Hey! I'm 13 and saturday is my B-Day and I have this problem alot. Everyone is like 80 years old and I smoke them then they realize I'm only 13 and they kick me saying, "No kids alowed!" or something like that.
Well i find it hard to believe that you are "smoking"every driver you come across in a racing lobby as every skill set is different. However you may have to be discreet about your age if you and maybe some of your friends are having trouble staying in racing lobbies. Oh yeah Happy Birthday :)

One Night I was in a lobby with a kid couldnt have been more than 14 yrs old and the lil bro had skills to pay many a bill. We were at Daytona and he drafted, bumped and gave room to all drivers on track that he passed.

I was impressed and so were many others. Instead of kicking him from lobby we added him to friends list.
Sure younger players may lack a little polish and can be down right irritating when u give them little rules to follow(Stay in PITS) no X1 no Veyron etc, however I race in many lobbies were a mic is not required, and shouldnt be the reason a good driver is dismissed from a lobby. Especially if that rule is not stated in lobby comments.

I've had very few races with kids, if any, that actually raced a good race. One of my biggest grips with a kid(s) in a room is that if they have a mic they don't keep quiet. I don't need to hear how fast you're going or being asked how fast I'm going every lap. Also, I don't want to be asked to turn off the tire wear or to turn down the laps because your car can't go that far.

I've had kids tell me that they are really good driver/racers. I might let them run a short race just to find out that they can't hold their line or are being way too aggressive and impatient.

I'd just wish that we were able to put age restrictions on an open lobby to filter out the children.

I have never been asked my age online although I don't really play online much. Like people have mentioned, if you are getting kicked due to age by some people then it should not really bother you as they wouldn't have been worth racing anyway ;). Might be a good idea to get a friends list full of clean online racers so you can join their lounge if you want hassle free racing.

There are some older people that will beat the majority on here driving clean just like there are teenagers who will also be able to do the same. I think people should refrain kicking people unless someone gets irritating irrespective of age. Having said that, with the way messages are censored in GT5, people might think you are swearing at them so that might get you kicked :sly:.

Online gaming will always be prone to discrimination unless it is governed strictly which is unlikely to happen, best thing is to move along to a place you are welcome ;).

I never ask for ages. If I find out that someone that I've been racing with is a kid and has been racing cleanly and not a problem then I won't bother him, he can stay and race.

Sry for the OP, but in general kids behave like spoiled kids on online game, so I dont mind kicking them.

However if you dont scream on your mic and race clean then you can come play with me whenever you want, you could be a woman, a kid, a 80 year old or a monkey I couldnt care less ^^

Most of the time those people just search for an excuse to kick whoever beats them in a race.

Ah well, just set up your own rooms. Plenty of friendly racers on this board so you can't go wrong with that i guess.

Because people generally tend to stereotype if they experience one bad person.

I hate MW3 (love BF3) thanks for the tips guys! I love NASCAR's but the tire wear at Daytona is BS

1: win a race in lobby full of older drivers
2: tell them you're 13-16
3: ????
4: proft

honestly never experienced any trouble related to my age, and i have never been asked except for by people who had been on my friends list for quite some time. i do drive with aids, although i can do just fine without them in the lower powered cars(but i need mah driving line) and i seriously think younger GT5'ers get kicked because everyone thinks they are the stereotypical kid who has an annoying voice, shouts into the mic, drives backwards in his 290mph bulldozer, and generally acts like an @sswipe. but i would like to report that "mature" GT5'ers can be even worse.

I'n thirteen and I'm an experienced driver. The REAL immatures are those with mics and ignorant drivers. I'm driving on the track (with headset) and all of a sudden some filthy rap music starts blaring in my ear and some d-bag swearing his arse off for no exact reason. Another time there was this 12 year old with a mic and an X1 that he obtained through the Vettel win event...thing. He is driving the wrong way on Tsukuba and hitting racers off the track. the lobby host gives a stern warning but the 12 year old says, and i'm not ad-libbing, "I don't care. You can't tell me what to do." He eventually got kicked. The point is, immature brats and ignorant headset users don't deserve a place in the sweet haven that is Gran Turismo Online.

Exactly, thanks bro

I'm 15 and I usually race clean. I only hit someone when this someone hits me. But if I see I did something wrong, I instantly say sorry to whoever I hit.
I only got kicked once for my age because the guy was 25+ and couldn't maintain the same pace as the rest. Everyone was 14 to 16 years old and the host was 25+, so when he saw he couldn't keep up, he kicked everyone
If you guys want someone that races clean, you guys can add me.

No offense, but a lot of you guys sound pretty conceited.

What I find annoying with these 13 year olds is that the majority of them think they are better than everyone else because "i got dat X1 n u dont". Then they go about crashing into the back of you whilst screaming in their mics "HAHA LUUZER!!! U SUCK!!!1".

Problem: Squeaky 13 year old
Solution: Kick/Mute

Problem: Annoying 13 year old
Solution: Kick

Hey guys, I really want to know what you guys think. I'm 13 and LOVE GT5 and play it daily. I have 310 cars, level 37 a-spec, and level 40 b-spec. I'm getting annoyed when I go into rooms because I get kicked sometimes because of my age. Sometimes people ask everyones age and why lie? I say my real age then everyone complains and i get kicked. I'm a very good driver, I race clean, fair, and I NEVER use assist.... So what do you guys think of kids and younger teens playing? P.S. I'm willing to race you if you dont believe all that stuff! :) PSN: rap129

I think this game was made for kids your age, while still appealing to the older set, so you have a right to enjoy it without harrassment.
I also think this forum is perfect for your age group and you're probably the average age here.

The older you get, the more biased and jaded you get. They don't call them grumpy old men for no reason. I can't say I'm not an offender, but I usually at least give people the chance to prove my preconceived notions wrong :P

No, but seriously, as long as you're respectful and you play fair, you shouldn't have to lie. It takes more courage to try to break a stereotype than to stand idly by.

Damn, lots of kids here. Makes sense, it is a video game after all.

i have no problems with kids online though. I use some mosquito repellant to keep them from entering my room.

Mosquito repellant: turn all aids off, no 4wd, and tyres limited to SH. Keeps all the kids and bad drivers away. Racing heaven my room is.

Makes me feel old! Am I too old to play GT5 - I'm 37 this year, who is the oldest racer on here? Just curious, no need to reveal your age if you don't want to.

I think I'm lucky when it comes to Xbox, my gamertag on there is Shelby 427 1965. And most people think I'm 46 because of it xD A far cry from 14 I'd like to think :sly:

But on topic, I've never had this problem on GT5. I do get the odd banter because of it, but I've never been kicked for it. Could be something to do with the fact I don't drive what most people my age WOULD drive. xD

I'm 36 but I doubt you are the oldest Toyinster. There are a few people on these boards that are in their 50's.

As for the kids thing, I really don't think it matters to much. It depends more on the person than their actual age. My nephew is a good example. He is 14 and when he started playing GT5 his idea was to ram everything in sight. Now though, he is becoming a good little racer who hates it when when he hits someone or if he gets hit.

He still can't beat me though. He now just needs the experience of where is best to overtake and how to cover his racing lines better. He tries but he only really thinks a corner at a time.

Everyone has the right to enjoy GT5 online but the thing with young kids is they dont know when they are being annoying. I find anyone under 18 annoying at times although it can be entertaining to hear them talk total rubbish to each other :D

personally don't care about age and never ask when i set up lobbies. I will kick anyone for being abusive or ramming into other cars ( unless it's accidental and followed by an apology - we are only human afterall), usually give a warning prior, but this usually has no effect.

when i set up lobbies, i always set race for real, no aids (except abs), real grip etc... that seems to dissuade any annoying drivers. usually this is enough to get good races, as i suspect that the more "annoying" drivers won't join these types of lobbies

PS i also mute players that are a bit too talkative, when i race i am not up for chit chat, unless it's between races
