Week 13
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer . . . and Week 13. Right smack-dab between Seasons Two and Three, Week 13 offers seven fun-filled days of sim racing with no worries about series points, iRatings or safety ratings. Or, if you prefer, Week 13 can be your springboard to a higher level of competition in Season Three, one last chance to bring those Class D, C and B licenses up a notch. But no matter how you look at it, Week 13 gives everyone a chance to sample some of the sensational new content coming with iRacing 2.0.
The two official series in Week 13 are continuations of the rookie road racing and oval series, the Mazda Cup and the Street Stock Challenge. The Mazda Cup features MX5s and Roadsters at Lime Rock, Summit Point and Okayama, while the Street Stock Challenge runs at Thompson, South Boston, Lanier National, Oxford Plains and Charlotte Motor Speedway (Oval and Legends Oval).
The Mazda Cup and Street Stock Challenge are official series, so Safety Ratings and iRatings apply and competitors have a final chance to increase their license ratings before the official license promotions for Season Two are finalized at weekÂ’s end. Likewise, rookies who have yet to complete the category-specific minimum participation requirements for graduation to a D license (two official races or four time trials in each category) have one last chance to do so in Week 13.
Strictly for fun, we’re bringing back the iRacing.com Gymkhana Challenge, a single car, single lap competition at Virginia International Raceway’s Patriot course (reverse). There’ll be three classes – Legends, MX5s and SpecRacer Fords-- and the champion of each class takes home 50 iRacing credits along with their title. Also back by popular demand are the Carburetor Cup and Formula Fun, the fixed setup series that give everyone a chance to sample iRacing’s fastest cars – the Impala Class A (at Talladega Superspeedway) and the Williams-Toyota FW31 (at Circuit Park Zandvoort).
Last but certainly not least, once the new build is released we'll have two very different 24 Hours of Fun series, including a mixed class road racing series chock full of new content including the HPD ARX 01C, Ford GT-R and the Suzuka Circuit and, for those who prefer turning left, the Chevy Silverado at our newest oval, Iowa Speedway.
Serious or fun, some or lots of each, Week 13 is the perfect excuse to play hookie from all those picnics, cookouts and swimming parties and get down to what those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer are really all about: sim racing.
