Linkin Park are Nu-Metal, which is a trendy version of metal. Nu-Metal does not seem metal to me at all. I hate Linkin Park just as much as I hate Limp Bizkit (d**k). Nu-Metal consists of rapped verses, buzzing guitars, and lumbering, rhythmic drumming. I would suggest that you should listen to REAL metal, my friend. Like Slayer, Anthrax, Meshuggah, Metallica, Fear Factory, Soulfly, Sepultura, and Pantera, these bands are real metal (thrash metal).

But sadly for Metallica, they are selling out rapidly. After the black album was released, everything for them turned the opposite way in their years and when St. Anger was released, it has become clear that Metallica are has-beens :indiff:

And to think that I actually used to like Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit? I feel dirty and humbled :yuck: :grumpy:
Slayer, Anthrax, Metallica, Soulfly, and Pantera are some of my favorites as well, I like Motley Crue (Hard Rock) and also to Slipknot (Nu Metal, I think). Recently I started listening a lot to Motorhead.
IMO: Linkin Park sucks, I've seen many music vidoes by the band. Their videos suck as much as their music

Queen, The Beatles, and Led Zeppelin. Not saying I like every one of their songs, but I do think that they are some of, if not the best bands ever.

1. Led Zeppelin
2. The Beatles (even though I dont like all their songs)
3. Pink Floyd
4. The Jimi Hendrix Experience
5. Elton John (his work in the 70s is awesome, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is an awesome album)

Public Enemy is the greatest band/group of any genre ever - or at least I like them a LOT right now

AC/DC
Thin Lizzy
Deep Purple
Soundgarden

Pink Floyd are on the top of my list. Led Zeppelin were probably one of the most influential rock bands on the 70s, but I wouldn't go as far as to call them the #1 band of all time.

I don't see why so many people have AC/DC on their lists though. They were a great band and all, but the majority of their music sounded the same. They weren't as dynamic as the two aforementioned bands.

At least I don't like AC/DC, they are too soft for my style. I'm listening every day more and more to Motley Crue.

I'm trying to figure out how Tool is all of the sudden overrated. I hardly ever hear anyone mention Tool at all (except to say that they're overrated, of course). I guess it just comes with being that good.

Led Zeppelin for numero uno, by the way.

How can you not like AC/DC? They are regarded as one of the best rock bands in the 70's and 80's
I have one of their songs "Gone Shootin'" From the Beavis and Butthead: Do America soundtrack, and the song is just too "soft" for me. Motley Crue also has soft songs (like Home Sweet Home, Without You), but I learned to like them. I heard some samples from other AC/DC albums, but right now, not into them.

Because they have a heap of idiot 'fans' that think Maynard is a prophet and Tool is the next best thing since sliced bread. It's those people that go around preaching Tool across the internet where the people who pop up and say they are overrated stem from. A band can only be overrated if they get more attention than they deserve, and if all these crazy mofos didn't go around saying Tool were so good they wouldn't exactly be overrated then would they (or less so at least)?

With that said, Tool is in my top 5 favourite bands.

I'll get that way sometimes. I dig too deep into song meanings, and start to think of how that effects my life and how right and good it is. Although I do have my disagreeances with some of the thing Maynard says, or the way he delivers it. None the less I wake up the next morning naked, and a bad after taste in my mouth. :-p

1. STP (Stone Temple Pilots)
2. AIC (Alice in Chains)
3. Styx
4. Journey
5. George Strait
6. Tool

Pretty much in that order.

Oh, if George Strait seems odd, it does. But it gets the chicks.

An entire thread about great bands and not once has the name...

VAN HALEN

come up once. I mean come on. I am not saying they are the best, but to start hearing about Linkin Park and Elton John before hearing Van Halen is just a travesty.

Rammstein
RATM
Pantera
RJD2
DJ Shadow
Deltron 3030
Digable Planets

As Barry White said:
Let the music play on
Just until I feel this misery is gone
Ah, movin’, kickin’, groovin’, keep the music strong
Ah, let it play on and on, let it play on and on and on and on and on and on, play on, and on, play on!

I have to completely agree with that 100%. DLR era Van Halen is easily one of the best hard rock bands of all time.

As for other artists that have not even got a mention yet, The Who and Joe Satriani. The Who are one of the true innovators of rock and released Who's Next, what is arguably the best album of all time. Joe Satriani is to put it simply, one of the greatest guitar players alive right now. He deserves a mention at least.

As for the greatest of all time, it would have to be either Zeppelin, Floyd, Rush, or AC/DC imo. AC/DC is probably the best live band in the world right now. Absolutely stunning band to hear live.

Whoever wrote that list knows what they are talking about. Nothing appears to be out of place after reading it, and I'm glad to see various artists on there that would have probably been overlooked by many other lists. Very good list, not a single bad artist on there.

EDIT: Ignore this part of the post please

Those bands might have been from influence, impact, and some popularity (with those who like them, not me).
NO SLAYER OR MOTLEY CRUE, except for those in red, they all suck

Because Slayer and Motley Crue aren't the best bands ever!

And that's a very sharp statement considering I bet you haven't even heard of half of those bands.

I have heard many of them thats how I know that they suck. Most of them are rock n roll (the 70's crap version), or pop or wave. No metal. It sucks.

Come on man, there is other good music around, we all get your point by now. You can certainly say you like a band but saying it over and over in every one of your posts doesnt come across very well.

sorry for giving my opinion, i thought this was a forum where members could express their opinions on the bands they love. Maybe i should just follow the crowd and like what everyone else likes

I never said you couldn't say what you like, I actually stated the exact opposite in my post above. All i am saying is that you have to keep an open mind and realize that you favorite band is not everyone elses favorite band. There is nothing wrong with saying you like a band once or twice but saying it in 4 or 5 different threads probably over 10 times is going a little too far.

Nothing wrong with Superjoint Ritual, they are a cool band, but still you made it as if they were better than anyother band, I am that way with Slayer and Motley Crue
