM. I am sure it will improve. The big question is what will online racing look like or will single play be its strength? Anyone that has read the developer notes has to seriously wonder which direction this game is going. Some notes I read only a month ago and they still hadn't decided on game play amongst other crucial elements of the game.

I think I will not comment on this game anymore, at least until it's released. I always get 2 or 3 PM's every time I say something about this game (good or bad) :)

Left888 have you ever thought that maybe the reason you get such strong responses is not because of the subject matter, but the way you say things?

Finally downloaded and installed. Been playing for a few hours now.

Do you have to stay in cockpit or can you have different cameras?

Understandable.

Can I change the angle? And how can I do it?

Currently watching TV, then gonna get a few liveries on TradingPaints and do some adjustments.

Forward and back are the [ ] keys up and down are the same keys while holding shift. The F9 keys is to adjust the mirrors.

Try to make ur monitor as close to realistic aspect as possible. It will help in the long run. I play at around 62% monitor right in front of wheel.

Does anyone have a fairly decent Michigan truck setup? The one off forums starts out decent but will eat front right after about 20 laps or so.

I had something happen first time last night that hasn't ever before. Right as we were going to green in truck race, everyone disappeared which I'm guessing I had some issues not iracing did. I just pulled down into pits, and parked it but never lost any SR/irating so I have no clue.

Honestly I can't even get to grips with the fixed setup I spin out all the time. I just don't even get it! It's driving me crazy! (first season in trucks)

My first race on iRacing:

Got 4th, can't say I'm not happy.

Happy how I didn't wreck though :D

Only remember two x0 incidents so is that how many incidents I had? Does that mean it didn't take from my SR?

So, can I race agin to get a first or is it a cumulative score of all over each week of the season?

EDIT: Know I can race again.. But can't explain what I mean.

Jav
Don't worry about championships just enjoy it!

I will and am, just wondering :dopey:

Only gained .08 SR from that race though...

Had my first two races today. So-so. In the first one I had to duck multiple people spinning in the middle of the course and got plenty of incidents, in the second started from the pits, but got black flagged for exiting too eagerly ;)
I presume I crossed the yellow line on the pit exit?

For championship points, if you are really that concerned with it, I would say don't race more than twice a week if you get a good result. If you race twice a week, the better of your two scores is kept, and the lowest score is thrown out. If you race more than twice a week it throws out some races and then averages together results of the rest.

Not overly bothered, was just wondering

Thanks 👍
