is drifting faster?

ummm just to clarify i was not talking about showy sideways drift.... cause that is slow and pointless hehe no offense cause i do it too just not when i race... i am talking about minimizing time in corners i guess i kinda just repeated what treunoae86 said before hehe... the showier drift would be imp on mountains to slow down without braking i would think... saves time and position in the corners... anyways i think yall should just develope yourskills cause ever type of driving has some importance even in gt3 how you think about each corner wether you wanna be fast and first in or fast and first out is important and you gotta be able to know what you are doing and how to do it to be really fast...

so with slip angles trueno would you be wearing the tires evenly??? i would think you would be right... if so that is definitely the fastest way to drive because you are maximizing your control over your car and thus control of line and speed.. ok that is enough from me

I don't think the driftking drift at the mountain pass when he go against R34 in best motoring vol 6.
well I might be wrong, but from what I see, he didn't drift at all.
in that race he just trying to prove in mountain pass a well balance car is better than car that got power but not balance.
what he mean by balance is power, weight ratio IMO.
He win against R34 because in mountainpass where there are alot corner, a lightweight car can go through corner faster where heavy car must slow down.

Drifting is the SLOWEST way around a corner.

Every REAL racer knows that.

i.e. anybody who has REAL LIFE racing experience. (not from a video game)

whats more fun
A) flying around a corner like on rails?
B) flying through the corner crossed up?

i choose B by a long shot

I haven't read the entire thread, but I do feel qualified and knowledgeable enough to say this,

...drifting CAN NEVER be quicker than driving a clean - technical racing line around a normal racing circuit. -- So, again, that's a NEVER!

drifting corners is much easier than trying to grip. plus there are usually no mistakes if your a good drifter. drifting is a good technique though think of it as an option. grip is another option too. if someone was to grip only they wont win garanteed. same with drifting. but if you put both together it would be tough to beat. mainly, the focus is on the exit of the turn.

Lol..Akina that is such a false statement...You're telling me that in order to win the race you must combine drifting with grip driving..The only place that would apply would be downhill/uphill...On a level surface, regular race grip driving will always turn better lap times.

I'm going to say this but this is really my evil twin. Maybe the reason drifting is slower and why F1 s are the fastest is beceause modern technology has crafted its cars for fastest grip performance. It's been up to regular people and racers to get faster drifting cars. If the companies would build cars to drift I think throwing your weight around a corner would produce faster lap times rather than just slow down, turn a bit, then accelerate (gripping)

Just think of it this way..To go faster, requires more $ right?...So things that cost less would in essense be slower..Now....Tires that grip more..cost more than tires that lose traction easier..Right?.....Easy as that

Yes they do.....If you're stupid enough to try and bring them into discount tire and get a free tire plug or something

Lol, To get a Scooby Intercooler though you have to break into the car and pop the hood and then be bent over the engine, which isn't very safe..I'd rather just pull the mesh from the bumper off..unclip the 2 clips and then unscrew 2 fasteners
And have myself a "Decent" intercooler

vinkento, I agree w/your last post. I am a current holder of a patent on a new type of controller , The controller really has nothing to do with the driving part. If a person uses the wheel and pedals then he can get the feel of what the car is doing and adjust accordingly with the gas pedal or brakes.
