Well, we know theres more dlc coming before December and the Aventador seems a good bet, although cars that Forza has that would interest me more, are the rs500 sierra & e28 M5. but thats just me :)

btw, i think the nsx is the best drivers car ever built ;)

With all of this discussion about favourite cars, it's obvious to point out that it's down to preference. Cars are like art, purely subjective. Some people like functional cars while some think they are boring. Some like nimble cars while some think they are puny. Some like simpler cars while some think they achieve nothing. Then there is the whole discussion about driving position, drivetrain, aesthetics, etc.
I just like a car to be impressive. To achieve things that people would doubt possible. The NSX that famously beat Ferrari. The F40 that gave such a thrilling driving experience even when people were so negative towards forced air induction. The McLaren F1 for showing no compromise in design, winning a crushing le mans victory, and shaming even modern cars with higher specs while using no electrical aids.
Often people base their opinion of cars purely on the aesthetics. While there is nothing wrong with this, I would encourage people look deeper, see what a car achieves, and the design itself.

Lecture over. :) I think there are enough modern super cars in GT5. They are all getting very similar, and lack a particular character, unlike other cars usually older.

Did anyone else notice the video was a mirror image. Looked that he was going backwards on tgtt but he anit just mirrored weird.

Lexus LFA lacks character? Nissan GTR lacks character? Ferrari 458 lacks character?

All three are very distinctly different, yet all three are very interesting angles on the notion of the "supercar".

The NSX-R was neither "painfully" beautiful nor did it change the whole supercar genre. It could be argued that the original NSX DID force Ferrari to improve their build quality and driveability, but it certainly wasn't a game-changer. The other two were stand-outs in their day(s), but come on, the supercar game has moved on 17 years since the McLaren F1.

The f1 is a car that is still superior to most if not all supercars. Even though the game has moved on since then, the McLaren was far ahead of it's time... In fact, it is ahead of our time! The car is amazing to look at, while being aerodynamically competitive to modern cars. It's biggest feat is it's light weight! Most modern cars are tanks compared to the McLaren. It pioneered the use of carbon fiber.
It's not just the best of it's time, it's ahead of today!

The F1 was carefully designed so it didn't carry the style of other cars from the 90's. That's the reason why it does not look dated.

Probably has something to do with the fact that GT5 came out almost a year before the new Lambo design was even publicly shown. Just a guess though................

Man your Demon avatar freaks me out dude.

Oh and for the lulz:

Allow me to disagree here! The achievements older supercars have managed are very impressive indeed , but of course that doesn't means that today's supercars don't manage to make their own impressive achievements.

First of all ,on topic, the Aventador has already managed ,to beat cars like Bugatti Veyron Supersport, Gumpert Apollo S, Ascari A10, Koenigsegg CCX and Nissan GTR on the Top Gear Test track . that alone is impressive, it shows that the Aventador, on it's first steps has already achieved something, and it has already proved it's value as a car.

For one example, what Ultima GTR has achieved is not impressive? A car built by a small company and costs only around 120.000 dollars managed to do better times on the Top Gear Test track than cars like Gumpert Apollo S, Bugatti veyron ( and Veyron Supersport), Ariel Atom V8, Mclaren MP4-12C, CCX, MC12, Enzo and many other cars. A tuned version of it managed to beat even the Ferrari FXX on that track!!

Second example the Gumpert Apollo Sport. That car has managed to do on the Nürburgring better times than cars like the GTR, ACR, ZR1, Porshe 911 GT2, MC12 and many others! And it has been made by a small company too.

Third example the SSC Ultimate Aero. With just a v8 twin-turbo engine , it managed to beat the world record of a Quad Turbocharged monster like the Veyron (that cost more than double of the price than the SSC costs). And just with that V8 it achieved 1183 bhp horsepower as oposed to 1001 bhp the Quad Turbocharged engine of the Veyron Achieves. And SSC hasn't even the support of Volkswagen (like Bugatti has ) ( Even Mclaren who had that record at the 90s had the support of BMW).

What I'm trying to say? What older supercars have managed, is of course impressive, but also is what many of today's supercars manage to achieve! Also many of them , come from small companies with small budgets , unlike large companies like Ferrari, Porsche, Honda, Nissan, something that makes their achievements even more impressive!

And of course they are not some "generic" "space-age" cars without a character.

Actually, it's not a vent but rather and intake. But "Anintakador" doesn't seem to sound as nice. ;)

It weighs the same amount as a BMW 3 series...

How is that a 'tank'?

1550 KG is heavy for a ''sport'' tank... car.

Makes you wonder what the new McLaren hypercar will be like when that thing is still astonishing by todays standards 17 years later. When they say they want it to eclipse everything else including the Veyron and the upcoming Porsche 918 it's hard to disbelieve they will manage it

Let's hope that it is not built heavy like the aventadorderp. McLaren are relying more and more on electronic aids. I does not like dem electric things.

So, every modern sportscar is a tank, then. The LF-A, 599 GTO, One-77, 918 Spyder, etc....

Yes.

However the Corvette Z06, Porsche 911 GT3, F430, all weigh far less than that. I would consider those real sports cars, much more so than the Lambo, 599 or Aston Martin.

I don't know much about the new 918.

While this is very true you must understand that most cars are restricted in design now because of laws in place that were not there 20 years ago. The weight in most of these new cars comes from safety features required by most governments.

GT5 was released before the Adventador. we'll get it via DLC hopefully

We must got to have a little faith in Kazunori and the PD team. After a successful 1st endeavour with DLC, I believe they can bring us more content and new models like the Aventador if his team can get around the licensing issues for newer models.

I'd love to reach 216mph (348km/h - check the speedo) with this beautiful beast in GT5 and not only in Forza...

The only thing I can think of is airbags. Structurally, the f1 is stronger and safer than most cars. The mp4-12c is made for a broader, poorer, less extreme audience... So, it has more electronic aids, only 2 seats, and less extreme in performance. The mp4 still follows British sports car ideology in light weight design.

But that doesn't explain the Lotus Elise and Exige: feather-light but still meeting safety standards. It's not like the US has mandated that cars be bunkers made out of depleted uranium. If Lotus can build a light car, surely Lamborghini, etc. can do so as well.

Am I missing something? The Lamborghini is much much larger in size than an elise or exige, also neither of those cars are sporting a big 'ol v12 either and all the baggage that goes with it. How can you compare those two cars? Sure there are safety requirements but there are a lot of other factors as to why they are lighter cars.

To me it's just another 4wd Audi.

TankAss, why are you so anti supercar? It's incredibly quick, beautiful, and sounds nice. What's the problem?

Well, I'm not comparing the two. I just don't buy the argument that car makers are somehow constrained into building 3800 lb. cars because that's the only way to comply with safety standards. Could Lamborghini (or Ferrari...) build a sub-2800 lb. car that's cat-quick and also meets safety requirements? Sure. I just don't think they want to. All other things being equal, a lighter car will do virtually everything better than a heavier one, but horsepower creates bragging rights in a way low weight does not. It seems the path of least resistance is just adding tons of HP and then figuring out a way to make it handle. The Veyron is the epitome of this... except it doesn't handle well at all.

Sounds like ***. Although i prefer old muscle to modern supercars anyways so...
