I think PD making the conscious decision to allow people to ram their way through the field is a much bigger fail than forgetting to stop the shortcut you took.
Yes, the collision failure before 1.06 was massively harsh. I dont know how many times I failed the 1 lap Suzuka test at turn one because the first car I passed turned into my back bumper, but it certainly made you drive cleanly, unlike the video above (as an example, not meant to be judgemental on your driving DiahatsuDriver)
For the record this is my first ever Gran Turismo game, I do struggle with the controller, learning to drive properly in GT5 has been a big learning curve. I have actually found the licenses to be a big help, of course some just make me rage, and there is way to many 1 lap races.
I just don't have a wheel and am not looking to invest at this time. The cost of the PS3 and the GT5 CE were a huge expense on their own.
Now that you can pinball your way to first place, it's not difficult at all to gold all the S licenses, with or without shortcuts. These are now among the easiest license tests available. Some are still a bit tricky, but still much easier than pre-1.06. I'm only half-heartedly complaining because I also benefited from this change.
I doubt that will last very long since a new patch is coming out right away, and hitting cars in special mode still disqualifies you. I wouldn't be surprised if that was an oversight.
Also the shortcut doesn't work in the lotus challenge, I didn't bother trying it in the Volkswagen Bus race or the Volkswagen Whatever (Jeep race?) because I already had gold in those.

👍 to the bolded bit. If it is your first GT game, of course you will have 🤬-ups and crash into other cars, I was just referring to your video because it was convenient.
You dont need a wheel to enjoy GT5 (as much as some will try and have you believe), so if the purchase of the PS3/GT5 put such a hole in your finances, I say leave the wheel toward the bottom of your priority list. Good luck on your GT-journey.
Don't worry about the wheel, I've golded all 60 licenses,and there are alot of people out there that did it, before update,with the DS3 so you dont need a wheel to enjoy GT5, try to drive clean and before you now it, your learning curve wont be that big.
