Nice 👍

I'm really, really tired of getting 4x before the race even starts because drivers can't seem to figure out how to maintain a gap in rolling starts. I just drove a full race at Suz with damage to the rear end of my MP4. Still managed 4th, but it was a struggle until about 1/2 way. Not sure if it was the fuel load that made it better at that point or I just got used to it.

The race almost ended before the start line as someone up front basically stopped and drivers were braking / dodging everywhere.. lots and lots of colourful language filled up the headset there.

Today it's fair to say I had the greatest experience I've had on a sim so far! Using iracing in 3d with some brilliant headphones I was unbelievably immersed! Sadly i don't see myself affording that kind of setup for some time

Graphics and sound were both amazing and FFB (which I already new about of course) just added to that. It was my first time driving the Williams which is such a beast! Loved it.

Hey guys! So after a long time without driving the car I took out the HPD for a couple of laps and it all feels pretty good, almost had forgotten how great of a car to drive it is. But There's something that has always annoyed me a bit about this car, well all cars here but it does more in the HPD than any other and it is the seating possition. I feel like I'm driving with my eyes on the roll hoop!
My question is, how do I adjust my seat down? I know there's some command to do it but I don't remember what is it and have never done it before... So, can anyone give me a tutorial for dummies on how to do it? Please??
I'd like to get it to where the eyes are level to the small windscreen on the car just over the dash display.

There's no way built into iRacing to adjust the seat height. However if you search the forums for "Motion Cockpit View" you can set that up with all the motion stuff disabled and it will give you seat adjustment only (up/down fore/aft left/right).

Well, sometime soon you'll be able to pay ~$300 for an Oculus Rift and use it with iRacing and get an even more immersive experience.

to adjust the seat down is: Shift and the left bracket key. the same one to change FOV on the fly but with shift it moves the seat up and down

That's not moving the seat up and down, it's moving the up/down angle. I know it seems the same, but it's not. Using Motion Cockpit View gives you MUCH more freedom and actual seat adjustment.

Yeah, that's what I thought... I'll check it out!

Exactly, by using that function what you're doing is basically looking up or down by tilting your head but it stays at the same height...

Is Motion Cockpit View an entirely separate application? The seating has always bugged me, but I dealt with it because I didn't know you could do anything about it.

Thanks for the tip!

Motion Cockpit View is a basic API plugin that you run a small app that runs in the background. Some people like all the motion stuff included with it (look to apex, bouncing head with bumps, etc) but I only wanted it for the seat adjustment. There's a big thread in the iRacing forums started by Stephane Turpin, look through that thread and you'll find the section of code to copy/paste into the INI file that will disable all the motion stuff.

Using this with combination of FOV adjustment and the angle adjustment, you can get exactly the view you want. You'll even be able to see gauges and the mirror at the same time. :)

Also one nice thing is the app saves your settings for each individual car. :)

I thought he meant the angle. I'm sorry.

WOW!! I wasn't planning on hopping in the rig tonight but I've got to figure out how to get this installed. This looks amazing!!!!

I'm not a computer guy (at all), but I'm going to try my best to get this installed and running. It looks like the differences will be very noticeable!

Thanks for the info guys!

Wow is right! I had shutdown for the evening, but that's not going to last. The horizon and head tilt settings already saved me from bailing on Sonoma and Laguna in the caddy (and the uphill 'hairpin' at Mosport was no treat either) so I can't wait to see how this changes things.

Thanks for the info!!

No reason to say sorry. :)

It's a common misconception.

Downloaded, but how do I install it?
Also, are the changes independent for each car?<==== Scratch that, already looked into the .ini and answered my question...
And how do I install it?<==== Found it on the Read Me file, d'oh!!

Don't feel bad, the directions were.....trying my patience (I'm assuming English is not the first language of the person who wrote them). And I'm very computer savvy. Felt like a :dunce: though until it actually worked.

I have to say, it's a very cool addition to the sim 👍 I was lost at first though, as it seemed to increase my braking distance - a lot. In practice @ Laguna in the MX5 I must have missed the corkscrew and final turn 10 times. After turning off brake assistance and getting a better feel for it I was about 3 tenths faster than before.
I should have turned off the assist anyway, I'm using a good headset now and being able to hear the tires lock makes a huge difference. Now to just swap out my DFGT pedals for G27 pedals (or something) and I'm all set :D

I didn't get to install it... What I'm really interested in is the seat adjustability, I'll get it done tomorrow!

Anyone got a half decent setup for the Star Mazda at Okayama Short? Best I can do is 51.3 and seen 48's..

It's tough, I'm running the setup posted on page 1 of the okayama thread of the iracing star mazda forum. I tinkered a little and managed a 50.2 but I can't repeat it

Managed to get a 2'01.6 qualifying lap in the MP4 at Suzuka. That's all I'm gonna be able to do without a draft buddy. I modified the most recent race setup posted by Andrew King, down to minimum fuel, lowered it back to minimum height, and a few other tweaks. I'm kind of concerned with the temperature spread in the tires. After a couple of laps the middle and insides are 180-190F and the outside might be 150 or so. I know that wear is supposed to be the better indicator of tire usage, and after I reduced camber a little bit I was getting all of the tire down to 99 or 98% at the same time. Maybe this is the tire model working more correctly with the middle and inside sections heating up from straight line usage like they should.

That looks pretty good. Depends how long it takes to be go into manufacturing and how long it takes iracing to integrat/support it.

More setup work. Can run a 2'03.0 within the first ten laps. Mostly '03s and low '04s, best Q lap down to 2'01.621 and I know I can take a couple more tenths off if I can just keep it together for a lap.

So was really looking forward to racing this weekend but not going to happen. Since last night the DSL light on the router is flashing. I've tried resetting it but with no luck. Phoned my ISP and they are sending an engineer out but he won't be here until Monday! Gutted.

Gonna get on and do some oval today I think. The oval at the moment is crawling with rookies who don't practice before racing. I wanna get promoted on both oval and road. My road is already above 3 so I'm all good.

Well if you want to get promoted out of Rookie series' quicker then make sure you have completed your MPR then get your safety rating up and over 4.00, you will get an immediate promotion then.

I had the same thing happen a while back in the HPD.
Guy 2 rows up did not start when the pace car left.
Guy in front of me jams on the brakes, and I hit him.
Friggin ridiculous IRacing damage takes my front end off.
Even though I pit for repairs, it won't replace the front end.
That's one on my biggest gripes with IRacing.
I don't care how long it takes, much more damage should be repairable.

Was that guy on pole?

If he was then the polesitter doesn't have to set off straight after the pace car pulls off. He has until the green flag to control the pace, he can go straight away, but he isn't required to.

No, he was in the 3rd row.
Ended up saying he lost his steering control. And it was at the start of the pace lap.
