I've republished the spreadsheet. Share cars. I didn't get part lists from everyone, so I'll need to check over that.

Car is shared......no parts this wk.

I didn't run any upgrades this week, so mine is going to be the same.

REMINDER: Huyler will be hosting next week. I hope to make the race, but it all depends on how things go that day.

No upgrades for me this week, adding power just cooks my tires faster. I'm gonna keep the same setup and see what happens. My main objective is just to finish above chuyler and I think I'm fast enough to do that.

LOL, just saw this now. My only goal last night was to beat Sl3ight and hope the two of us placed low enough on the grid to allow for some extra cash to spend. Well, I accomplished goal 1, a quick review of how it went down...

Race Start: The front pack was the tightest racing I've seen all season. Garris was up front, Geezer, Bowtie, Cujo, Bowtie, Sl3ight, and me bringing up the rear. Everyone would pull away on the straights and I'd catch up on the hairpins.

A few laps in, I think Garris and Geezer had some trouble around the hotel hairpins. I squeaked by about 3 cars including sl3ight before the tunnel straight, but Sl3ight blew by me and I was relegated to the back again.

A few more laps went by with Cujo leading, bowtie behind him, sl3ight, then me. I had no trouble staying close with Cujo in the lead. Then cujo made some mistakes and everyone got by. I forget exactly what happened but I didn't stick around.

Bowtie broke away and I was chasing sl3ight. 5 more laps go by and each lap I can tell sl3ight's tires are wearing down. I get some good runs on him but I can't pull away on the straight. Finally my break comes when he taps the wall exiting casino and I use full force to pull around him on the inside. I put the hammer down through the hotel hairpins and enter the tunnel with plenty of buffer. He closes the gap before the chicane but I hammer through the next few turns with my better tires and pull away.

Lap 16 or 17 Sl3ight pits. I wait until lap 18. When I come out, sl3ight's about 2 seconds ahead. I close the gap in the corners and eventually pick up enough of his draft to get on his bumper. He pulls me around the track running 1:48s for a few laps until his tires start to give out. I start pushing hard to get around. I made a few good runs through the final turns but it didn't matter, we couldn't really run 2-wide entering the front straight and he was going to just draft pass me anyway. I think we both got damage battling that final kink. I'm pretty sure he had left side damage and I had right side damage from cutting in too close. So My only shot is casino again...but sl3ight has smartened up. He takes great care in blocking the inside line into the first hairpin at the bottom of the hill. It takes significantly more laps but on lap 32 I get along side him on the outside and make the outside line stick. We're still close entering the left-hand hairpin so I stick the inside line and leave him room. I come out a few car lengths ahead and stretch that through the next few turns and pull away. He pits almost immediately but I stay out. My plan was to run to lap 36 but I needed sl3ight's draft to stay close.

I risked it as far as lap 34 and came out a few seconds behind sl3ight again. He was very good at pulling away on fresh tires. It took several laps to catch him this time. Around lap 40 I started noticing his tire wear but I was very careful through most of the track not to get in his way. I applied pressure, but I completely intended on passing after casino again. In fact, I think I made the pass several times but he could stay close enough to draft pass me down the hill.

Lap 45, I get a moderate run with my casino pass but I didn't think it was going to stick. I stay to the left of the white line through the tunnel leaving almost no room on my left and plenty of room on my right. I figured if it came to a side-by-side brake zone I wanted to be on the inside this time. I had given him the outside previously and it didn't really work.

...then sl3ight squeezes his car to my left while I wasn't looking and comes out on my left. I hit the brakes but its too late, sl3ight comes flying through and hits the wall at the chicane. I hated to see the battle end like this but I think both sl3ight and I knew that if I got through the chicane ahead, he wouldn't be able to stay close through the next few turns. With 5 laps to go, he had to go for it.

I probably should have cut hard right when I finally saw him come up...but I was in shock that he actually fit by me. In any case, with 5 laps to go, with me on tires that were 2 laps fresher, one or two more laps I would have made the same casino move and been able to pull away further.

Anyway, it was an epic battle of drivetrain and tire wear. This track is the one reason I refused to pick a FF car. I was stuck in one on sedan night and after 5 laps my pole position turned into an 8th place finish. Sl3ight is an excellent driver and he held me off for many laps. I don't think I could have done the same in his car.

I really think that was the best battle of the season so far. Damn, that was fun.

After you got around me I misjudged the gap back to Pyxen and decided to pit since I had pretty bad damage and my tires were toast. I came out about 2 seconds behind him with 5 laps to go. I caught him up easily since I was on fresh rubber but he ended up making heavy contact with me resulting in engine damage. I honestly don't even know what happened.

The big hit at the end was me nailing the chicane fast and coming up on where you must have rubbed the wall or something and was much slower on exit... We both took major damage, but I pitted immediately, and caught you a lap or two later.

That whole race was crazy...the qualifying, the re-qualifying, then the starting grid with everyone just thrown in wherever. :P

I can't frakin wait for better (some?) Replay controls to look at that stuff instead of having to slog thru 1.25 hrs of replay to get to 5 seconds of footage.... *sigh*

I think I pitted 5 times that race due to damage or tires or both...was 6 seconds off the lead for a long time at the start, but just fell off when I had to pit :(

Weird, I wonder if he was maybe not seeing everyone; he shoved me out of the way at turn 5. I know I was slow, and it seemed intentional, but I'm guessing he couldn't see me. No damage so no big deal.

Wow, just looked at the points. I'm screwed. If Bowtie or Sl3ight win the final race it is quite possible my huge lead will disappear. I have to place 5th or better to guarantee a win...and I just don't see that happening. Last night my car was slower in a straight line than almost everyone on the track, I'm sure of it. I won't be able to squeeze by drivers with my cornering skills at le Sarthe, and I won't even be able to draft.

Bowtie and Sl3ight are the only ones that have even close to the same cash invested in their cars as me...and if I couldn't keep up with them in a straight line last night, I sure as hell won't on Tuesday. And they both are in a position to win the series.

I hate to say this, but I'll be rooting for everyone to run their best laps the entire race as to keep bowtie and sl3ight off the podium. That means you garris!!! I don't care what lap times you run...just keep your car on the track and in contention!!! I want to see another Monza!!!!

I don't know why we started the way we did. I was expecting to start in the back. I didn't really put in qualifying lap. When I created the room, I left the grid start option on the default. I didn't even look at it. I assumed it was fastest first. I hate to think it was slowest first.

But yes, the first four laps were fantastic. I'm sorry I was holding up traffic, but it was my only shot. I knew I would get passed at some point.

On lap four, Cujo got into my right side on the inside of a corner. I'll have to watch the replay. It threw me off. I also think I took damage from that.

After the hairpins, I go wide to let the car behind me by. I was already off my line and he was all over me. That went poorly, and I was hit three more times in that. I'll have to watch that.

I went to the pits at the end of that lap.

Really, the race was over for me at that point. I was so pissed off, that I wrecked myself again. At that point, it didn't matter. I could go the rest of the race without wrecking, and I'd still get no more than 5 points.

I forget how many times I wrecked myself and pitted. I actually caught up to Huyler and Sleight at one point. I was a lap down, but I was faster. I wrecked myself trying to close the gap in the bends. They would get so far away that all I could do was catch up in the straight. I had to slow down, since I didn't have enough straight track left to pass them.

I pitted, and still caught up to them. But my tires faded. I caught up to Dabneyd twice, but each time, my tires faded and I had to pit.

Monza is simple stupid compared to La Sarthe. I wrecked at Monza, and no matter how much I don't want to, I'm sure I'll wreck at La Sarthe. More than once. :(

Not sure, Snoppy and I were less than .5 seconds apart for 40+ laps at Tskuba :)

------------------------------------------------

Last night start was again COMPLETE AND UTTER BULL$#IT

I was planning on podium till I started 11th. By the time I made my way to 5th, I was 6 laps in and already 20 seconds behind. Last wed. I qualify 1st, stay on track and start last. last night I qualify 2nd stay on track, parked next to geezer and dabney and I start 11th. I'm more than happy to put another 20K into my car which has 451PP already. Cant wait for the 24HR cycle to hit nighttime. A win and interesting results and podium is possible.

I needed 6th and took it. I too qualified much faster only to have restarts in qualifying put me down further. I did bump you garris on lap 4. I took damage as well. In fact I only ran about about 10 laps without damage. Worked out fine. Got the cash I need to do well next week. My car will hit 153 no draft and no tranny work yet so I'm hoping for 160 no draft and hopefully ill find a good draft buddy....

@Cujo--160 wont do it. The talon and primera I tested before the season started hit 173 and 168 w/o transmissions. I'm thinking 161 alone, but can draft to 168. If you are close enough, I will bump draft you rather than have us mark each other out of two additional positions like last night where we could have both passed Sl3giht and Pyxen had we not run a random 2 minute + lap for no reason around lap 40. I wanted 6th if I couldnt podium and would have liked those two points.

Tsukuba was a close second in my book. That was another race where I battled hard against Sl3ight and Cujo patiently waiting for them to make a mistake or their tires to give way. Again, what saved me on that track was the sequential hairpins. They offered enough tight turning for me to make a pass, then pull away enough to prevent the draft on the straight.

I rank this battle at Monaco higher because we were literally bumper to bumper for 45 laps. I couldn't hold a candle to Sl3ight on the straights but he was just slow enough in the turns that I could get to his bumper and draft the first part of each straight before he pulled away. I must have made a pass 5-10 times during the race only to have it cancelled out by his speed. Once at casino, several times on the first hairpin, once or twice on the 2nd hairpin, and at least once on the final chicane. I tried everything to get around him but in the end I just had to wait for his tires to give out.

I'm uploading laps 40-44 so you can see the battle. I think it ended when Sl3ight tried to use my braking point out of the tunnel but he was traveling much faster and had over 50% tires gone in the front. I waited until the last second that I knew I could brake...and that was just too far for Sl3ight's car.

I think slight was good for a fresh tire lap of about 1:47. I was good for a 1:49. However my lap times would only increase by about 2-3 seconds where his would increase by 5+ seconds. I could draft to keep his 1:48 pace...and then when his tires started to go, I'd still be able to run 1:51 when he could only run 1:52-1:53.

I think if I had adjusted my brake bias for that pass I might've made it stick. I was running 3F/8R. In qualifying I would increase my front to 6 for that turn, but it was too frantic during the race and I forgot.

I was running 7/4 I think. For Suzuka I had it set to 7/3 to prevent the rear end from coming around on turn 1. For Monaco I increased the rear because I wasn't having any rotation issues.

Video of the start of the race. I wondered what happened to miata_1 at the start. Looks like he got damage on turn 1 by cutting in too tight on Dikara. As a rule of thumb, if I start on the outside on this track, I run extremely wide through turn 1 to avoid anyone that wants to slingshot past me. I know it isn't aggressive, but I'd rather survive turn 1 than risk getting hit. Anyway, miata was doing fine with the damage until he gave himself opposite damage at the chicane. After he pitted he fought back with a vengance and took no time passing Sl3ight and I later in the race.

I know the rest of the grid was a little messed up. I started in the 2nd position so I stayed far right up the hill to let the faster cars pass me. I didn't want to battle on the first lap, I just wanted to find my place. I think I fell back pretty far but once sl3ight passed me I knew I had to put the hammer down.

I tried to catch some of the other damage and lead changes in the video but it's tough to switch fast enough. Garris was doing just fine at the beginning. Sure he might have been holding cars up, but he was saving tires and running fast enough to keep drivers off his bumper.

...and the finale of the epic battle betwen Sl3ight and I.

I think I have just enough car to draft and get podium. Sleight, I say we make a plan too work together. And on the last lap we battle.

Sorry Dabney..I don't have an excuse for that one - was just a bit pushy I guess. I was only missing BTK (who I guess must have lapped me by the end since I was only 5 seconds or so ahead (1'40 down) of miata when he crossed the line.

All good, just let me know that you're going to push me aside. :sly:

The first video:

1:16 Sorry. That was just a hair too tight.

1:42 Not my normal line through that corner. I went way too wide. Was afraid I was going to bash Geezer on the next corner, but we got through cleanly.

2:00 Never noticed the reflections in the rear window. Kind of cool.

4:59 An example of why going into the chicane slow is nice. You can get out of it straighter and faster. Cujo catches me up in the bends, though.

6:04 Not a good shot of it, but this is where Cujo and I hit.

6:25 I've already run wide to let Cujo pass. I go wide here to let Geezer pass. I am hit again. Can't tell if it is Geezer, or someone pushing Geezer into me. I think I was already damaged, so it doesn't really matter. But the pack of cars trying to squeeze to pass me wasn't very... civil.

6:36 My damage is making me pull to the right. I rubbed Sleight here, sorry about that.

6:57 Again, my damage pulling me right.

I didn't watch any more of it. That is really the end of the race for me. I pit after this lap. I'm so frustrated that I quickly wreck again.

And again.

@ 6:25 I see you run wide and geezer hesitates at the opening. I'm not sure slowing down at this location is a good idea (if that is what you were doing). Geezer likely had to check up because there just wasn't enough room to squeeze inside, and it looks like he got bumped by bowtie when he didn't throttle through the turn. After that, the two of you were going so slow that the chain of cars behind you just flew past on the inside. You might not think it's civil, but when cars are pulled off the side of the road like that and you don't want to lose your draft, you don't stop to see if everyone's alright.

I really don't understand why you think your race is over after one altercation on lap 4. Miata had to pit to repair damage and he fought his way back to the front. Everyone gets damage...both Sl3ight and I drove with damage for several laps. You either deal with it or you pit for repairs...but when you've got a fast car, its easy to make back the time lost. Just run your laps as best you can.

As far as driving advice goes. You are very heavy on both the gas and brake. Watch the video again and pay attention to your gas/brake bars. Then watch the video of sl3ight and I. Some differences include:

* We rarely depress both brake and gas at the same time. That's easy for me since I race with one foot for brake and gas. But for those who use two feet, you need to make sure you fully lift your foot off the brake when you're ready to power out of a turn.

* We use much less braking on almost every turn. You are relying heavily on ABS to stop you. Almost every turn in this game is a chance to practice trail braking. Think of driving a real car and coming up to a stop sign. Do you wait to the last moment and slam the brakes full force? No, you apply heavy pressure at first then lighten up to come to a smooth stop. Try this technique in the game and you'll be more precise with your entry speed. Getting the right entry speed, means you'll never miss the apex and you'll always get the most exit speed out of the corner. Other drivers will be less likely to rear-end you if you are braking lighter too.

* We don't even use the brakes on some turns. Instead we lift off the throttle early to set the car up for a fast exit. You've got tons of power in that Talon, but it doesn't mean you have to use it on every stretch of straight track. After the hotel hairpin for example, I don't use the brakes, I just lift off the throttle at the right time to rotate the car. The final turn before the front straight is the same.

In any case, you just seem to use brunt force with the car and relying on 100% of your brakes on every turn is just a recipe for disaster when your tires wear down.

No big deal pyxen, I never saw you, but we never did hit each other. Blind luck I guess.

Also, I bumper Geezer slightly but sleight was all over me, and I didn't want too get pushed wide into the wall. In the right hander though, there was zero contact from me. Garris and Geezer both went wide, and I decided too shoot the gap. I had too though, I was running 5 seconds slower a lap with them ahead.

Thats the way I like it...

I noticed @ the end of the second vid up there that when Sl3ight pitted after his issues with huyler, I was coming off a 1'47 lap, and he was running 1'51s.. no wonder I got by when he was in the pits.

Nice driving too.. I don't have the patience to do lap after lap damaged like that, if I'm not in a heated battle.. Of course I couldn't peel off and fix a bumped wheel if I'm fighting for position, either..

Garris, to be blunt..quit bitching about crashing, get your car fixed and race it. When your little guys are taking their sweet-ass time (as they always seem to be), let go of your wheel..take a sip of water, breathe a little, and then floor it!

Next race, if you crash..would you like me to wait for you to make sure you have someone to run with? I don't mind babysitting... :trouble:

With one race left I felt that we should begin talks of next season. I don't mind teammates running same car, but if we're going too do it. Why not have a normal championship, and also a manufacturers championship? Instead of averaging out points, why not have a normal championship, and just add the points of the two drivers for a constructors championship? Thoughts?

I'm sorry. I'll get over it.

I was very excited at the beginning of the season. The first race I didn't wreck at all. I only finished 8 out of 12, but I count it as a solid victory. The rest of the season has just gone downhill for me. There is always next race/season.

That would be how I would imagine it would go. There would be a drivers' standings and a teams' standings. Team points could just be the combined drivers' points.

Huyler, another questionnaire for next season?

Everyone else, put forward your ideas, perhaps in a list that is easy for Huyler to copy and paste, so he can put them in the questionnaire.
