Any news on when the MP4 will be released? I really think the lotus 49 is a waste for the service.

Hey look who's back!! Congratz on Suzuka! Well done dude! The MP4 will be coming out mid season, so I guess mid December.

===========================================
@ Mr.M, just start from the pits, do not race anyone! Study your competitors before you attempt to pass, most of the rookies will loose it on their on when you put minimal preassure on them, so just start from the pits and play "watch the moron spin out"! +SR and =iR every single time guaranteed!
Eric gave you great advice! Yes they are morons, yes they are wreckers and beign better than they are is not just about beign faster or more consistent, but about avoiding the situation all together, there will always be a way to stay cool and avoid disaster!

Outstanding advice 👍 It did take me a while to understand that winning or placing a spot or two higher by risking tight a tight pass is less productive than just finishing without incidents in the long run if you are just trying to get out of the rookie / D classes.
Simply put, I'd prefer to finish 4th with a +0.45 than push for second and wind up with a +0.13 because there was contact / off tracks, etc.
If I've been close enough to the drivers in front to know how they drive / block, etc., I will obviously go for it assuming they drive well, but if it's the last 2 laps or they drive a bit aggressively / erratically in close, just let it go and collect the SR points rather than race points.

I do have a question that I should probably send to iracing, but I'm interested to see what you guys think. In a race last night at Okyama (rookie race) I started 11th and finished 5th. I passed 5 drivers on track, 1 in the pits, and also passed 2 lapped drivers. On top of that I traded places with 6th place about 4 times - all of them without contact. I had 1 incident (off track) and scored +0.12 in my SR. The driver in 7th place lost 5 positions and passed about 4 cars in the race, had 5 more incident points than myself but scored a +0.13. Additionally, in a prior race at Lime Rock, I went from 3rd to second, only passing 2 cars (1 lapped) had 1 incident point (off track) and wound up with a +0.45.
I'm a litle confused as to how the system actually works. Usually it's very consistent and I don't think much about it, but this last week has me stumped as to how I scored a +0.45 vs a +0.12 and a driver with more incidents scored higher.

I apologize in advance for skewing my name, but as a Mod at GTPlanet, some people get weird sometimes and for that reason I keep my last name out of everything.

Another thing to keep in mind is that SR is a calculation of incidents between corners, you previous race will have an effect on how much SR you'll get. So don't expect to get a cetain ammount all the time, spme times you may run incident free and get .20 and the next race get 1 incident near the end and get .30.
Also, every time you get past a whole number you'll automatically get an extra .50, sometimes you'll see someone get .43 and sometimes you'll see a .70 this only means the guy who got .43 in reality lost .07 after he got bumped and the guy who got .70 had a pretty clean streak going. the bonus .50 is meant to keep people from bouncing from license levels on a race to race basis.

If you read back on every 10th page I guess it will explain why sometimes you get a boost to your SR as most people have talked about it. It's when you pass a full number.. like 3 or 4 you get a free bonus rating.

EDIT: The bonus rating = 0,4 so if you got 0.45 means your actual rating was 0.05

And isn't it about time someone with inside information on how the SR work make a thread instead of answering this questing every week ;)

Thanks Guys 👍
Now it makes a lot more sense. I'm still lost as to how a driver with more incidents and less passes could out score me in a race, but I understand how the 'bump' works now. The +.045 was in the race I got my Sr over 3.00.

The bolded part of Eric's quote would be awesome :)

:odd: It's not even my first race. Every race has been full of 🤬 who brake late, bump, spin, and cause me to spin. I feel "forced" into braking too late, by the fear that they won't even bother.

I feel your pain:scared:. Just getting out of the rookie series in oval. Just waiting for promotion to Level C for road racing. The thread has given some good advice as you will find on the iracing webpage. Good to just be patient start from pit row or back of the pack and get a 3-5 place finish. Most wreck out on laps 2-3 at least in oval rookie. Road series is cleaner but still plently of wreckers. I basically drive 70/30. Not really trying to win but stay clean. I am not even close to being one of the fastest but I quickly noticed that there were many drivers who had faster lap times (59s at Lime Rock), been on iracing longer and were at the same level as me with a very low SR rating. Many crashed out & quit the race.

Instead of winning I try to be clean and consistent for my lap times for now. Winning will come later (hopefully). Sure you will be fine.

Finishing possition or how many possitions you gained isn't factored into the SR system, those go into the iRating or iR system wich is completely independent of the SR(Safety Rating) system.
The reason that guy got a higher gain is because he had a good streak going prior to that race. The system doesn't stop counting when the checkered comes out, it rolls on to the next race and the next point in time where you get another incident.
One more factor to keep in mind is that the SR scoring curve gets steeper as you progress, is not uncommon for A licensed drivers to loose .10+ SR for 3 incidents on a race, specially when you are at or above A 3.00.

Anyone doing the petit le mans? Its less than a week away, i figured someone would have made a thread about it. I want to do this so bad but my work schedule will probably have me working during those hours. Those kinds of races are the reason why i bought iRacing because i love endurance races with big fields. Oh well, i suppose making money and paying rent are more important these days. #Life

Oh yeah! I'm definitely doing it! Down to 16.643 on the Vette and just for kicks I did a session on the HPD and got down to 10.8xx on the Fixed setup. I will be using the Vette for sure!

Ok, I thought that clean overtakes were factored in. Maintaining a streak makes a lot of sense though.

Was thinking of running Petit, not 100% sure yet. Most likely in the Ford GT.

Does the TT events also factor into the streak? It seems to me like the best I ever get in a race is +11. I've gotten that several times lately but I think in between both +11 races I had a race with 1 incident.

Yes, it does carry into TTs. If you guys want to get some pretty decent SR gains you need to look into the Pettit LeMans race, on a race that long is not uncommon to see SR gains of 1.50 and more.

MrMelancholy.

There is a lot of good advise on here. I didn't start from the pits very often, but I always qualified. I found that if I put in a good qualifying time it put me at the front of the pack. Most of the time the driving was pretty clean at the front. The most frustrating incidents were the rear-enders. Those drove me bonkers, as they were the hardest to avoid. Definitely do avoid close racing in Rookie unless you have followed a driver for awhile and know they can handle it.

SR is calculated by your average Corners Per Incident (CPI) over X number of last events. If the oldest races that are still being counted towards your CPI were full of incidents, and they get replaced by some better, more recent results, it'll increase.

Something like:

4, 9, 8, 1, 0, 2, 3, 6, 1, 1

As an example of "corners per incident" for your last X races, where X is only 10. It's much larger than that, and your CPI numbers would be decimals generally, but for the sake of discussion, this is easier.

With the above, your average is 3.5.

You run three more races, with 6, 0, and 2 incidents. Your CPI will change like below:

[4], 9, 8, 1, 0, 2, 3, 6, 1, 1, 6 = 3.7 CPI
[4, 9], 8, 1, 0, 2, 3, 6, 1, 1, 6, 0 = 2.8 CPI
[4, 9, 8], 1, 0, 2, 3, 6, 1, 1, 6, 0, 2 = 2.2 CPI

So after race 1, the 4 "fell off" your record, and was replaced with a six. Loss of SR.

After race 2, the 9 was replaced with a 0. SR gain.

After race 3, the 8 was replaced with a 2. Gain again.

If the number being replaced in race 2 had been something low, like a 2, you'd be seeing a larger gain in SR from race 3 (where you had incidents) than race 2 where you raced cleanly. So that's why.

You seem to know your way around SR Eric, but couldn't you make a new thread and we could ask Hydro to make it a sticky.

Because in 1 or 2 weeks this reply you just did is drown on page 544 and that's a far way back in a week or two.

The SR and it's system is a bit confusing, and it is hard to find a good (and correct) explanation. Maybe I'm just too used to GTPlanet's forum, but I really don't like the iRacing forums.

If you guys (or anyone) can assemble a good SR guide I'll gladly look into making it a sticky as it is essential to understanding how to advance to the next class.

I'd care less about your SR and more about your Irating.

Man what a great couple of days iv had on iRacing now!!
On saturday I had a realy nice race in the blondies MX-5 cup (posting the archive from glacierTV on youtube at the bottom of my post)
Started 11th and ended at 11th, sound boring but there was alot of action in that race. 40 Laps of Brands Hatch.

Then came sunday and I just went into a grand touring race to have some fun. Had an ok Q time so I got pole, and held the lead from start to finish ^^
Might make a little video of it if I can be bothered :P

Then today I went into the SM at one of my favorite tracks, Watkins Glen :D
Witch was also mostly for fun. Had a couple of realy great battles! Started 10th and got 3rd, so another podium there ^^

And after that, just for the hell of it I jumped into tuesdays last grand touring race at Suzuka (also one of my fav tracks!) Started 8th and had some nice battles. Got up to 2nd after about 15 minutes of racing. Was battling for 1st for 10 intense minutes! Got 1st place at the hairpin with about 3 or 4 laps to go.
Then I got distracted and went of the track in T1 >_< But I maneged to catch up with the leader again. Then he got taken out by a laped car :( After that I just cruised around the track and taking my second victory in just 3 days ^^

Those victorys where also my first on the road side ^^

Here is the blondies MX-5 race:

This!!!

Best schedule ever! Only complaint I have is Motegi. What the hell is that doing there? :S
I hate the tack :P just another boring modern track in my opinion.
Plus its way to new to be on the schedule for a 60s race car... I would take any track instead of that one.
Hopefully its just a placeholder track incase they get the canadian track finished in time. (witch they probably wont xD)

I'd care less about your SR and more about your Irating.

No one said you should ignore or take less stock in the iRating, the issue was that the SR system is confusing.
Seeing as how I am currently in D and want to race in better series it is very important to me to understand the SR system.
If I'm not a good driver, but I keep it clean I will still get promoted and I can run in the series I want to.

Yes, Motegi seems to be the major complaint by most. They may have shoehorned it in the schedule to boost the tracks sales, or maybe they genuinely thought it was a good idea :irked:.

I hope they will replace it with indy road instead. That was used alot in F1 back in the days

When I first saw Motegi on the schedule I thought it was a typo, otherwise then that I love the schedule!

They got me coming in at 5:45pm, which is almost 2 hours after race start. Looks like i wont be able to do it unless i ask off, which im sure my manager would give me because by that time ill have worked 8 days in a row. But i definitely need the money, on the other hand i just cant miss an event like this. The other thing is i dont even have the required track/car so i would have a lot of catching up to do. I did a similar thing with the 120 minutes of thunder race and even though i was wrecked out by a prototype i still had a blast.

There's still plenty of time to get up to speed! And there are some pretty good setups for both Vette and Ford on the forums!

I just hope that people get better at racing together as the race gets closer. Spent a couple hours today in the practice rooms and about every second lap I was getting run over by hpd drivers.

Communication out there is tough because some guys assume you're letting them have the corner and others are patient. One thing i noticed about the last endurance race i did is after the race is going for a while the hpd's will calm down and work with you on track position. As long as this doesnt happen again... lol

A key to surviving the HPD waves is to be clear on what line you're gonna take.
Be selfish the corner is your corner and not the HPD's.
Use the F3 box, when a wave is coming hug the inside lane!
Qualify! On a race like this you can't afford not to.
It's better to give up a few tenths making a wider line than vissiting the pits for an 8 minute repair.
Pay a lot of attention to the mirrors.
If you can use the mic to let them know where to pass. If you can assign a button on the wheel for a chat command saying where to pass, example using x-padder:
<===== pass left, pass right=====>
Always hold your line!
Practice a lot and identify the trouble zones.
