I think the main obstacle is the race tyre management. If he quickly picks that up on the Pirellis in F2 he should be good. It's only testing but he does look a little quicker than Miyata. I'd be very surprised if he didn't get his super license after this season.
There's not a lot we can learn from his first race, new cars to him, new tyres, track he's never raced at before, there's no other result people could possibly have expected.Really bad show by Herta in the F2 Sprint race. He just fell back throughout the entire race, while his teammate moved forward
Maybe the told him just to keep it on track and get experience. Who knows

Such a shame, really feel for him, I imagine this is his vertigo that's curtailed this for him.![]()
Health problems suspend Rovanpera's F1 chase for now
Two-time World Rally champion Kalle Rovanpera has had to call off his Super Formula debut - and thus suspend his quest to reach Formula 1 - due to health problemswww.the-race.com
The single seater path to F1 seems dead. If he is staying in circuit racing it looks like GT/endurance may be the way now. I’d love to see him in Supercars or touring but I don’t think the money is there.
Ugochukwu bombed in F3 pretty hard last year, he finished 16th in points, where Herta is in F2 right now. Changed to a better team this year, now might win the championship and everybody is on board again. The quality of the team seems to make a big difference even in these 'spec' junior series.Cadillac should start backing Ugochukwu before Red Bull gets him. Herta does not seem like a good long term prospect.
Yeah I'd like to see Herta get another shot at a better team as well, he's clearly got ability. Let's also not forget that he has never driven most of these circuits, outside of a handful such as Silverstone, Spa and Catalunya, and the newer F2 cars are notoriously difficult to just jump in and be fast straight away.Ugochukwu bombed in F3 pretty hard last year, he finished 16th in points, where Herta is in F2 right now. Herta is having a bad season, but his much more experienced teammate Miyata has only 8 more points then him. Hitech is just terrible this year, and is getting even worse as the season progresses. Herta and Miyata have only managed to finish in the top 10 in a race just 5 times each.
Herta was 1 second off his teammate in the last F1 FP1. Not good at all, that should be like half a second at most. But I don't know what strategy they had Herta on. But I think this is a better barometer then what's happening in F2. And if he's being given the same tires/fuel etc as the Cadillac drivers and he's finishing 1 second slower, that's the best indication he's not good enough for F1. But they might have him on a very conservative program just to rack up miles and get super license points. I believe I read somewhere that's what happened in Hungary
I hope Herta stays in F2 for another year and moves to a different, better team. I mean, Logan Logan Sargeant did better in F2 then Herta, and there's no way you can tell me he's a better driver then Herta. I'll admit there is the possibility Herta drove Indycars for pretty much his entire adult life and is struggling to adapt to something else. I just don't think he's being given a good chance to show what he can do at Hitech
