Hmmm... I'm surprised you guys are not talking more about it, but the ar list signed on the BMW deal was confirmed on the weekend and it sounds very very interesting:
BMW E92 M3 GT2
BMW Z4 GT3
BMW 328i BTCC

What's more exciting to me is that we will finally be having multiple manufacturers in one class!!
Am I the only one getting excited about it??

Oh no, I'm really excited for this also. I've been wanting mixed cars in mixed classes for awhile now. This is great news!

Some iRacers are none too happy. Oh well I say. It isn't going to hurt the participation per class anymore than it already is. The McLaren has already done that. Well, it didn't hurt the participation for the Vettes or the FGT's per se, but it split them up more kind of ruining it for the points guys. The Vettes and FGT's are now at most at 5 or 6 cars per split with the McLaren having 20 cars. The splitting of races could definitely use a little tweaking.

I just hope iRacing doesn't make a bunch of standalone series. We're already spread thin with participation. Last thing we need is 5 more series. Too bad we can't have as many people registering for races everyday like we've had in some of the World Tour events. That would solve alot issues. Iracing just doen't have the numbers on a daily basis to support more series.

Well it seems I will be doing some Oval races to practice and increase my license before the Premier IndyCar Season starts... :).

Anyone racing in the Silverado's? or even the Late Models?

I race the Late Model at USA, my 5th and last week in this series for this season. Most likely in the evening hours (GMT +1).

Next season I like to focus on Indycar. Either oval or road. Not yet decided.

Maybe some "just for fun" races now and then. My favourite track was Charlotte, don't like the short tracks.

Yeah, I'll also be racing IndyCar next season... Mostly the Road side but a few Oval races.

Add me on iRacing (L Garnett) :)

I'm assuming you've tried other tracks and checked your internet, but I would assume it's the C>Program files> iRacing >Tracks>Mosport file. I've never done that but I assume that you could re-download it.... I wouldn't try it myself though.....

It only ever happens in a Grand Touring Cup session.. I could delete it but I don't see a way to re-download it without purchasing it again..

I would think it would give you a notification "updates available" or something, I'd check the iRacing forums, I'm sure someone has attempted it before and could answer you there

Hello, anyone know of a gaming computer that will run iRacing on medium to high settings. At the moment I have around 300 pounds to spend but could maybe have a little more in a couple of months.

Smuffy

All you need for full settings well what I have is:

4GB RAM
AMD 4100 Series processors (Quad Core)
And a ATi/AMD (Don't know which) HD7000 card or more.

That's what I have and it works a charm. 👍

Cost me about €450 on eBay. Had it six months not a problem with it. It didn't have a OS though so that's about another €100 for me. But it works a charm. So maybe £480 inc. Windows 7.

In the current sales you should find that between £380-430 I would imagine. Good luck.

Also, go ATi/AMD/Nvidia for the GPU, Intel don't handle games all so good from what I've heard.

Exactly my thoughts! And yet there's a lot of guys witching and whyning about a McLaren alone series... Personally I say axe the Proto series, leave the McLaren on the GT Challenge and put it in Grand Am, replace the Ford GT with the Cadillac on GT Challenge if it really is such a problem...(wich I don't think it is)

Ok will look around. Thanks 👍
also what settings can you get from that?

I just bought the Late Model today actually, I bit the bullet. I want to eventually run the Indy Car on ovals as well..

Trust me, it's no where near as exciting from the onboard. It just looks easy and boring from the onboard. You hit the kerbs and the car just floats through the air as that's how it was setup. However, bear in mind that it will mean nothing now as it was filmed on the Old Tyre Model when we used to set the suspension up soft, now it would just bounce off the kerbs.

It's a shame the V8 doesn't go to VIR anymore but regardless of that, it's an awesome series and provides such close racing.

V8 SUpercar is a hard car to drive, awesome, but definitely a handful.

After watching any amount of Gold Coast races, I really want to see more curb-hopping V8s in iRacing. You can't curb-hop at Mosport!? Why go to Mosport?! It's nothing like a V8 Supercars track. :yuck: It's there for Prototype/GT and Star Mazda... and that's about it.

If you're talking about 4 manufacturers in the GT class then that would be awesome. We just need Porsche to jump in on the action now.

I'm disappointed. I thought they were focusing on endurance races (with day/night transition and maybe rain,) but this just makes me spend more money on cars I don't want; I'm not doing it, except maybe for the BTCC car, though I prefer FF/AWD cars that aren't so hard to drive.

But, damn, I want rally. I just drove my Impreza in the deep snow. That was so much fun!

Late Model is much harder to drive than I anticipated.. Jumped into a race and was off the pace, started 12th and was running 10th when another car I was letting by decided to nudge me into the wall.. oh well. I need more practice on it. I found my mojo in the Mclaren, getting better in the DP, and now the Late Model. Oh iRacing, why are you so addictive?

The Late Model guys are a pretty rough and hardcore group both in the sim and IRL. the short track races IRL are insane.

Edit: I was in an MP4 fun session and a guy gave me his setup via the private channel and I couldn't figure how to reply to him, so I sent a vague thanks saying I couldn't figure out the radio thing. Anyway, how do you change channels on the radio, I never figured that one out

Late models has good races but some folks there just don't give any room. It doesn't help those tracks aren't exactly big either.

Well, finally back online and after waiting for me on the garage waiting to be downloaded I jumped in and headed to Silverstone!
First impressions where not very good, it felt weird, like it didn't belong on iRacing... Then it hit me! It feels like a car!! It actually feels like a car! The grip at low speeds is such a different feeling to the "swing the pendulum" feel of the rest of the cars on iRacing! I thought they've gone soft, what have they done to my beloved iRacing!!! This is wayyyy too easy!! Could it be the damn touch support cospiracy?? We're doomed!!!
So... I went on and replaced the boards on my pedals wich where acting up, finished up a couple of skins and took it for some more laps, then I started to realize this isn't easy at all!! Sure easy to keep on the road, but get a corner wrong and pay the prize on the timing beam! It takes a good deal of focus to drive it correctly and somewhat decently, I'm arround 1.2 seconds off my optimal time wich isn't what I'm used to, it really is going to take me some track time to get decently fast on this car. I'm kind of amazed at how much of the Ford GT applies to this car, sure it's got a ton more grip on the dynamic extremes but keep it on the envelope and they are very similar cars. After arround an hour with the car I think I'm falling in love...

Good for you Jav. Now if we could just the the iRacing servers to work right. They are down once again, Dagnabbit!!

I wonder what would happen if their claimed 30,000 members decided to all log in at once..

Yeah. I really like the V8s going to the small twisty circuits on iRacinglike Lime Rock, Summit Point, Road Atlanta, Sebring. It's just a shame that most of the time they don't get on the calender. All of those tracks that in most cars are really awkward and tight are generally awesome in the V8. Australian tracks are typically very tight and "club style" circuits such as Oran Park that we now have on iRacing. Phillip Island is a little rare as it's very much a european style layout, virtually every other track down here is tight, narrow, big kerbs and rubbish facilities.

Although, the current tyre model sucks for kerb hopping as the car simply bounces. The V8 physics are still wrong as all of us have pushed the setup so far in the series that we have found so many bugs in it that give a huge gain. This makes the car terribly difficult to drive but extremely fast if driven in the correct way. A bit annoying really.

This is very likely a side effect of the nasty winter weather. Will probably have to wait for the weather to die down before it's running reliably again.

Why would you have to buy cars that you don't want?

I'm not saying that I have to. I'm just saying that, if I wanted to improve my experience, I would have to, apparently.

Word is that they're working on dirt, rain, and (hopefully) snow. :nervous: I really can't wait. That would be worth more money.

Meantime, I'm looking into a Winter Driving course (not only to make me a safer driver, but, also to have some fun, and learn how to recover from skids (not necessarily my specialty.)

Dirt, rain and snow? I will pass unless it's dirt tracks but they need to work on what they have to fix the surface build up and tire model for that.

I take it you like the McLaren:sly:

I quite like it also. It is easy to drive, but start pushing the limits and the car becomes a beast. I was running some laps at Brands Hatch and once I figured out the brake points and lines, I began thrashing on the car. Very forgiving if you just miss a brake point and that abs kicks in. While you don't technically want to depend on the abs, its a McLaren abs system we're talking about here. So to me the abs feels very intuitive instead of intrusive like alot of cars. Also the aero on the car is just ridiculous. It keeps the car planted but at the same time allows you to feel the tires slipping. Its an interesting car and is very different from its other GT counterparts.

I just wonder how much of the car is iRacing and how much is McLaren just making a great car? I know iRacing has the latest physics coded into this car and how much of that is causing the car to feel the way it does if any. Maybe McLaren made a gem of a car. It's definitely possible. One thing that most likely helped alot, is that iRacing was probably given more data from McLaren on the car than any other. I would imagine McLaren has miles of data and testing on this car.

Unless you want to drive all of the cars in official sessions, you don't need them. For example, if they came up with an official series that was HPD + DP + C6R + FGT + BMW + BMW + McLaren + Civic + BMW and you wanted to drive the Civic, you would only need to own the Civic. No need to buy the other cars unless you want to drive them as well. Now if you are talking about running in a league or other hosted races, yes, you have to own all of the content. I'm still hoping that will change in the near future.

As far as dirt goes, if you are talking about actual offroad racing or dirt ovals, I don't think we will see that for some time, maybe in 4 or 5 years. Hell it's taken them nearly 2 years now just working on driver swaps and we still don't have a definite date on that. Before they could even think about doing dirt they will have to get dynamic surfaces which from what I've read is a huge task. We still need time changes for endurance racing, dynamic weather with rain, a tire model that doesn't randomly spin out at 40mph, and a ton of other things.

If you are in it for the long haul, I'm sure you'll see all of those things implemented, but I wouldn't get my hopes up for anytime soon.

For me the biggest thing right now is for them to get driver swaps and time changes so we can do some real endurance racing.

Word is they haven't even seriously considered snow or dirt yet. They have stated many many times that the conditions are way too difficult to replicate with the way thing are right now. They did say that they would like to get rain into the service but also said that it is a bit out of their reach at the current moment.

Not to mention, they need to fix the current joke of a tire model that they have right now before they even consider to start a large project like that.
