The MX-5 feel really weird for me. I keep sliding the rear and losing control going up the hill and turn 1 at Lime Rock Park. Anyone know what times I should be running?

@Mac K, FOV affects all cars. I'm not sure if it does it for the Motion Cockpit View.

If I change the FOV on one car, will that change effect all my cars? Or just the one?

My cars all have different FOV's and I alter them a bit from race to race so I'm sure they can be saved separately. All my cars have the check box for individual car settings (or whatever it's called) checked - that might be the difference. Plus, now it's adjustable in car at any time 👍

Sorry iMike, I was posting from my phone and totally missed your post. I do use Motion cockpit view now. I double checked to be sure and from my laptop (which I don't race on) I tested the cars without motion cockpit installed and if I changed the MX5 it also changed the MP4 👍

My quali time for the MX5 at Lime Rock is 59.6, race lap is 59.4. If you are consistently close to 1'01 or less you will do just fine ;)

Didn't have the car before Spa, had it for Okayama Short and Watkins Glen.

Took some setups from the forums and watched a few laps live and the replays of 1:40/1.xxx and just can't get near the grip they do. Turn 5 and 9 always get the rear round on me. Every other turn I either go in too hot or too cold and can't find consistency until today where I went Purple everywhere and got my best to a 1:44.001 and Optimal to a 1:43.2xx.

It's just ridiculous, I was 3s off pace at Okayama too.

My first week with the car, I picked up a good set and some pointers in a practice session, one of the fast guys let me follow him around. My PB is a 1:42.6, but that was probably with draft. I'm struggling to do many laps in a row though.

Did a GT Challenge race yesterday with the McLaren. The high downforce setup works well with Zolder, I did a 1:29.5 at qualy with low fuel, optimal is at 29.1.

My framerate sucks at this track though, I messed around with the graphics a lot and couldn't solve the framerate drop and stuttering that happens at some parts of the track. Because of this I was a bit conservative with my race pace, turning 1:31 low for the most part.

Today I should start practicing in the Grand Am series at Silverstone, which I'll also race Monday night for the league. I'm guessing the high downforce setup doesn't work as well at this track but that's what we're using in the league so I'll stick with it.

It's okay. I knew you were talking about the Motion Cockpit View since someone told me that you can have different FOV for different cars.

I can run consistent 1:01's but I cannot go lower then a 1:01.259. I guess I will have to let all the rookies wreck themselves and keep it clean.

Any session I've been in so far people have just ignored my asking for help. I don't even go "Does anyone have a tune?" I'm just asking for a few quick pointers like what you said sort of.

Has this been in practice sessions or races? Pilots are usually helpful in practice sessions. Sometimes pilots are busy testing setups or preparing for a race and do not have time to help. The iRacing series forums are very very helpful! Post a thread there and I am sure you will get plenty of help.

Practice sessions because I haven't got consistent enough to let myself race.

Will do then. Thanks!

I will happily help you out in a practice session but chances are that we won't be on at the same time. Sign me up (my name is in GTP iRacing users list) and if we are on at the same time join me in a practice session.
I not really good with tuning but have no issues with you following me around to help learn if thats what you want. (I won't get you into the 1'40's though  )

My computer is now finished with my graphics card now installed. Ran a few laps at Charlotte trying beat my PR in the street stock and I beat on my first lap. Everything looks amazing. I know it is not the most demanding track like Suzuka and Twin Ring Motegi. My only issue is I'm getting really high ping. I usually have 66 ping but these last two days it has skyrocketed and my jitter has gotten higher but it only happens on iRacing. No game is lags like it. At times it was 66 and other times it was in the 800's. Any ideas on how to improve it?

Does anyone understand the McLaren’s setup options? Trying to dial out some understeer, but everything I do either make it worse or not as fast.

I just recently bought the Mclaren and some tracks, but I'll be doing GT challenge and Grand-AM because I don't have them all... Been having lots and lots of fun with this car. I also had the understeer problem (still have) try lowering your downforce, but be carefull with oversteer though, try to find a sweat spot. You could also try tailbraking into turns, it helps a bit. ;)

I kinda like this news better than the RUF news

The RUF is awesome, but it's not a race car. It's a street legal car with road tires witch will create some awesome crashes when it's released ;)

Seriously I think road cars and driving game is a thing GT5 can have to them self, I want race cars in iRacing ;)

Is that Monreal?

I'd rather they just give us more tracks rather then teasers... :P

I could be wrong, but I believe that there are two versions of the car, a racing (RWD) and a street (AWD) and the racing version will have racing tires.

I could be totally wrong, but I heard it somewhere.. I think...

100% agreed! The only way that car will make any sense will be if it is restricted and turned into a "Fantasy" Porsche Cup car which I'd be fine with. But as a pure Ruf RTR12 it'll make absolutely no sense in the service, it'll be so hard to drive that people would just hate it!

I read the same thing or heard someone said it, but I cannot find a iRacing official statement of it. It might happen and that would be cool, but does it exist in real life. RUF is a tuning company. That I know, I haven't seen race cars from them. I didn't think iRacing was about making fantasy cars (X1 ftw)

Anyway
If they would have made two different ones. They should said so when they released the news about it. (Well in my opinion anyway)

And let's hope it's a race car coming and I'm wrong, but I just don't believe everything I read in forums where people with no knowledge of things state what ever they want ;)

I heard iRacing will release Nurburgring together with all the formula 1 cars because they got the licence for it. (NOT TRUE) but now you read it somewhere ;)

Anyone ever been hit on a standing start before the race even starts, receive a 4x and get black flagged? Just happened to me..

LOL Mac K, that is something that deserves a movie, with the title.. I'm in a hurry, get out of my way!!!!!

No it didn't happen to me, but I seen people getting taken out on the warm up lap with a rolling start. Not the same I know, but still just as stupid :)

Ohh the memories of my rookie days...
Yes It's happened to me before, as much as I'd like to make the occasional Mazda Cup race I will stay away from them forever!!

It was the inRacing News Challenge, never really have to many incidents in that series. I should note I lost 117 iR and 0.23 SR.. :p

It happened to me a lot when the cadillac came out and in Street stocks but other than that no. Probably a fresh class D

The CTR3 would be cool to get eventually, but only after we've bolstered our membership numbers a bit.

I think the RT12R will be great to drive if it's AWD on factory tires or RWD on slicks. But if they try to do RWD on factory tires, I don't think people will like it for the most part. Sure there will be a few masochists who enjoy it, but most people would gravitate towards the easier one to race.

We've got quite a few "street cars" in iRacing like the Jetta, MX-5, and Solstice. The RT12R has more racing modifications than any of those cars.
