Wait so if you ran a lot of series and completed all you would get $10 for each?

So if you could effectively cut your costs a whole lot?

But I have to buy stuff for the GT Cup. :D
Think I might go for that 100 for 75 deal though.
Is the GT Cup any cleaner than the iRN Challenge? Because I have yet to gain positive SR in an iRN race.

It definitely is a lot cleaner! You could always wait till that series go to Okayama and not buy any content...

I'll grab a couple of the tracks that are on the schedule before that.

Some stuff on my to buy list:
Sebring
Spa
Daytona Road
Road Atlanta
Silverstone
Mid-Ohio

All the cars are iffy, I wanna do some research first but here's what I have in mind...
Skippy
TDI Cup Car
Ford GT or Vette (Leaning towards the Ford)
Ford V8 Supercar
And MAYBE the Lotus and DP or HPD
And I'll deffinitely be pre ordering the McLaren and RUF when they become available. :sly:

No it's a $10 max per season, $40 max per year. You get $4 a season for D & C class races and $7 a season for B & A class races. You have to do at least 1 race in 8 different weeks out of the 12 week season. Even if you run 2 series it's still $10 max per season.

HPD and DP are must buy cars! Those 2 are 2 of the best cars in the service! On the tracks, well they all are great! I'd replace Road Atlanta with Watkinsglenn wich definitely is the most used and everyone's favorite. Also, if you didn't like the Caddy you won't like the V8.

Alright, thanks Jav!
And how difficult is the Skippy to drive? It looks like it sounds like it's pretty hard to learn but once you get the hang of it, great fun.

gogatrs, it ends tomorrow so hurry.

👍
I'll be getting it I think.
Didn't think I'd be spending $125 on sim racing in the course of two weeks.

And I just had the best practice session yet.
Finally hooked up with one of my OLD OLD karting buddies that I haven't seen for two years or so. Him, his brother, and I all went nose tail for about fifteen laps until we started putting each other in the wall.
He got down to a 59 flat (!?!?!) on Lime Rock with the MX5 Cup. We were gonna try and go for a track record with the draft but he had to go.
I improved my time as well. Got down to a 1:00 flat after following and watching him for a few laps.

And I take that back about the McLaren :(

DP is a blast, I just got it and it has pretty much taught me infineon, I couldn't do it in the cadillac but with the DP I was actually capable of putting down a clean lap or 2

Actually I have a question about the DP, I had a bit of trouble with the brakes being pretty stiff, they are extremely touchy, it's almost but not quite as bad as turning ABS off and leaving the brakes @ 5/5 on GT5. I slid the brake curve factor from 1.59 down to .24 that seemed to help some, any other ways to deal with this?

And regarding the MP4, Darn, I was looking forward to it, I was planning on buying 3 content items for the 10% discount being the V8, the MP4, and my last road course Brands hatch, but oh well maybe a short track oval for season 2

Alright, thanks Jav!

Which car are you using at Lime Rock? I've been using the Cup for everything now, and I discovered that you shouldn't ever use third gear at LRP. 4th and 5th only. Third gear goes to about 74mph and you don't drop much below 70 in the slowest turn (T3/Left Turn).

Eric.

I use the Cup as well.
I like to drop down to third closer to the middle of big bend to help keep it on the cement with the engine braking. I also drop down to third in the left handed.
Most of the fastest guys do that, but I'll try out staying in fourth next time I'm on.

Next season I'm going to purchase DP, is it that good? I want to buy it but I'm worried about having empty races :scared:

The DP is awesome, I can't overstate that enough. You will not be disappointed. I haven't actually raced it though, I still need to master it.

There won't be any empty races to worry about. The DP is much like the HPD since it normally outnumbers Mustangs entered by about 3 to 1. But with the Mustang having the NTM now, I think we will see more well balanced fields and renewed interest in the series.

In other news: iRacing is scanning Bathurst and Rockingham (the American oval) finally. Aussies rejoice!

Nice. Both tracks will be day one purchase here. Bathurst is going to be all kinds of awesome and so is Rockingham. Too bad NASCAR dropped them off the schedule. Its a nice track, not to mention a bit different than most tracks on the schedule.

This is too good of news. i know tons of people want the ring. but Bathurst is just perfect in my opinion and a much better option!

That's awesome news! Bathurst is an awesome track! Hopefully we will get the Ring soon!

And how difficult is the Skippy to drive? It looks like it sounds like it's pretty hard to learn but once you get the hang of it, great fun.

I found it incredibly easy - if you practice and get used to the Spec Racer Ford you will be more than prepared for the Skip Barber. The SRF has a lot more rear-bias and gets you used to being ultra-careful on corner entry as well as teaches you to balance the car with the throttle.
The Skip Barber is very easy to drive as long as you drive it fast enough. Its when you don't drive it fast enough it becomes difficult - half of its handling ability comes from putting the throttle down nice and early and using it to balance the car. If you're being too careful and slow the car can get quite snappy and lose the rear easily.

The SRF doesn't have this problem so much but it turns better when you put the power down earlier - so by learning this cornering technique of slowing down early and then powering around the corner, you effectively learn the safest way of driving the Skippy.

However, despite this, I feel the Skippy is actually also quite controllable on the edge. You can actually catch slides quite early and you can man-handle it around the race track with plenty of counter-steer. Its pretty fun really. It just takes some patience and a good understanding of balancing the throttle to really enjoy driving it.

It took me less than 10 laps to really settle with it - I actually find its got a fair bit in common with the MX5 and most of your lines, braking points and general control you learn from Lime Rock and Okayama in the MX5 carries over to the Skippy fairly well. Its just you have to remember the tyres are skinnier, the speed you reach corners is higher and the brakes are less forgiving and easier to lock-up. But the speed and attack you put into the corners is similar I find. I actually find Lime Rock easier in the Skippy than the MX5 just because the last corner is a bit more straight-forward.

Either way you will learn a lot driving it so I recommend it. 👍

Bah, thought I'd be able to get the 100cfor 75 deal today, but I guess it already ended.
I'll still get the F2000 sometime soon though.

N/m just got the credits. :D
