Is anyone else disappointed with GT5?

again i'll re-iterate what i've said before. Even though Forza 3(or any other racing game for that matter) excels in the features department, it still doesn't grab me as much as GT does. I just think it's the driving dynamics of the game. I've mentioned in another thread that as I play it more, i'm getting less and less disappointed and enjoying it more and more. Last night, I decided to buy a MINE'S GTR to see how it stacks up to other cars and my my that was satisfying. Just to 'FEEL' the difference on how this car is setup compared to other cars is an amazing thing to experience.

Had to take a break from GT5. It's just grind after grind, hurry up and wait in the used car dealer, and lackluster AI and physics.
I might go back to it in a couple weeks.

So they gave us Prologue known as a (data collector) in order to make GT5 a better experience for all of us and I am with many of you really disappointed because it's like they didn't do their homework at all. I think the drifters had establish something on Prologue back there and yet, we get no love at all. Also the online part is really bad, totally rushed and not over looked at all and that goes into the single player as well. Already working on GT6?!? Really, fix GT5 first then maybe you can start working on GT6. We spent a lot of money waiting for GT5 and this is what we get?? Not happy but what can we do. Hopefully they will keep improving online, (FAST)

I agree with every word, the driving model and satisfaction that comes from it is exactly why I've waited so long for this game.

I don't know why there is so much complaining. I'm having a blast and will continue to do so for probably a couple of years. Of course, I may play it different than others. My goal is not to "finish" as fast as possible. In fact, I may never finish. I use it kind of like a car museum. My goal is too drive each and every car in the game in as many A-spec races as it qualifies and on each track the game has. That's where I get my enjoyment. I could care less about the graphics or wheels or anything like that. And in this respect, the game is great.

And I think that's why alot of the complaints such as jaggy shadows, bad AI, and even damage modelling is all trivial to me. I am not there to see that the light hitting the dashboard is creating ugly square blocks (WHO'S LOOKING AT THE DASHBOARD WHEN YOU'RE TRYING TO SHAVE MILLISECONDS!?), or that my bumper is not falling off correctly. I love the fact that each car has its little nuances and gets accentuated when you take it on the 'RING'.
I have my disappointments in the game. I was very vocal about not being able to change rims on standard cars. I was bummed about the lack of customization in the game. I can list other things which I expected to be implemented in the game that were sadly left out. But the pure driving thrill outweighs ALL the negatives in the game for me.

Lets see I am at lv 20 and am just about ready to put it away and start playing something else. I still can not get online, even with the help of the so called experts at the help line. I expected that when I finish a level and go to the next that i would at least be able to purchase the car needed to race, if I had the cash ( oh yeah that's another thing). But no, here i am trying to race against lev 23 cars that I can not even purchase yet.
The cash is too slow.
The XP system is not rewarding.
The online feature is horrible.
The used car dealership is a joke.
There is not enough events.
I am that demo that sony targets, 30+ upper end income with disposable cash, but I also have to work, which means this grinding thing required to play the game at its fullest is a joke!!!
I will play just for the fun of racing I guess because as of now I am at a dead end.

im already back playing forza 3, im at level 25 in gt5 and still dont have the credits to buy top end cars needed for the game. And what was the point of even including the ferrari p1 and miura race car, you'll never be able to afford them to get them, unless u put in a years worth of racing on the same track over and over again.

Well, maybe the online stuff will be helpful, but I love to race and this game is smooth and fast, its great in that regard. I am just of the belief that as you progress through a game you should be rewarded. I have done all the licenses and have gold in every event up to the first event in extreme. Now i see that to progress and get more cars and races I have to do an event ten times over?
Some events I can not even race in because I have to wait for the magical genie to make the car appear in the used car dealership, even then it will be over half my credits because the race pay sucks!!
I guess I am really disappointed because this game could have been so much more.

My only disappointment is that they took the time to include utterly ridiculous and pointless features (cough *NASCAR* cough), when that time could have been spent polishing areas that need it.
That said, there are many things to like (course creator, variety of cars, graphics), and many things that frustrate (dirt rally, AI, loading times, leveling).
When I add up all the pros and cons, I come to the conclusion that GT5 is only just slightly better than GT4 (i.e. more stuff added, but more frustrating).

I am really disappointed with the game for a few reasons
1, the lack of races in A Spec
2, Corvettes sound like blenders, gotta wonder if they have heard a GT Corvette at Le Mans.
3, the level system, seems like that MW2 made everyone go this route and its really killing gaming for me. I dont want to spend all day trying to get from level 21 to 22.
4, B spec, we waited 5 years for that? If i wanted to watch a race, id drive up to Road America and watch it live during the summer.
5, 1000 cars, 900 of which i care less about and 25 to many Nissan Skylines.

Played GT5 yesterday, on a friend's house. I'm very disappointed.
At first I thought the game would be unique, or something similar, but put bluntly it's just GT4. Except it doesn't strike me as amazing as GT4 stroke me back in 2006. Remove the amazing graphics from the game, and what do I have to be amazed at? Physics? I will be honest here, I don't know how many things can be configured in this game, but the first time I drove a car in GT5, I won a race, even after spinning out (albeit this was on "easy" difficulty), using hard sport tires. Considering I was driving an Elise, I expected to spin out from one place to the other, but it just happened once. The rest of the times I managed to control the car at the last second. Perhaps the difficulty has something to do regarding physics, but maybe you guys could enlighten me. My next race put me in a RX-7 Spirit A in a rainy Eiger, compared to an Elise 111R on a sunny Suzuka. Difficulty was set on "normal". It was extremely fun struggling with the car, I can't deny that, it was awesome to overtake a car, just to be overtaken in the next corner by two other cars.
But in the end, I really feel that stripping the game from its realistic graphics leaves me with nothing more than an upgraded in GT4 in some areas, but very downgraded in others.
Loading times are slow as hell, also, regardless if other games do it worse or better.

No offense but I really don't believe GT5 was targeted at 30+ year old's with disposable income. I would say it was more targeted towards teens/20's with appeal to those 30+.

What disappointed me about GT5?
The paltry amount of tracks, the Bugatti Veyron being reduced to a mere standard model, the buggy, unfinished nature of most of the game, the implementation of weather was beyond a let-down, the abominable soundtrack and far too many more things to waste space with here.
I was so irritated and let-down by what the retail version of GT5 contained - I didn't even buy the game.
After all the waiting, after all the hype and after all the promises; Gran Turismo 5 let me down in every possible way. We were lied to from the very start of it's development cycle and that trend continued on until it finally hit store shelves. 👎 👎

- Need a lot more events and races in A-Spec. It's way too small. Some of the events has just 1 race in it! It should have 3 or 4.
- Framerate dips and screen tearing when there are lots of cars on the screen. Sometimes it screen tears when there's just one car!
- Used car dealership is a joke.
- Premium and standard cars is just a stupid idea. Lots of useless standard cars that no one cares about - should have added more good premium cars.
- The menus looks horrible.
- Bad shadows.
- Poor animation of driver's hands (to change the gears) when using interior view.
The game just feels like a 50% completed game. Some of the events were from GT4, not good enough. I want completely new events for GT5.

i sold my 360 a couple of month ago in preperation for GT5, and all i can say now is what a big mistake that was. im level 32 i have been for almost a week now and since i got the redbull X1 i have not touched single player, what else is there worth doing? im not a trophy whore so trophies do not bother me the game has nothing left that appeals to me. online is such a joke i wanna fall asleep. no leaderboards which is a definate must have in a racing game. all thats left to say now is my opinion and i really do think forza is a better game, everything from storefronts to auction house. and why are people saying EA have the porsche license? if thats the case why does forza have porsche? anyway this game has made me decide to sell my PS3 for an xbox. yes people say GT5 will be better with updates etc but i cannot be bothered to sit around getting excited by updates only for it to tweak the damage in online or a little server upgrade. thanks GT5 i will not buy another GT game again. rant over
