Someone in that post commented about DX11, iRacing neither confimed or denied... Maybe there's a surprise coming with the 64 bit upgrade?

Starting to dislike iRacing.. After about an hour or so of practice at Suzuka West I head out onto track in the Skippy, 5 minutes later i'm in the pits. Car was towed there. When the timer hits 0 I fly out to hear "Your car has too much damage, you will have to come in and pit"

Thought you could get a free fix?

This exact same thing happened to me last night. I got rear ended braking for corner 2. I got towed in and waited the 2 mins. Then I left the pits and it black flagged me for too much damage. Yet the car drove perfectly. Obviously some sort of glitch

So I'm pretty sure mines a 64 bit (assuming that because my computer came with IE with the 64 bit and 32 bit versions), but does this mean that it'll be slower than original since I'm only using a laptop and it'll use more memory, or faster because it won't have to translate from 32 bit (if I decided to use the 64 bit version if they were alluding to having 2 versions)(I know very little about hardware and how it works)?

It'll allow the application to be faster because the system can use more than 4GB of memory. Also 64-bit processes have more internal registers (small units of memory, for storing a few bytes that the processor needs to work with for a computation), so it won't have to swap that data out to system RAM as often to bring in different data to work with.

It's like having a garage and cars to work on. With two garage bays (memory registers) and 6 cars (data) needing work(computations), you can bring in two of them at any time as you have the parts to fix them. If you finish one job on the first, but don't have the parts to finish other things, you need to move that car back out and bring in one that you do have the parts for. That takes up some time. If you have four garage bays you can keep more cars in the garage.

Thanks eric I think I get it now.

Are the SRF similar to the Radicals or completely different? Are the radicals a fun car to drive? I never did figure out what they are and what series they run in

Need some more drivers for a hosted endurance race at Zolder. It's gonna be the Cadillac, Ford GT, and Radical.

Timing is terrible for me, but it sounds like a great time, so I'm going to wake up at 3am to do the race. :)

If you own these cars and the track, come join us! I'll be in the Radical.

I'm already booked for that time, or I'd hop in the Radical as well.

Roush, the SRF and Radical are nothing alike. The Radical drives similarly to a prototype (HPD) and is a lot of fun.

Hmmm, I thought about looking into the HPD but didn't want to be that HPD guy if you know what I mean, I'll check it out a little more

Its pretty easy to drive, but the last time I was in an open practice I was quite a bit off pace of everyone else. I think you'd enjoy the Radical. Apparently its one of the cars where you need to race at certain times, it doesn't go official so much.

Already registered! And yes the Radical is an absolute blast! I love that car!!
Just stay away from the curbs...

There's so much I already want, I'd have to make room on my list  I'm waiting for ISR to show their DIY 80/20 rig. I've thought about a DIY 80/20 rig but I started to lean towards the grandstand, and I almost bought one but I want to see ISR's rig first now

You can make awesome stuff out o 80/20! plus you'll get the satisfaction of doing it yourself to your liking!

That's what I like about it but the catalog is probably the most organized catalog yet the most confusing  I just need to be pointed in the right direction of a parts list and I need a spare week to appear out of thin air :sly:

Ran some practice laps (in a quali session, lol, double-purpose) in the V8. I think I had a 1'37.998. The web server was being a little flaky at the time, so I hope it recorded the session. I was able to open the results so I think its alright. Looks like I need to find about another second, which shouldn't be that hard. Still not expecting to have to race it.

Hey guys, how important is the quality of the internet connection for iRacing? If I get quite a bit of lag on the Xbox/PS3, will it be the same playing on a PC?

If you have high latency then it wont magically help to race from your computer. But at least on the PS3 (GT5) use a mesh system to run online rooms. That means all guys entering the room have to send their data to everyone in the room. So if anyone in that room have a bad upload speed the lag is doomed to happen. In iRacing they have dedicated servers so you upload should be 128 or higher (witch I think everyone in the world have access to in 2012)

So you wont lag because the "game" isn't really made for online play. Because iRacing is all about online racing.

But like I said, a computer wont heal your internet connection if its a really bad one.

Occasionally when my connection gets bad, every car in the game will blink, and maybe just disappear, and a red bar will appear in the top left and if it reaches full it'll say something like I had connection issues and I have to leave the server, if it's practice or quali you can rejoin but 9 times out of 10 my signal is just weak and you have to reset your router or mode, but to everyone else I am disappearing and reappearing.
If someone else hase connection issues it gets really scary because they will be the only car blinking, they'll disappear then reappear then disappear and if you're racing them it's pretty scary because they can magically reappear right next to you. But these things don't happen often, my modem does it to me on fairly hot days though.
Also another way to know your signal is starting to drop is all cars disappear from the "Relative" info box. So it just depends on how often your signal drops most of the time, but it won't lag like Gt5 like Erik said.

I have yet to see a wreck from connection issues, but I have seen 1 or 2 wrecks from someone blinking for a long time then reappearing right next to someone on a straight just before a corner and neither one notices the other

Is there a way to get placed against more competetive people? I keep getting placed in the top split in basically every race I do and get stuck with all the aliens, where I'm not even competitive at all.. I'm no slouch, but no alien either..

The more splits the more competitive, depends on how many people race, it's better to have 100 signups than 10

I think im gonna have to shut iracing down until my pc is built, i just tried doing some practice in the cadillac cup and im all over the place because i cant see much. Im ordering the last pieces of my build next week so hopefully in less than 2 weeks it'll be up and running like it should be. Then ill start getting some DLC and really get serious with the game.

Depending on how high your IR rating is, don't qualify and you get placed according to how high your IR is. Are you still racing the Mustang?

If you keep racing and losing iRating you'll end up dropping down into the next split.

Also, I came in here to put in a plug for the CESCS race happening at Homestead-Miami in about 1hr 15m (7:20pm east coast time). Check it out at www.glaciertv.com (hopefully they broadcast this time).

Ok, thanks. I thought maybe because iRacing has dedicated servers it wouldn't be as bad. Seriously thinking of getting this as a training tool
