Part of the reason why I am thinking of a preseason race to determine car picking order is:
1) I would like to promote more variety. I don't feel that we had a lack of variety, though.
2) I think the A-Class drivers will be successful no matter what they drive. BTK and WiiFreak would still be doing very well without the MGF. I say let the B-Class drivers pick first just to make things a little more challenging for the A-Class drivers.
These ideas have some big contingencies. No idea how to keep people from sandbagging a preseason race. I do want the car selection to be good enough that the 10th person to pick still has a good selection. I imagine 10 years old and 385 would accomplish that. I could see 390. I think 400 might be too much.

I also think the race length is a bit long. It really pushes tire strategy and allows the FF cars to add in an extra pit stop with plenty of time to make back lost time...but on some races, the running order can be decided after just a few laps and drivers are stuck racing alone for an hour+. Perhaps 1hr length races is sufficient? It all comes down to how important you want pit strategy to be.
Pit strategy and lemon to lemans just dont add up. I really dont like that pit strategy has become so important. The FF cars would be higher up. Besides, it gives people a reason to run one of the 71 Miatas in the game

I've come to realize I hate the 206. Especially last race, in the public room, it was even tighter and twitchier than normal.
I'm hoping the next L2L series stays at 375. I have a few "sleepers" I picked up from the UCD I'd love to use, and think a PP upgrade would kill them. (Kei Car, anyone?)

Yeah Keicars don't do well. There was some talk about them gaining tons when mods were added, but they top out too easily. They are never competitive in regular pp racing nights so I can't imagine they would do well. Pretty sure we'll be upping the PP though.
Kei Cars CAN be competitive on 450 night, it just takes forever to tune them for everything they have. A kei car would be great on tires, but they can ONLY be fast on technical courses. Good luck running high speed courses in one. Are we still going with the no ballast rule for next season?

If we ran Tsukuba, Autumn Ring Mini, and London...then yes they'd have an advantage...but any track with a straight would kill them. The just aren't quick enough.
same reason getting a cappucino tuned up wouldn't work..if you could get enough into the car, you could probably win a few races in the technical courses and make some points, but that'd be tough.
Ran a 4'32 (and change) running a couple practice race laps with miata this evening. It was the 2nd of 2 laps, so the only one with a full run at the line and hot tires, but pretty consistent with the times I've been getting in my lounge.
Should be fun on Tuesday! I've departed from the 'norm' and tuned my car a little bit abnormally... (I think anyways)
If I remember correctly, last season we started at 9:00 with a time index of 16. That included qualifying. Did we do 24 hours in 1 hour 30, then we will do 8 hours during qualifying. The time index of 16 means the race will start at 17:00.
Yes it did, The weekend races are easy for me too miss, because I've always got something coming up. I would prefer we keep this on a weeknight, and early in the week.
I've been looking into cars for next season, with the assumption that we'll use 385pp. The R32 Skyline GTS25 Type S comes in at 390pp (bought it at 377pp) after engine and chassis refresh. Just a heads up in case someone was planning on using it.

Soon (tm). This week is the last week of the current season. We will have a week off. No idea when Huyler will settle on rules for the next season. We will start a new thread(s) when that happens and announce it here, so keep an eye out.
We will be doing more than 375 PP, the question is, how much more. I think we will also allow MY 2000.
