Game Stop said the ship date is Feb. 22, and they wont have it for sale unitl the 23.
 
wow, so circuit city with it's febuary 24th ship date has been correct for quite a while now, too bad i can't preorder with all my christmas gift cards (ahh do not give gift cards, cash is much better) Can't wait

How/when will we find out if we get special NA cars as well as the 2p garage battle? Also will it have the 240-256 upgrade like the PAL version is getting over the japanese version?

Actually, PSM magazine deserves the respect. They had Feb. 22 for over a month now.

"My nephew is a manager at a local EB and called to tell me that they recieved an overnight package from Sony today that included a sealed copy of the North American version of GT4 along with a ton of litterature and posters to put up in the store. He said that all the stuff they sent him to put up in the store says "great things come to those who wait" and "in stores 2/22/05". He said that he will be taking the GT4 copy home tonight to play it before putting it in the store's demo PS2 tomorrow. It would appear that 2/22 is THE date, finally."

Great news. Seems my speculation for this date was correct!
 
Games are shipped on the thursday before their tuesday release. This allows one day for them to get there (they are usually shipped one day airmail) and then the entire weekend for the stores to print their individual price labels, and enter them into their inventory systems. Then on monday night just before they lock up, they place them on the shelves.

The reason it's tuesday every week is so that
One. No one has to remember which movies or games get released on which day and wind up putting the wrong one out by accident, so EVERYTHING gets released in the states on the same day......tuesday.
Two. Why tuesday? When a national holiday is on a weekend, it is OBSERVED on the friday before if it's a Saturday holiday or on the monday after if it's a sunday holiday. So by shipping on thursday, it gives the weekend to label and get them into inventory and yet also allows for no confusion due to holiday.

My sources are...............me. I've ran a video store for five years now and before that I worked for Ingram (like renttrak). Ingram is a movie distrubutor that organizes the delivery and sale of movies.


Anyone who tells you their store got it before the thursday or friday before release is lying or they got their games illegally and you should ignore them. Trust me, you don't want to be in association with someone like that when Ingram or RentTrak comes afterthem...................

I didnt read all of the post, but the European GT4 will be getting 10 more cars.

it's not some sort of special delivery or anything. It's shipped using UPS. It must be signed for just like normal UPS one day air mail. The number of games per box is the number of games the store ordered. Sometimes there aren't enough to meet the demand and stores only get a certain amount so that all stores at least get some.

The boxes come with a large neon yellow, orange, or green sticker on it warning about not to display the game before the release date or legal action will follow.
Everyone seems to have it in their head that these game deliverys are like some sort of sercret agent delivery drops or something. lmao. Just standard one day air shipping using a postal service carrier like any other business.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm not getting the game if I can't use garage cars in 2 player mode or LAN mode (I'm really looking forward to online racing via X-Link).

Yeah I have been waiting just as long as all of you and have decided not to buy. I won't support thier non-online having ways. When the online version comes out, I will buy then. I'm not succombing to some hoax-filled marketing scheme.
 
I had one pre-order for almost 2 years now. And I'm sure some have had longer.

But I am glad.

Most of the time yes, Halo they planned for but sometimes no. Remember when the PS2 came out. In the States allot of places didn't even have enough to cover pre-orders. Stores here were only getting 100-200 at a time.

An ex-employee sold his on Ebay for $450.00 that first week.

I always find comments like that rather funny.. hehe. GT4 already has more American cars than other racing games have cars period. And yet they're still not satisfied.
 
Hey, the Tiburon (spelling?) is actually a compitent little V6 car from what I'm told. That being said...no, I don't own one. :)

And we hate ya for it! LOL just kidding. With the value of pretty much anything vs the US dollar right now you guys are doin more than great. Hell, come buy California for the low low price of 40 Euros!

Can't wait for the North America release. Can't think about release date... just let it happen. :)
