I like it due to its stability and running consistent lap times (2.01 & 2.02). Slow I know but I'm really not working on speed right now just control. I did change tire psi to 22.5 front and 23 rear. Seems to handle and brake a little better.

Finally figured out the issue with why Darlington wouldn't download but that track is probably one of the harder tracks to be fast at and pass. Granted it's not super tough or easy to wreck on.

I haven't raced since all the updates but I love the brake squeal and the gear feel now.

. How wild does the Corvette get during a race on used tyres? It may prove to be a better race setup.

It doesn't change much trough a single stint, you can easily put down your fastest time on the last lap if you take care of the tires trough the stint, you don't need to be slow at all just don't overdrive the car and you'll have a good set of tires at the end.

I guess I will be calling Logitech in the morning as I finally broke the wheel. Darlington didn't like it too much and kept cutting out on force feedback along with clicking and just didn't feel right.

Had my first Grand Am race yesterday. The High Downforce setup is pretty slow in Road America for the McLaren so I grabbed a Spa setup from the forums and lowered the wing and brake bias a bit.

Race was good but I ended up making the DP leader spin out when he tried to pass me. It was his fault really as I stood on going straight on the outside just after hurry downs for him to pass me but he thought I was going to take the race line and almost crashed my car. I know it's better for the slower cars to stay on the race line but it's his responsibility to safely pass me. If he had lifted a bit to see what I was doing this wouldn't happen.

Currently down to a high 2'01 in the McLaren at Suzuka. Got a little more in it if I creep around at 50mph for the outlap like everyone else appears to be doing. Unbelievable that people are 2-3 seconds faster than that, still. Is there an overboost button I haven't found yet? :)

I'm in the same situation. I can get to 2'02's (ok, a slightly slower boat ;)) but I'm stuck there.
I'm totally snowed in today though so I think it's time to figure out tuning a bit better. So far I've been using modified Spa tunes so hopefully a start from scratch will help.

What's the idea behind super slow out laps? Something with the tires?

Yeah cold tires are faster. They seem to have all the tires modeled off the main oval cars. Like it real life in nascar the first lap out on cold tires is the fastest and it works the same on the oval & road cars in iracing. So yeah on Q laps its best to creep around on the out lap real slow and on fixed setup series it's best to do a few laps and run some of the fuel out of the car then do a slow down lap to cool the tires then go for your Q lap. It's a pain I know, but it's worth around second difference, depending on the car, with the cooler tires.

Wow, I had no idea - thanks for the info.
I was wondering why quali times were so fast but race times were 1-2 seconds off for the most part (when I compared grid times to race times of other drivers). I've been pretty close to my practice times in the races so I was a bit lost as to what was going on.

Anyone else excited for Proto/GT going to Sonoma Long this season? :)

I think it's an unconventional track so many people will complain but I really like the track and the great "club" feel that it has to it.

Damn, that God-damn Pontiac in the God-damn InRacingNews Challenge is a piece of crap on that track. I'm hating that track at the moment. In other news, the Mazda Cup has the best track at the moment!

I love Sonoma, great track. Grand Touring Cup is on it this week, picked up a win yesterday in the Solstice :p

I'm getting sick of this 'sim' now.

I am trying to get my safety rating back up for a poor point (1.3, had a couple of really really bad races after promotion that put me off playing) and I keep getting hit by imbeciles. I am getting absolutely frustrated with this, I feel like ripping my wheel off of the desk and giving it a jolly good spanking.

I know the feeling, i have had the same frustration, sometimes i still do. Try to learn a other way of driving! I am not saying your driving is bad. But it worked for me. Most of the time i try to drive "slow" but save to prevent incident points. Gradually pick up the pace. Try not to drive faster (so overdrive) to keep the pace compared to others or fight to hard to overtake or to defend.
Also If you are running in a single league every week. Try to know the people around you. Whit ones are clean side by side, which one can't handle a car or which ones are blocking/waving bumping or are agressive at overtakes.

When a agressive driver is behind u, let him more or less pass. You don't get a hit from behind. Also its very much likely he eventually ruins someone elses race and you gain 2 places.

In the end "slow" is "fast" when u gradually improve your skills.

Its not a guaranty you will be save from some drivers but you avoid alot of incidents.

I usually race for the win but after a couple of bad drives, I find myself having to wait about 30 seconds so everyone else is gone just so I can avoid any x4's!

Ditto dude. Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. I'm just running practice sessions till the idiots subside.

There are tonnes of idiots out there at the moment. I've had dudes that have come off and tried to re-enter the track in front of me on purpose to take out their anger, guys that lock up on purpose to push you off the track and generally bad racing etiquette from some. The oval race I ran today was possibly the worst I had been in. One guy had a 0.8 SR and just tried to destroy leaders' races because he was lapped.
