Is the Vision Gran Turismo project done?

Jordan is actually a Nike brand. They also branch out doing more than shoes now, they also do alternate kits for Paris St Germain FC (who use Nike football kits).

Saying that I would say that the Jordan brand is more of a lifestyle brand, which would do it no harm to create A VGT car based on what Jordan is all about.

Yea I'm aware of Nike ownership. Growin up as I did you weren't cool unless you always had the freshest gear.. and it's still the same. All a ploy to drive profits while the product remains cheap, cheaper to make and even cheaper to produce (not cool). Modern day slave drivers. Companies are free to do what they wish of course, it just feels totally insincere to me. They have 0 relationship to this industry. Stay out imho.

With that said, "to each his own."
The Nike One was in GT4, but not 5, 6, or Sport.. so we may never see a Jordan Car.. given how the Spa owners are trying to milk Sony/PD it's not hard to imagine Nike- especially -trying to do the same.

It's a shame because the remaining cars look properly interesting. it's always interesting to see each manufacturer's design philosophies on their take on what an ultimate car representing their brand is.

This. What VGT meant to me was/ is seeing each vehicle manufacturers design philisophy. The direction each is taking stylistically, functionally, and economically.

I guess we'll all have to wait and see. :/

Well, not really. Porsche design the shoes while other established companies manufacture them!

Anyway, personally I hope VGT is done with. Gr3 and 1 are already ruined enough with the inclusion of these ridiculous looking things. They had their place in numeric GT titles but not in Sport. Gr1 is a complete mess and Gr3 is getting further and further away from the real world GT3 it echoes.

Anybody that falls for the smoke and mirrors of fashion, provides fuel for this situation - price is more a reflection of how hard a brand is marketing you a product, rather than how much they spend on producing it. In my experience the slavery aspect is getting better, the voluntary ethical standards being set are raising, and more companies are following them, but they are still voluntary in many cases. Having dealt with this on the non-fashion manufacturing to retail side of our business I think a good way to approach it, is that the standards required by law in the sales territory should be applied by the company to the manufacturing territory. I know this happens in some industries - don't know if it's common in fashion (I suspect it isn't).

The value of a historic motor racing circuit to a community of racing and car enthusiasts is probably significantly higher than that of having brand of trainer represented in the game.. and therefore the degree to which PD good be milked would be significantly different... if anything, Nike should be seeing this as a marketing opportunity they pay PD for. Spa can't monetise their presence in the game via it's core business the same way Nike can. Nike can hope to sell a pair of trainers to every GT player, realistically, how many gate receipts and ticket bookings are Spa going to get due to being featured in GTSport?

I agree with you though, I am a big supporter of the VGT project, as it represents an interesting area of car culture, but I'm totally indifferent to a trainer manufacturer being involved, it's kinda pointless... and the costs involved will be added to the cost of the a pair of trainers someone will be buying to try and demonstrate they are a cool person.

I think they missed the boat as it's supposed to be GT 15th Anniversary celebration, but they keep dragging it on and on until now it loses relevance.

It’s supposed to be the manufacturers’ vision of an ultimate GT car. It started as a 15th anniversary celebration, but that’s not the purpose of the project.

On a side note, I still don't fully understand the disdain some people feel towards the VGTs. I especially don't see how they take away from the modelling of other cars. Who's to say said cars aren't already in the course if being modelled? And considering VGTs aren't scanned or as complex (from a design standpoint), I'm not sure how they take away from anything.

I can only speak personally. But when GT Sport was launched, it came with dang near 30 VGT cars. 30, out of only 162 total is a huge number — over 20%!

Most of these being Gr.X cars that served no purpose other than themselves, it was definitely a burn, that just further fueled my dislike for the weird, futuristic art-house cars that I never paid much attention to in the first place.

Since we are getting remastered GT6 cars anyway... Why not trickle in the VGT’s inside of updates? I don’t understand the design decision to give them all up at launch, it made GT Sport seem like a VGT promotional vehicle.

Today I got a convertible Golf VGT as my daily reward and noticed it was Gr 3! While I’m at it I wish we could get rid of all the make believe/concept cars like the Beetle, Renault RCZ and Dreaded GT by Citroën. I want real world racing cars only.

Here are my thoughts on everyone's posts ITT:

-The VGTs being included in Gr.1 & Gr.3 make races more interested to watch and participate in, beyond them being just replicas of real-world LMP1 and FIA GT3. I'd also say they add character to GT's car lineup, in a way that no other racing game can really do.

-On top of that, they're the only way some automakers can even be within Gr.1, such as Alpine, or Bugatti.

-Furthermore, I do not think they should be removed from their respective groups unless they were somehow over-used and beyond balancing. Instead, I think we should see "sub-rules," wherein you have an event, limited to a certain group of cars, with BoP on and settings disabled as usual, but with the additional potential restriction of only allowing certain cars on top of this. So you could have a Gr.1 event where you could either be able to pick any car within the group, or you could be limited to the LMP1 cars, or the Gr.1-spec VGTs, or the Group C racers.

-I could see some of these being really fun for one-make events, especially those that seem a bit more modest in power, like the Honda and Daihatsu VGTs.

-Finally, I unironically want the Nike One 2022 back, if only because it's like a predecessor to VGT, alongside the GT by Citroen. (It's a car that I'd say is a part of GT history, alongside cars we've yet to see debut in the series, like the GT Academy 370Z that competitors would use.) I also am still extraordinarily curious about that "Inspire Gran Turismo" nameplate we've seen on the Vazirani Shul. Maybe it's for cars wherein PD had a lot of consulting?

On the subject of VGT in Gr classes, I always find it odd that the Alpine which has a base power of around 500 HP is uprated to Gr.1, while the Peugeot which has around 800 HP is downgraded to Gr.3 (even counting the fact that we already have the L750R in Gr.1).

Then there's some VGTs that don't get any love at all despite being a great fit for Gr.3 (Merc, BMW, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Lexus). Again, I know they each already have real Gr.3 cars but it would be nice for variation. I mean VW has 2 fictional Gr.3 cars for crying out loud (and on that note, it's also odd that they went with the open top Golf instead of the Supersport).

The Mini VGT could be a nice addition to Gr.4 also.

I hope it isn’t done, the street cars are fun to cruise with in cop lobbies where people obey street limits, makes you feel different, and let’s you appreciate the cars more.

And no, VGT’s aren’t a waste of resources. Car companies do these kind of concepts all the time, it’s just a brand study. Companies have advanced studios who’s only job is to create concept cars to show the company where they see the brand going in the next twenty years or so. This time it just happens to go in a game, which is good marketing.

No. Kaz said as part of an interview with GTP a little over a week ago that more VGT cars are on the way. There is an article on the home page somewhere with this.

I'm looking forward to seeing them as I love the VGT programme.
