Just tried the mustang at Laguna with the mouse... OH NO, OH GOD NO!

You have to move the mouse up and down for acceleration and braking, while steering... With the mouse moving it right and left...

Soooo Top of the first quadrant is full gas and turning right all the way, Top of second quadrant is full gas and turning full left. Bottom of third quadrant is full brake and turning full left and bottom corner of the fourth quadrant is full brake and turning right all the way.

Anyone who makes it out of the rookie class using this is absolutely NUTS.

Sounds really.... stupid. :dopey:

So I've decided to give iRacing a try. I've started ordering parts for a new pc with the goal of running triple screens eventually. I'll be running on a 42" LCD for a while, though. And using a beefy laptop until I complete my gaming rig.

Anyway, looking at the available "deals", I think the Cadillac Cup promo is still the best, right? Assuming the 3 free tracks are needed to progress? If my math is right, the Caddy deal saves you over $65 and the 50% deal would just save $50 (for 1 year).

But if you planning for the long term. you would indeed save 65´% but the next nine months you pay 100%. If i would start again i would pay 89.5$. its 50% for 2 years long. Of course you must be sure you play that long. and you got 9 tracks if i am correct...

But thats just me

yeah it is. Kinda strange they change it when the season is already started. the day before the update i have less points becaus of the old system and it does not seeme to change it...

And it does not change the fact you get high points for none existing races.

I had a "race" whit 3 drivers(me included) whit high irating. One guy retired. And i got 2ndplace. I was slow and i got 90 points just for being there. thats not right to me.

I did bought & tested some cars, whitout any practise i immidiatly jumped into races whit cars i don't know. ofcourse I am alot of seconds to slow in all cars but i think i can close the gap whit some more experience.

I tested the HPD ARX the Corvette and The Ford GT in the same champion.
I think i will pick one. I love the big grid.

I also tested the Star Mazda. And I love that car. My first opinion: its easy to drive but not easy to be fast. So it was a mistake to jump into qualy & race whitout practise. it cost me some Irating & SR. I also like the way how you can catch oversteer whit that car. It would give me a big challenge to drive the Championship.

Later i gonna test the Ford falcon and the Jetta. The problem is i love most cars and championships. That makes it hard to pick a league.

A little word of advice. Don't be doing this.

Well Grand Am have me for the second season because I'm waiting for SuperGT to arrive. I think I stick around in Grand Am because the people there are nice, well most of the guys anyway. So more championships can be a good thing, but not any more American race series. When BTCC and SuperGT get's to the service we might see a lot more European guys join the fun and lot's of guys run in more than one championship so it might help the service in the end.

Super GT will hopefully bring in some Japanese users. I have been trying to get some sort of partnership with iRacing since I race in Japan and can help build a group of users in Japan but, iRacing seem to have no interest as they haven't responded to any of my 6 emails. :(

 iRacing just went down? Was turning into the last corner at LRP and everything locked up (the computer, not the car...) Rebooted to a iRacing Maintenance screen :scared:

Partnership with iRacing is a hard nut to crack I believe. I don't know what you typed in your 6 emails to them, but I doubt they agree on a partnership. As partnership usually means deals go both ways.

With full respect to you and your racing, but I'm glad my money I pay to iRacing goes into iRacing and not a partnership with you so they can get some Japanese drivers.
If you could give them some rights to scan some more of the awesome Japanese tracks. I bet they are willing to put you in movie :P Like the guy arranging for them to scan Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Canada.

They have gone wild in scanning tracks in the UK for the BTCC car, and they have only 3 real SuperGT tracks. They have said they have scanned Tsukuba, but that's more fitted as a Rookie track. No SuperGT cars run races on it.

Also, if you go to Malaysia and help give us Sepang I would be glad ;)

I sure hope that the FFB bug affected me and is fixed in game not my wheel. It's weird I don't remember any new builds or changes to affect FFB.

I finally picked up a full-time job, and was thinking of rewarding myself by buying some new content (A first for me). However, I am not sure what to get. The star mazda is tempting because it has great participation, and (supposedly) it is not hard to drive. Another option would be to go for the radical, as it is a logical step up from the SRF. A third option would be to go for the corvette and do the GT challenge series, or even the Mustang or Dp. I am leaning towards the Star Mazda, but I would like some feedback from you guys before I make the final decision.

From one of the road black-stripers (pro iRacer):
Yeah but I am already using keyboard for gears, and my right hand fingers are doing nothing, so it would be much better to have throttle and brake in mouse buttons. I did some further testing in the solstice at okayama as ghost and was able to get laptime 2 secs from the wr, so you can go pretty fast in those abs cars once you learn how to control the car with your mouse.

2 secs off the WR is probably faster than I am with my CSW. So with some practice, you can be fast with the mouse too. Same as touch. People need to stop getting so up in arms over this.

Be careful how you use "hard to drive". Some of the fastest iRacing road cars aren't "hard to drive" in the slightest. You'll just be eating everyone elses dust until its no longer so easy to handle.

Eric.

Haha, fair enough. Just because it's easy to drive doesn't mean it's easy to drive fast right. :)

Yes, a perfect example of that is the HPD. Anyone, even a granny, can drive that car at 90%. At the limit, though, its a handful. I would go with the DP, maybe a bit hard at first, but one of the most rewarding cars on iRacing I think. You feel connected to the road in that thing.

Finally! A logical BC Canadian. Those riots... :sly:

Anyways, I'm only here because I got my first job. :) I immediately went for the Jetta. I'm two seconds off of the pace set by the Division 1 leaders, but I fit right into my own Division, division 6.

I find the Jetta really fun, and can't wait for the BTCC car. I'm going to get the Mustang, DP and Star Mazda, just so that I can fulfill my MPR, SR, and race in the GTPlanet iRacing Associazcione (spell?) with GTP guys... The decision's up to you, but, you're on the right track, in terms of what I hear is fun. DP and Mustang, I hear, are quite fun, and GTP has some previous Star Mazda champions. Either of those work. I'm still scared of those idiot HPD drivers, so I'm not going to get the Ford GT, nor the Corvette.

Other than that, Jav, and others, I need advice of my own. So, I'm leading my division in points, but, I want to win the championship. In order to make it a comfortable gap, should I run another race? If I get a low SoF number, will I lose points?

Starting this season your best 25% of your races count. So it will take your best race finish out of 4 races. You can race 4 times and it's only going to count your best race.

Thanks! :) I'll run some this weekend. The tracks change on Tuesdays?

Depending on where your at. I'm in EST and it's Monday night around 8 pm for me.

Yeah, I'm EST too, but, "Tuesday" is such a round figure... :sly:

Yeah, I guess on Saturday/Sunday, I'll run some more iRaces. :) Thanks again MadRR.

A little word of advice. Don't be doing this.

Don't doing what? Jump into races whitout practise or test the jetta, Ford Supercar.

Anyway the Ford Supercar is a waste of money. it does not brake, it does not turn, it has no grip, and it feels sluggish....is this a racecar?
