Some of the car choices has me wondering on the selection criteria and decision process. Many, in their day, were cars of need for economical or financial reasons and where never a car enthusiasts first (or last) choice. Many were also very poorly constructed with terrible repair records - the 80's cars especially. I guess driving a "virtual" recreation shields the owner from the reality of what some of those cars were really like. It would be funny if our virtual cars exhibited traits (rattles/noisy, rough ride, etc.) or broke down like their IRL counterparts :ouch:

I watch a fair amount of Barret Jackson and Mechum car auctions and many of the cars in Forza, and GT, would never be seen at these auctions. The auctions are a good yardstick of what is desirable to the "majority" of car collectors. Every once in while some off-beat car will show up that may get one or two showing interest though the final sale price is usually indicative of the desirability.

I guess T10 and PD understand their fan base more than I ever will. They are willing to model some cars for a niche group of driving/racing gamers. With that said, I paid for Season Pass and don't have a problem with the inclusion of some strange choices. I just will never understand... :boggled:

if stock also means period tires then there's absolutely no chance.

Granted, I'll give you that one.

we can all find out when the DLC lands though, in Forzaland at least.

And I can't wait.

Off topic, you've aroused my curiosity. My Dad was assigned there in the 80's, too! I'd ask if you knew him, but that's a conversation reserved for PM's or IM's.

Feel free to send me a PM.

Taking a junker and making it a fast car is definitely fun, you get all sorts of different handling behavior with different level of mods. I am most excited with the Impala weirdly, it would be hilarious to throw around the track.

That's that thing... say you just won a contest and your choice of prizes is between a Hemi Cuda, BMW M3, GT500 Mustang, Nissan GT-R, Z06 Corvette, and an Impala. How many would choose the Impala? But in a game it "seems' that many are attracted to an Impala or Pinto or Dodge Omni. That's what surprises me. Don't get me wrong, not saying my thinking is correct, it's just my logic of what I consider desirable - cars that I may have aspired to own.

All I can think of is that some of these less desirable IRL cars are desirable in a virtual world as they don't inherit most of the deficiencies of their IRL counterparts. I guess it may also be the little guy against Goliath concept where IRL constraints don't exist and they can be made competitive in a virtual driving/racing world.

It just is a phenomena that always made me wonder. If the wide and sometimes unique car selection improves game sales, then it's a good thing.

Here is my favorite car from this pack.

Planning on doing my own paint for it tomorrow as the one on it in the pic isn't very good looking.

Edit:

Honda-Lola

Edit 2:

Fully upgraded Ford Pinto with everything except 4WD conversion(Has a V8 swap from the '00 Mustang), 795HP.:nervous:

I'll post some pics later on. Just trying to kill off some time before January 1st comes around here.

Also, awesome shots of the Lambo and Honda, Justin. :D Just make sure Rossi or Muller don't rear end that Pinto, eh? ;)

LMAO at the 795 HP Pinto.

@FUZZY- I know what you mean and I'm the same way. I believe (the way I am) that it is more fun to take an non super car and build it to what you wish you could. I love the over the top cars (I've been a huge Viper fan since I was little), but I love to take a civic and fully build it and smoke the tires as I'm passing a lambo.

As said above, I too am looking forward to the impala. I'm prob just going to slam it with big wheels and intake and exhaust and just goof around on the top gear track. The main reason why I'm not far in this game, I just take a car and goof around on the top gear track lol

LMAO at the 795 HP Pinto.

The wheels were still spinning at 150mph.

The LS9 is also an option for the Impala, unfortunately the Omni only has a sensible V6 swap(was hoping for a V8 Hemi swap:(). Haven't checked any of the other cars.

I wounder if they'll implement the Pinto blowing up if you hit a wall too fast. In all seriousness this is a great DLC pack as the others. I'm just hoping that they put the Yellowbird in sooner or later and I'll be a happy camper.👍

You have to consider the actual circumstances here. Say one of the driver level rewards in Forza offered you the Hemi Cuda, BMW M3, GT500 Mustang, Nissan GT-R, Z06 Corvette, and an Impala. The chances that someone will choose the Impala -- either because they own an Impala (of any model year), or because they like V8 american sedans -- is suddenly much, much greater than in your example.

Not only can you easily afford to own all of the cars (given enough time), but the decision is based on the question of "what best represents my personality and interests?" rather than "what would be the most rewarding?" After all, we're talking about a game that lets you match any paint color, add visual modifications, and change the rims on any car. You can even swap drivetrains or engines to whatever you prefer most. The game is all about you, and how you want to represent yourself online. If you like old cars, you'll drive those. If you like new cars you'll drive those. 4-cylinder cars, V8 cars, every trait you can identify, there are people who will stick to what they prefer, no matter how "sub-optimal" the choice may be. The extensive modifications available mostly level the playing field anyway.

Furthermore, I don't think your example is as far-fetched as you think. The Impala may not have a particularly illustrious nameplate, and it's a big sedan from the '90s, but it's still a pretty quick V8-powered sedan. It has plenty of fans. Personally, if I won a contest and was offered a Hemi Cuda, GT500 Mustang, Nissan GT-R, Z06 Corvette, or BMW M5 (E39), I would pick the M5. The other cars are faster and sportier for sure, but none of them appeal to me, for various reasons. The M5 isn't a bad car at all (the Impala isn't either), and it matches my interests best. So I would choose the big V8-powered sedan from the '90s. Without any hesitation.

Interesting, If we were talking IRL, Id personally take the GTR, sell it, buy a house AND a cheap 90s v8 sedan if thats what blows your sail.

That's not reasonable at all. It also doesn't seem reasonable at all to pick an Impala unless you don't want to pay all off the tax and insurance that comes with getting an expensive car as stated above. And anyways, who can afford a house AND a car after paying the tax on a "free" GTR and then turning around and selling it. Sorry to interject but your statement seems a little immature and not well thought out.

The only immature person here seems to be you. I dont get why you have to put him down like that.

I came to read this thread thinking it would be about the car pack. Whats going on here haha.

here in australia, the value of a GTR and the value of a cheap house are not too dissimilar.

How Mich are GTRs? Are they even 100K?

In Austalia, One should not expect change from 200k if buying new. 150ish second hand for an Aus delivered one. or around 110-120 for a second hand Japanese import (that Australian Nissan dealerships wont touch to repair or service)

Keep in mind that for most of the last 12 months the Australian dollar has been at or above parity with the US dollar, it makes the GTR a considerably expensive car, and in the right area, one can pick up a 1 or 2 bedroom house for under 200k....so.....yeah....

(Fixed - Scaff)

I apologise for the lack of capitals scaff. Can you please highlight the racial slur though as I cant find it?

Same with Shelby.

Shelby has always been listed as a separate manufacturer as the Cobra is manufactured by them. Abarth is also treated as a separate brand from FIAT and the cars are branded as Abarth's.

It's not like GT where every tuner is treated as a brand.

The 131 Abarth is also a Fiat, but it's incorrectly listed under Abarth.
Except that it is correctly listed as an Abarth, as it is an Abarth, not a Fiat. Abarth is just another manufacturer owned by Fiat and produced and still produces its own cars, the 131 being one of them.

It's basically as much of a Fiat as the Audi A3 is a VW.

Abarth as a brand did not exist from 1971 to 2007. Fiat used the Abarth name as trim level in between those years. For example: the Fiat 131 Abarth, and the Autobianchi A112 Abarth. The 131 Abarth is a Fiat, not an Abarth. Does that make sense? :boggled:
