You are correct. I just called again and it will be in their store on the 23rd. Guess I will change my calender again and my sig.

thats from the press release on the sony site.

the game will be released on the 22 of february, as in "released for sale".
I'm pretty sure Sony isn't willing to pay to ship every copy of GT4 for overnight delivery. :sly:

I think some stores are just padding the date to keep them from having to scramble on the 22nd to get the games on the shelf. :grumpy:
 
well, i just called my local game store, and they confirmed me they will have it on the shelves on february 22nd, they are supposed to receive it a few days before . Hope this clears up a few things

I was a manager at Blockbuster for 5 years and I can tell you that we almost always received our new games the Friday before the release date (which is always Tuesday). The street date is not the date on which the manufacturer ships the games, it is the date that retailers are allowed to start selling the games. In fact, most distributors have 800 numbers to call if you catch a retailer selling merch before the street date (Wal-Mart is notorious for this).

Exactly. For some reason, certain stores don't get them on release day, or they get them so late in the day that they simply wait until the following day to put them on the shelf. Which is rediculous. I'm in that boat myself, my local GameStop nearly always gets their games one day late, and then spout off that "ship date" nonsense. My guess is that the game is sent via normal carrier from the warehouse to a central shipping location for these large companies (like GameStop and EB), and then they're shipped again to the individual stores. This would easily add several days to shipping time, bumping the date the individual stores get it from from Friday to Tuesday.

I'm still holding out a modicum of hope that GameStop here will have them for sale on the day (at least for pre-orders), but I'm not expecting it.
 
Interesting Jedi, I just paid off GT4 today at my local gamestop. They are staying open an extra hour or two for GT4. The manager told me they wont come in 'til really late in the day Tuesday (2/22). He said possbily as late as 9PM.
 
I just called my gamestop - they said they weren't sure if they would get them on the 22nd or the 23rd. There's a best buy 25 yards away, so if they don't have it I will walk over to Best buy and see if they do. I am kinda screwed if they don't get it in until late afternoon on the 22nd, since I have class from 4:30 to 9:20 on tuesdays.

Hello, I just have a quick question concerning the US release (Woo-hoo! It's almost here!). Will the Japenese (NTSC/J) GT4 Prolouge saves redeem me from US (NTSC) GT4 licenses, or will I still have to do them? I searched and found nothing. Thank you!

Hey don't go making general assumptions here, I didn't vote for bush personally (I'm not old enough). Nonetheless thats a little rediculous, I hope everyone gets the best version possible, and no one is bitter about it (granted I'll be ticked if the US version doesnt have some perks over the original one released on Dec. 28). When you get as low as slamming someone for their particular country's president on a Gran Turismo forum, well first off all its a little off target, and two its not necesarry to go wishing each other to be worse off. All said, I hope everyone is treated equally here.

But the reason i first posted on this thread was: Why do i have to pay 67 euro's for the game when it doesn't even come in Dutch! It will be cheaper when i order it from England

Since I'm at school, I'm in a different state from where I placed my pre-order... I didn't pay for it just reserved it. My question is, should I order the game online with free shipping or just have my brother overnight the game to me after he pics it up from the local gamestop? :dunce: Which one would be faster because I want the game ASAP. :dopey:
