I´m also not sure wether to use 1st gear in some corners like the 2 lefthanders and the right hander that comes after one of them..

Would anyone like to start a GTP F1 league where we only run on proper F1 tracks?

Okayama
Zandvoort
Spa Franchorchamps
Suzuka when it arrives
Silverstone

They could be run 2x so you have some experience going into the the second race.
I'd definitely be down for that once I get up to speed!!

I would definitely be down. I dont own zandvoort or Silverstone. I was thinking about getting Silverstone soon though. Indianapolis? That's a proper F1 track, I think atleast. Went to every year the F1 circus was there :)

Got down to a 1:09.0 today in a practice session. Basic high df setup. Reading the F1 and setup guides right now so I can start tinkering.

What is that?

Here's every promo code (but beware, some don't work anymore)

He's referring to this one: "3 months + Williams FW31 (F1 Car), Silverstone, and Zandvoort for $35 - PR-VirtualR or PR-GP3"

and yes, that's definitely the best way (even better would be the 1 year for $75 deal, but yeah) for a road racer. Two solid tracks and the pinnacle of all cars just to give you something to shoot for. 👍

Oh well I already have a two year subscription and the FW31, so that wouldn't benefit me lol. If your new to the game you will not be able to race the FW31 officially until you have the correct license.

Yeah, it's only for new subs.

I bought the FW31 at launch just because it's an F1 car and, at the time, I was hot lapping in Ferrari Virtual Academy over and over again and itching for a race in a sim scale modern F1 car. The Ferrari as a car in FVA was almost as good as the FW31 but the tires were definitely a lot better.

But I still don't plan on ever getting an A license in iR. I have fun just doing the occasional race in Formula Fun and it'll be good now to be able to practice in A license servers.

But just to clear it up for anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about:
The FW31 (Williams' F1 car) is an A license level series car. There's ranking in iRacing in order for you to qualify to race in official iRacing series with specific cars at different license levels.

You graduate through the levels by maintaining a good safety rating and completing pre-requisite race mileage with at least one car at each level before moving up to the next.

F1's, properly, at the top. And it's necessary too because you really do need to be at a high level to race F1 cars in a safe and clean way.

I'd be down for that 👍 Not sure how much interest you will be able to drum up on GTPlanet though :indiff:

TA, I think I'm going to try iracing out for a while! I'm not sure yet, gotta make sure I can free up a pc along with a couple other things, but hopefully I'll be racing by the end of the month. 👍

Sounds good dude! You can't go wrong with iRacing, especially with PSN and GT5 as jenk as it is atm (not to mention there's nothing that comes close to the iRacing FW31 in GT5) Let me know when you get it so we can meet up for some practice 👍

GTP league would be good but time zones would most likely rule me out... Making an attempt to go for a pro license in the FW31 this season, but time zones kill the aussies a bit for the high SOF races unfortunately.

Do you think the 6 cars that come with it should be good? Or should I just buy some others right away?

From what you've seen/heard about the official F1 series, how populated are the races? High or low participation level?

Put it this way isamu:

It's - by far - the biggest thread for an individual series on the iRacing forums.

Very active with most races going official during the week.

I´ll make a thread just to see how many that would be interested in a mini league.

Mads, i had a few Aussies in my Endurance races i did :) Some of them slept 1-2 hours then joined the game LOL, talk about dedication!

I agree, time zones suck big time.

What would the time be at your place if we decide to run a race at 21.00 GMT /9.00PM?

That´s 11pm for me,

9GMT for me would be about 7am in the morning I could do it depending on the day, weekends of course....

Idk time zones very well... I'm eastern us. What time does that make 9 GMT?

Surely you must know in what city you live in? :)

The time is fixed at 21.00 GMT, to find out what the time is in your city just scroll down and find your city or some area that is the closest to you.

hampus_dh
Nevermind i looked it up for you, next time if you don´t have a link like the one above, just type in Cincinnati GMT and click on the first link.
Which is this one, http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=414

As you noticed, the GMT offset time is there and yours is UTC/GMT -4 hours

So if a race starts at 21.00GMT, it means the race will start at your place at 5 PM

Oh lol. On a weekend I should be able to do it. Unless I'm racing myself one of those weekends. I'm in though

I would definitely buy some other cars otherwise you'll be missing out IMO. I think they have a special introductory package atm (I believe it requires some type of key code) that includes the 6 standard cars, plus the Williams FW31 F1 car as well 👍 As far as the standard cars go (cars included with initial subscription), the the MX-5 is a good car to start with, especially if you're trying to get acquainted with the game and are trying to get your rating up (something I'm not all that worried about though). If you don't mind laying down some extra cash for some new cars, the Radical, C6R, and FW31 are my faves/recommendations

Man i´ve been hauling that Williams around now like a dog ;)

08.5 and Opt 08.1

Still feel i can do a 07.9 with more practice and getting a setup that fits my bill just perfect ;)
Have like 5 of them now from different people and they all do certain parts of the track very good but lack in others etc.

I also did the right hander after the back straight probably better then Niemenen WR holder :P
I was ment to spin out but the car just got in a zone where it just flew round the corner, totally unrealistic but man it went quick. I did not touch any controllers during the slide, basically it found it´s way round without me :)

Unfortuantely i haven´t been able to reproduce it lol.
