Unfortunately the service is full of people like that, they use the protest system as their first resort for everything.. rather than try and talk it over like you were going to.. it doesn't help that the stewards make some of the weirdest calls in what they feel is "accidental" or "unintentional". I've sent in a few protests where people have made some questionable decisions and I got back a response saying it probably wasn't intentional. I don't feel this is right as penalties are thrown out all the time in real racing for "avoidable contact" which is usually nobodies fault, but it could have been avoided, iRacing doesn't do this and that's why I think their protest system and stewards are a bit flawed.

You forget that the stewards are mostly american and that the racing on iRacing is mostly NASCAR. They never hand out penalties in NASCAR because the "avoidable" contact is usually just a mistake. And i really dont think it makes sense to hand out penalties like that because mistakes happen, its part of racing. Everytime you try to make a pass you open up the possibility of making a mistake that could take you and/or the person youre racing against out of the race. But if nobody tried to make a pass then it really wouldnt be racing. These things happen, if youre going to protest someone just cause they were racing, then you should just stick to time trials.

Correct. iRacing only penalizes "intentional" contact. Unfortunately, as many have noted iracing will not reach its full potential until they penalize 'stupid moves,' such as, divebombing from 100ft back when is clear the bomber cannot make the turn and takes out another car(s).

So when a pilot does do something stupid and is protested they are almost always dismissed since the iracing steward cannot tell if it was "intentional."

I think iracing need to revise their penalty system. They should add license demotion. Like say you leave the pits and hit someone, you should lose a license level. Divebombing should also be on the list along with coming back on track and hitting someone. Not all penalties need to be suspensions or nothing. Probably many more things that you could add to the list, but you get the idea.

I really think leaving pits or coming back on track and hitting someone should be automatic rookie demotion. If you are doing that kinda stuff you really didnt learn what you needed to in the rookie series so you should go back and try again.

If your problem is only in the races, try lowering the amount of GPU memory the sim is allowed to use, to 150-200 below the actually GPU memory. I had the same problem the 1st time I raced at Suzuka, with 30 cars, and lowering this made a huge difference.

Also, if your running win7, try setting the iRacing application to disable Aero, when it runs.
Yeah, I'll try that tonight. Yesterday I tried turning off shadows and side objects but it didn't change anything. Had a huge stutter at Laguna's corkscrew which made me cut the corner and serve a time penalty. Costed me the lead of the race. :(

My GPU slider is at 850MB out of 1GB but I'll try lowering some more and disabling aero.

Exactly! Glad I'm not the only one that feels this way :)

Got a x4 at Talladega in he Nationwide cars for the slightest touch whist trying to side-draft somebody just there. :grumpy:

I've got x0's for much harder contact then that.

Is punting and ramming numerous cars, driving unpredictably, swearing, and retaliation all within 5 laps protestable?

I sure hope so . It seems as if ramming other cars as "intentional contact" so I would protest it.

I even saw this person retaliate on another driver.. he did everything wrong in the book.. he even had to the nerve to call others out on the forums!

You get the 4x if that person runs off the track or hits another car after so long after that contact.

I just got ganged up on in a practice session, 3 cars would wreck me, reset then wreck me again.. I'd distance myself and once I caught up to them they turn into me and wreck my lap. They'd even sit in the pits and wait for me to leave..

"I've been racing for 3 years in real life, I know what I'm doing"

....wrecks 3/4ths of us 2 laps later....

Yea, I ran into a moron in the proto/GT series tonight.

Protest those morons, we need them gone from iRacing!!

Yes they are the idiots that take the fun out of it, I never understood the point especially when you pay for a game monthly

I've been pretty lucky with iracing and haven't had a problem with idiots.... Knock on wood

Finally got the wheel out after a 3-4 week break. Feeling a bit rusty but just starting a Grand-Am race now :)
5 DPs, 15 MP4s, wow

I started to slow down I checked my rear view and bam I had accidentally turned into the DP driver resulting in a crash. I immediately apologized and stopped my race despite having a car easily able to carry on. I gave him the explanation as to what happened but clearly apologies and an explanation were not good for him.

Last season I won my first Grand AM race in the DP. I was in second place with about 20 minutes to go or so, then the leader who was about 8 seconds ahead of me wrecked on his own and raged quit. I took over the lead and after about 15-18 laps I noticed the now second place car catching up

This guy came out of no where and he was fast. Between fatigue and worn tires I was having a difficult time staying on my line and staying focused. Once he caught me my focus had returned, there were about 10 laps left and it was evident he was not able to pass me. I raced clean and never attempted to block him, stayed on my line.

With about 5 laps to go he did what I couldn't believe. A blatant dive bomb, it was so severe, that I had almost 20 minutes of repair time. I got on my mic and gave him the WTF buddy routine. :D To my amazement he pulled into the pits and apologized for his dive bomb. He told me he was so frustrated he couldn't get past me so he took me out, "on purpose" no less.

So to atone for this he didn't go back out which had given me the win.

How did you come out? I just finished that race a well. Only got 99 points for winning. Haven't got a clue as to how people get 200+ points from 1 race week.

Spa is a love hate relationship. It's a joy to drive but it's a b!$%h at the same time thanks to how many 1X's I get from doing a race.

Tonight is the first time I've ran into any in quite awhile actually..

It seems to come randomly, and honestly I don't get it at all no matter if we pay to play or not.

The only time I ever think of dumping someone on might not give much room is if they been forcing issues all race long and driving like madman which causes everyone issues. I rarely ever end up dumping someone but on oval side I'm not afraid to maybe push them off in corner a little bit or run low out of a corner to get the line for next.

I had issue in Indycar where me and a guy battled for 15 laps and the draft at Charlotte doesn't always let you get away even if your faster, well he tried to cut under me out of 2 which his wing caught my tire (granted I saw what he was going to do) and didn't have an issue but just moves like that kill me. Speaking of Indy Charlotte fixed setup, do you shift in corners at all or leave it in 5th?

3rd in the DP. Nice win by the way, didn't take you long to get up to the front. I copped a few 1x's too, lucky the race is so long so I came out gaining SR.
Only incident I had was getting rear ended from an MP4 and spinning, but the guy apologized straight away and even PM'd me after the race to say sorry again

Hi guys, my SR has dropped dramatically and I need to improve it, I've heard of people gain SR quickly somehow? How can I do this? (I'm still new in iracing)

Only way is too finish races with no or very little incidents. Even just hang around at the back and don't really race anybody if you really need it

I'm having a hard time finding any official races in the Grand AM. I can't always make the 5:00 pm Mnt, 7:00 pm east times. It seems after that it's a crap shoot.

Just receive my PRO, first qualify session, -0.37SR :D

What's your name on iRacing?

Wouldn't mind being friends with a pro ;)

Kamuifanboy
Might I ask how exactly you get upgraded to a PRO license? I've never really looked into it before.

I would assume being the highest rated iRating class A 4.0+ driver would take the spot of any pro drivers that drop out.

I believe you have to win or be top five on the F1 series... Danny Lopez posted it here a while back.

Here! Found it:

Thanks :D

You have to finish among the top 10 in one of the three first seasons in the A class series. In Road, it's the iRacing Grand Prix Series :)

That is to get the Pro License. The bottom 25 of the DWC will join those 30 qualifiers from class A to fight at the Pro Series, held at season 4 every year.

The top 25 in that competition earns the PRO/WC license, which is the maximum license you can achieve and gives you the opportunity to qualify and race in next year iRacing World Championship season.

The top 25 of each World Championship keeps his license for the next season, so I have a secured seat for the 2013 iRacing World Championship GP Series or whatever they're going to call it :dopey:

My personal way to get this was: 5th at class A series in 2011 S2, 24th in 2011 Pro Series (yep, a difficult season and almost got out the top 25) and now, 15th in 2012 DWC :)

The enigine on the DP is strange. In the quali session before I could bounce the car off the rev limmiter, but in the race I wait before down shifting and the motor blows up   There was nothing aggressive about the downshift either.
