You should always set it to 900 degrees if you can. The game will set itself up to whatever steering lock the real car has anyway.
Like the F1, i have 900 degree but the wheel stops turning at 400something so it´s just like having 400 degrees.

You wouldn´t drive your own car with 360 degrees on a track ;) That would mean barriers (laughs) :).

Race car steering shafts are designed to lock at 360 degrees. It's the best and most efficient amount. If iRacing had street cars then it would make sense to have 900. But it doesnt.

You know the spec Miatas are the exeption to that, the real life version of that car is a real close to stock car with the obvious modifications for safety and performance but they reatain their oem steering rack wich is pretty close to 900 degrees.

I run 900 degrees and I agree with Hampus... The game is setup around 900 degrees I believe. In the V8SC I never use more than 360 degrees lock, but I have my wheel set to 900. I use even less in the F1, probably only 300 if not even less. 900 lock is the way to go for sure in iRacing, it feels a bit weird if you don't set your wheel up that way.

I also have it set to 900 all the time, and the game does everything by itself. I play with the F1 on 900 degrees and it stops turning after it's supposed to. I play with 450 degrees on TDU 2 and one time I left it on and when I went on to use the V8SC it was way too sensitive. It's just best to keep it at 900 full time for iRacing

Hopefully more people sign up. I'd love to run with you guys @ Spa. Sebring's short track at night would also be a must 👍

But that's two tracks to buy so I don't know whether it would be worth it for people that just got the game. Maybe we could stick to free tracks at first then try plunging into one track everyone would need to purchase and that track should be Spa :D.

Race car steering locks in the appropiate place wether it´s 360, 450 (Formula 1 ish) or 900 (Mustang FR500S)

There is no car in the game that i know that has a lock of just 360 degrees, F1 is the closest i know which is "35min" of lock to the right and left. V8 i cant remember but maybe it has a much tighter rack.

Just got back from some running in the V8...
Let´s just say i was reminded why i completely hate this car and why i think it should be called V8 Superboats.

Then when i finally manage to do some laps 16.3 i think was the best i tab out to see the WR only to find out Madison here is over 2 seconds faster..
Could you by any chance show us a video on that lap? I don´t understand how it´s possible to go so much faster without either spinning out or braking into corners.

2 things i´ve noticed with the car. The brakes have been stolen and the rear tires have been replaced with two gigantic blocks of ice melting in the sun.
/rant over.

with the Riley i´m at most 1.5 second slower then the WR holder if i really set my mind to it. In this car it´s more like 3 seconds. THREE FULL SECONDS :)

I hope the V8 is one of the first road cars to get the new tire model. It is really a cool car, but its handling is absolutely stupid. There is no way the real car drifts and slides around like that.

Yes, in real life it is a big, heavy, powerful sedan and you don't expect it to handle like a DTM, but the handling in iRacing is a bit ridiculous. Boat is an appropriate description indeed.

Why is it so difficult to have a clean incident free race? 15 laps in and I'm in 1st, I don't wanna be on first I just want a clean incident free race, 2nd place is closing in fast, I'm laping at a conservative pace 1:01.xxx 2nd place is closing in so I move off line to let him pass cleanly, but no! He has to tuck in behind me and slam into me! Ok, the perfect race is out of the picture now, let's just finish this thing, lap 17 lapping traffic this guy loses it and slams into me sending me spinning into the barriers on the fastest part of the track!
Damn!! I just sat on the pits till the whole thing was over! At least my iRating didn't suffer too bad, but it should've been much much better! Sitting at 2.73 at the moment +.23 at the moment.

sr, Jav SR! :)

I did not want to give up on the V8 so i did some more practice hehe ;)
doing better, noticed that i´m faster with racec fuel the Q fuel for most part of the track.
Also getting to know how to transition the car through corners the fastest.
But i´m losing massive time in braking zones, especially the hairpin.

A little update on my paint scheme progress: I've managed to get two paint Schemes done and I already am having a hard time determining which one I'd like more to submit for the contest As I love them both. Will start on my third one later on today and when I'm done, I'm gonna gauge which one everyone thinks I should enter, either posting all three paint schemes here or putting up a thread with a pole.

I live in Guaynabo currently, but I'm originally from Cuba. I've been to Ponce a few times and I like it, the people from there that I know are all friendly.
As for the V8 handling like a boat, that's partly the fun of it. The other thing about that car is that you feel like you are going slow when you are actually going VERY fast, it just has loads of power

Random post:
One of my racing buddies IRL is sponsored by iRacing.
Do you think he could get me a few free months?

Random answer: Yes, i´m sure he could get you some form of "try iracing" code or whatever.

RACECAR: Do you want me to take some pictures of the skins?

I just finished the video for the video contest yesterday, It's not really that good compared to the stuff I've seen other people do, but it's difficult to do the music by myself plus I haven't mastered Sony vegas yet. I'll be posting it later here once it uploads to see if I can get some opinions from you people. I'm satisfied with the outcome, but next time will definitely be better

Once I send you them, please do.

I'm gonna host a session tomorrow afternoon for MX5 Roadsters @ Okayama, and other tracks, for any GTP member (I'll post the name and password here).

Guys if I were to buy a car to throw arround the track and have some fun with, wich car would you recomend? Needs to be a road racing car, I like light nimble agile cars. Any suggestions?
Already have the basic cars and the Williams F1, wich is way over my abilities at this moment!

Y'know, every time I'm THIS close on deciding to start my iracing career and prepare to start playing it seriously, I read stories like this and say to myself "Why even bother?". With Dirt 3 out, F1 2011 right around the corner and a myriad of other racing games, who wants to deal with crap like this? I dunno guys, the game has a lot of amazing things about it, but incidents like the one described above has me second guessing my desire to play it.

No matter what game you play, you get people who drive like that. It's unavoidable, no matter what. The only thing stopping me from getting it is the price at the moment, but as soon as I get some sort of income I'm going to be on it like a hawk 👍

You have to take into consideration that you drive in the Rookie class.
You cannot compare the driving in let´s say a beginners cart series to V8 supercar series, Star Mazda series or even the F1 series IRL.

Rookie class is not representative of how the racing is in iRacing at all.
Your job is to put down the time, one full day will guaranteed get you out of R class, one race per day will only exaggerate the anger you feel after someone punted you off the track instead of doing another one right after.

Trust me, the grass is greener on the other side ;) And in general it gets greener until you come to F1, seems like some people are rookies in that class based on what spectated.
