I think some of you missunderstood tankass95.

I think he just wanted to say that cars like the 458 or Aventador, which are without doubt magnificent in everyway, aren´t true sports cars like a Mclaren F1 (or Enzo) which were only designed to be as fast as possible and still road legal.
Yes, the Aventador rocks and I know that it did the TGTT under 1:17...

I just wonder how fast a Aventador without all these comfort stuff which adds alot of weight could go.

The Enzo Ferrari weighed much less and it was build in 2002.

True this ^^

There is a line between supercars and hypercars. 458, Gallardo, Viper are all powerful and agile cars WITH optional(and often heavy) luxuries. With the Enzo, McLaren F1 and Zondas, speed and performance comes before comfort which puts them into a league of their own.

Can't wait for the F70. I do hope it's more Enzo and still rocks a big B12. But yeah, get the Aventador in DLC asap along with a few other hopefuls. F-XX would be nice. RuF RT-12S/R

👍👍 I have the Ruf-12R 👍 and let me tell you, it is the truth in looks and performance! Aventador = SPEED! SPEED SPEED :)

We all know we didn't get it and most likely won't get it because we all know Microsoft bribes every single company so that they get exclusive content.

It's not bribery, it's business. :)

It's also not as powerful, comfortable or advanced, nor does it have an extra pair of driven wheels.

Where did I say that? o.O

I think a lot of people seem to forget, that the Nordschleife is just a technical race track.
A lap time/record says nothing about the car. Wow, the car is fast over the Nordschleife.

That's really great, BUT at the end the car can be rubish. Like the Gumpert Apollo. Still holds the Lap Record for Production Cars but it's almost undriveable for an unexperienced driver when it's driven hard.

For example: I own a Opel Astra OPC and get around the track in about High 8's and Low 9's, but the car could do a low 8 with a my best friend at the wheel, who has done a over 100 Laps over the track. (I did about 30 - 35)

The Nordschleife can be driven fast with any car as long as you
1. Know the track
2. Are a skillful driver
3. Know your capabilities.

The Porsche GT2 RS will never do a 7:20 with me at the wheel or with my dad at the wheel, because we are not capabale of doing this, we're not experienced enough.

And to stay On Topic. The Aventador will also do around 7:20 Min., but that is just a lap time that you and I probably will never achieve. And that's why I and everybody else shouldn't care about lap times on the Nordschleife.
Companies all around the world flock to Nurb to give their best sports cars and supercars the ultimate test, a lap around Nordschleife. These companies aren't going to hire just anyone to drive their cars around Nurb, but most likely people that have extensive experience with racing, with this track in particular, and with the car itself throughout all of its developmental phases.

These times that are compiled not just by magazines, car shows, and other media but by actual car companies themselves. Nissan, Honda, Chevy, Dodge, Mercedes, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Subaru... the list goes on. This is the proving grounds. It shows exactly what these cars are truly capable of... that they're not just glorified 700hp straight line machines but that there was a high degree of attention given to all aspects of its ultimate performance. Some companies design and tune their cars according to trials and errors sought out on the Nordschleife and other cars are tuned to beat a rival model's time around the track.

It's a very interesting and compelling show of strength for any company. A lot of effort, money, and time is put into cars these days just so they are ran around Nurburgring to claim a record. It's healthy for supercars to have this Nordschleife competition because it continually refines performance over and over again. I think its one of the important influences that drive companies to look at technologies gained from actual motosport racing to be used in produciton cars, which nudges automotive technology as a whole that much more further in progress. It's a completely necessary tool and I'm always excited to see car companies still shooting it out over there in Nurb.

Last I checked, that was exactly the purpose of the Aventador for Lamborghini & the 458 since it laps even faster than the Enzo at Fiorano.

The Enzo was also built with Ferrari's highest technological breakthroughs. It specifically designed to be their "road-going" Formula 1 supercar.

The Nordschleife is more of a challange for the driver as for the car.
Yes, the car sure has a lot to do with the times, but If you haven't got the right driver, the car will not be able to break the 8 Minute Barrier, which it normally could. I really do think, that the Nordschleife is good for extensive testing for the reliabilty of the components under tough condition. But still isn't a "proving ground". You see, the Nordschleife is too long with 20.832km to have a consistent driving line and constant driving flow. To really compare cars with each other, you need a shorter Track, maybe Spa.

These times that are compiled not just by magazines[...]

Most records on the Nordschleife are heldt by Horst von Saurma, Chief Editor of SportAuto Magazine. Just for a small side note

No it wasn't. That was the F50.

We must got to have a little faith in Kazunori and the PD team. After a successful 1st endeavour with DLC, I believe they can bring us more content and new models like the Aventador if his team can get around the licensing issues for newer models.

I'd love to reach 216mph (348km/h - check the speedo) with this beautiful beast in GT5 and not only in Forza...

👍:dopey:👍

I have been driving this beast for the last four days and I must say that even though I would enjoy it more if it were in GT5, I am diggin driving this thing even though I prefer the physics of GT5. GT5 is still my favorite, but as a matter of taste, tank or not, this car is the bomb.

Yes, back in 1995. The Enzo was designed the exact same way.
Ferrari
This family of extreme performance cars was joined in 2002 by the Enzo Ferrari, which was the expression of the latest Formula 1 technology and know-how.
Just 400 examples were built of the Enzo, which featured advanced composite bodywork and a carbon-fibre and aluminium honeycomb sandwich chassis and was equipped with a 5998cc 65° V12 producing 660hp. The car boasted extremely advanced aerodynamics of clear F1 inspiration, with downforce that reached a maximum of 775 kg at 300 km/h, and that then gradually decreased to 585 kg at its maximum speed of 350 km/h.

Oh cods, the engine in the F50 WAS F1 derived. The Enzo was more like a Group C racer.

Next time you want to play Mr. Smartass atleast get your facts right.

The Enzo is 1 tenth faster then the 458 on the offical time list at fiorano. It is also faster at the TGTT.

The Enzo was build in 2002. I want to know how fast a road legal car could be in 2011.

When the Mclaren F1 came, it really crushed all the competition. When the Enzo was released it was way ahead of its competitors like the Zonda C12S.

Now we have cars like the Nissan GT-R which beats both of them at the track (atleast the Enzo on TGTT) and the GT-R weights alot, this shows how far technology has moved. (To make my point clear, I just wonder how fast a 458 or Aventador could be)
