@qwbufp noted in another thread that according to this PD website, the release of GT6 is 40 days away: http://unlockgreatness.ca/

"Only 40 days left to play before GT6™ launches. Play now"

That puts the release on Thursday December 12, if my math is correct. Is it just a poorly worded sentence or a Freudian slip?

I've heard of two launch dates. 6/12/13 for Europe and asia and 12/12/13 for US.

If GT6 did get delayed a few days, I'm going to be mad.....

Because I remember "Sony" saying they "promised" there won't be any delays for GT6...

Well, I did some checking and apparently Asia and Japan get it on 5th and rest of the world on 6th. Earlier there were some news floating around that US would get the game 6 days later, 12/12/13

I didn't hear anything indicating that we'd get it on the 12th and this site also quoted Sony (America I believe) as saying that Dec. 6th would be the date for the US. I remember this only due to the fact that my bday is the same day, if it wasn't I'd probably have to go and find the article to be sure.

If they are on time it will be a first for PD, and a first within a year of a release date... I'm pretty nervous as I'm going with gt6 so I can use my old wheels and avoiding new consoles for a bit.

And frankly that's worth them being on time! Forza converts, or the hard core wheel users anyway.

But I'm very nervous, and corporate promises don't hold any water...

GT2 and GT3 were delayed? GT3 wasn't, I know that for sure. But when was/were the official release date(s) initially announced for?

A first for PD? Commmme onnnnnnnn.

You are correct on GT2 and GT1 wasn't delayed either but 3 (pretty sure), 4 (for sure), and 5 we all know were delayed games.

GT1 was delayed; not for very long in Japan (a month or two IIRC), but it took ages to get elsewhere. Not that that should count; it was released, somewhere, right? ;). GT2 I'm not sure of; it was a very strange time of the year, and I remember absolutely nobody being certain it was released or not back on the old granturismo.com forums. Despite Wikipedia's info, I'm positive it wasn't available to the general NA public in November; I remember getting it in that weird week between Christmas and New Years, and the store had readily admitted they had just got it in. In the days before widespread, well-documented internet info, it's a weird black hole.

GT3 was delayed, as it was meant to be a launch title. GT4 was delayed, as was Prologue and (obviously) the full GT5. So, yes, it would be a first for PD to release a GT title on time.

Not counting GT2000, GT3 was delayed from it's original release date of February 2001 to April (later confirmed from the man himself that it was done so he could add cars from the 2001 Detroit Auto Show).

Though if GT6 is going to get delayed, we'll know in the next week or two because they'll have to finish it up and ship it out by then.

edit - Tornado 👍

Let's point out that both GT2 and GT3 had coinciding developments. GT3 "took away" from GT2 one year (in an age where updates weren't possible). GT6 took TWO years away from GT5 in an age when updating is possible. We didn't get leaderboards, we didn't get a greatly improved online mode, we didn't get a greatly improved track editor, but we still simply were given Basics and such (except for tracks that already have weather and time change and weren't implemented in their variations and layouts :grumpy:).

Anyway, is the era of the PS1 and PS2 not any different from this one? Or, has it now changed enough so that a three year development of a GT game (the average is about 3.5 years including GTFIVE) won't go through another delay?

According to Kaz, sounds will be updated, more tracks and cars added, improved AI (in a way we won't see until we... see it), features that couldn't have been updated into GT5, but now can be with GT6, are going to be viable (sentence infraction :D). GT6 might feel incomplete to some after having known the series for more than 15 years, but really, another delay?

I re-edited my original post. GT2 took over two years to make after GT1. After that released, GT3 came out 1 year and a half.

Let's just say these last 7-8 years for GT were bad in terms of deadlines and such (GT PSP?).

And let this thread not be the catalyst to another one of these bogus "discussions". The "40 days left" is an approximation like what was pointed out already. GT5 has +1,000 cars they say (even though there are about +80 more than that); GT6 has +1,200. The thread is bogus, so now I'm wondering: what date were the official times for GT2 and GT3 to be released for?

Slipz is right and I'll help with the GT2 stuff (somewhat), http://www.ign.com/articles/1999/11/05/gran-turismo-2-delayed

Not sure how to do links anymore: side note

Not sure, but what I can tell you is that many of these were delayed, so you are right to be worried because history dictates.

@LMSCorvetteGT2 cheers, I thought so. As for links, text you want hyperlinked is how you can do it if you don't want to just paste the plain link 👍
