Sorry man, haven't touched the Vette in quite a while and I do miss it but work these days is pretty crazy no time for nothing...

No worries mate. I'll try hanging out in one of the practice sessions hoping to lure people in to give me a setup.

First two races of the season went well. Won both with the SRF at Laguna Seca. Started from pole and didn't have much trouble with the other drivers. I had some serious trouble with framerate drops in some turns though, got to tweak the graphics settings tonight. Funny thing is it only happened in races, I had no trouble during practice sessions.

Maintenance ;(. Found a setup for the Corvette but I actually prefer the fixed setup lol! Don't know how well the fixed setup will handle a race though. I'm guessing not very well. :)

Tell me about it, I get 2 days off a week and its hard to get some iracing in when theres so much stuff that needs to be done in those 2 days. I keep saying im gonna run a full schedule in the GT series but it has yet to happen lol.

Thats awesome Mac, you're getting up there! Im at 2100 something now, it was 2500+ but i made the mistake of jumping into races with no practice just because i missed racing. Hows the real life racing?
Funny how this game and the worry about loosing iR can keep you from racing, at least that's my excuse... The last 3 races I've done have costed me some iR because I can no longer dedicate 1-2 hrs of practice to get back up to speed and by the time I can comfortably push the race is already half way trough and the leaders wayy in front!

Lol!! You know, about a year ago the fixed sets where complete crap, but as the car and NTM have evolved the setups have been getting better and better...

I'm the same way with my SR, I'm barely capable of maintaining a 2.0+ C license at least in the SM last season, and I don't want to lose my C class purchase privileges.

Exactly what Im scared of I've invested over $150 for this season

I guess I'm still in the drive-clean-at-all-costs mindset. My SR is like A 3.5 on Road and B 3.6 on Oval and I just started with iRacing in October. I think it's about time to start pushing a little harder and maybe give up a little SR to increase my iRating. (1600 Road, 2000 Oval)

I don't care about iR one bit, but that's because I don't really practice anyways. My schedule is so sporadic that I have no idea when I'll be able to race during any given week. I always make time, but it's not always the same time. So I practice enough to not be dangerous on the track and then enter the race. So I think I'll always be around 1500 iRating for both oval and road, but that's fine by me.

That's how I feel. Just roll with it and not be a hazard.

I think you guys are right about divisions being related to iRating. I think I started off last season around the 2750 mark and ended the season at 3500+ (I think I may be at 3700 but I can't remember). The increase into the 3000s would move me up to Div 1 I guess.

I have to agree. Last season I was running fixed sets with very minor adjustments and seemed to be relatively quick with them.

That's how I've been racing. But lately between watching the live NiWCS races and being single now, I'm trying to push to get my iRating up there with the Pro's. You can just call me the next Ray Alfalla

I was hust like that when I wanted to get to A license and for a while on A I'd get frustrated when some whack clueless HPD driver crashed into me or ran me off teack, then after talking to Shinya I got some sense slapped into my face and stopped caring about SR, then almost immediately I got more consistent, faster and my iR went up, SR comes and goes if I get in a bad pissition regarding SR I'll just make it up without even trying in a week. Guess when you're not worried about loosing it you stop trying not to go off and start staying on track if that makes any sense...

I've had some rough times in indycar at Charlotte. It's not even hard to drive but the high line is iffy coming out of 4 as car seems to suck to the wall (don't want to pinch inside guy either).

I made probably the biggest mistake other day, I didn't see someone sideways stopped under caution and pretty much took myself out but damage was only 2 mins. I fixed it and about the time i was up to speed out of 4, it didn't react like I expected and turned into the wall. I tried to get it off the track as I'm slowing/spinning was right in the middle of the track as leaders got to me. Yea I heard a few choice words which I felt extremely bad about but seems everyone wants to complain more than understand it was a mistake that happens.

I got my perfect pedal and bodnar cable today, I just finished a race with it and I absolutely love it. Though it is not cheap, it is worth it.

Sounds to me like you're trying to run way to many series, to each their own I guess.

That's what I like to hear. I thought it was going to take time getting used to, but the first turn with it (summit point) I braked deep and it felt natural.... Smooth and controlled

I've had the same problem for about a week now. I have reduced many of the graphics settings that aren't important and that has helped a bit. Still room for improvement though. I'm not sure what has caused the problem though. It all went downhill a few days after the new build and I hadn't changed any settings. Great one day , almost undriveable the next. ????
Worst thing is I had the graphics tuned to perfection since updating the drivers to 314.22 and making some changes in game and also in Inspector. That was about a month ago. Oh well , it was good while it lasted ! :)

PS: Won a race in the Caddy last night 👍

I noticed a drop also but I'm still running around 300fps, always good to have friends that know computers.... Because I don't haha

300, hell I am happy to get 30-40 during most races! I guess using a basic computer will do that, maybe next year ill finally get one made.

Glad to know that it worked for you :)

It works the same way in real life. Often times you will see drivers with huge leads make a mistake when their team tells them to let off the pace and bring the car home.

Get in a rhythm while driving and stay in it. You'd be surprised at how consistent your lap times will become.

As far as overtaking. A lot of drivers on iRacing make the mistake of trying to make the move too quickly and causing incidents. If the car is much slower than you then it is fine to overtake within a few corners or so but, if the car is a similar pace it changes everything. Wait a lap or two behind the driver. Find his weak and strong points, then try the overtake at one of his weak points. Overtaking at his weak point is a much higher percentage overtaking attempt and if you pull the overtake off, you lose a lot less track time than those drivers who attempt an overtake anywhere on the track. Often times you have some fantastic battles as well, if the driver knows what he's doing, and both of you will have a smile after it whether you came out in front or not.

Just some of the tips that I use in real life that also apply quite well into iRacing.

With the overtaking, and even just battling with another driver, I think you can almost tell when the other driver races IRL. I've had great dices with a few guys, mainly in the V8, and thought afterwards "Wow, he raced me like I would expect IRL and didn't have to change the way I drive knowing it was on iRacing"
Looked a couple up after the races and yep, sure enough they raced IRL

If your problem is only in the races, try lowering the amount of GPU memory the sim is allowed to use, to 150-200 below the actually GPU memory. I had the same problem the 1st time I raced at Suzuka, with 30 cars, and lowering this made a huge difference.

Also, if your running win7, try setting the iRacing application to disable Aero, when it runs.

Invested in the tracks for both Gt challenge and Grand-Am. So say i miss the Gt Challenge I have the grand am to race in :)

It's hardly the most user friendly part of the service...

I'm making my first appearance in a road race tonight. MX5 Cup at Summit Point. Lapping 1m36s so hopefully I won't be finishing at the back of the pack.

It's hardly the most user friendly part of the service...

I was going to say the same thing. I tried to look up a race which took place in a few days time and it wasn't very user friendly.

Just unsuccessfully tried my first race of the week. Finally felt well enough to try and it was going well until about half way. A DP about 3 seconds behind me. Lost concentration going into Eau Rouge and ended up getting a black flag and was told to slow down. Decided to serve my penalty immediately and did that. But then, it gave me another slow down penalty for absolutely no reason. Having never seen this before and slightly panicked. In the panic I forgot that the DP was within 3 seconds before the penalty and was probably close after serving my first. Decided to take my second penalty immediately also and as I started to slow down I checked my rear view and bam I had accidentally turned into the DP driver resulting in a crash. I immediately apologized and stopped my race despite having a car easily able to carry on. I gave him the explanation as to what happened but clearly apologies and an explanation were not good for him. I asked him to please appreciate that I stopped my race (Not to mention my 20 race finish streak, SR gain, and iR gain streak), to explain to him what had happened. Probably not the best thing for me to say now that I think about it. But he then responded with "I'll appreciate it when they ban you from iRacing." At this point I was taking it a bit personal that this guy was not being very nice like 90% of most other iRacing members, after I had said that the incident was completely my fault and was very sorry about what had happened to him, and decided to respond with, "That is very mean to say that. Shows how much character you have."

He is now in the process of protesting me so, we'll see where this go. If I get a ban, fair enough.

Guess I need to learn how to not get angry when people are like this member and will not accept apology and explanation as enough.

Hell will him, you made a mistake and you apologized for it. Things happen and every body messes up, as long as you apologize and man up to it and learn from it them personally I have no problem.
