Route X, i think, is pure fictional without resemble of any actual place.
I swore I remember reading an article when it was released as DLC for GT5 that it was based on a street that was by their new headquarters or something of that nature

I guess it was for euro cars not tracks.

Also, check my above post! ;)
Checked; all the opponent cars in the Euro Championship were European, although you were able to choose any car from the game.
Pretty much confirmed, all Special Stage Routes are Japanese locations. 👍
I don't think PD thought about that beyond "we need another track for this race series." It's our job to over-analyze such things.

Indeed, just what I was gonna say

"-norikhestan", just saying it is fun :D

@Streeto, I know the Wangan is real, but seeing how the SSR tracks don't use anything of the actual roads, like the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series did, I only see them being a rip or tribute until PD gives us the Special Stage City theory.

Or actually do what TXR did, I'd settle for that.

I think Cape ring is based on the Kawazu-Nanadaru Loop Bridge in Japan

There was a thread with pictures of the possible real Deep Forest. It's in the USA and currently being used as a testing road for big industrial equipment.

I've always thought that High Speed Ring is in Japan. This is because of the slight connection between that track and Twin Ring Motegi ("Ring" in thier names), and the bridge at HSR looks Japanese to me.

Although, I think @sparkytooth pretty much hit the nail on the head. :)

High Speed Ring - ?
Cape Ring - Japan
Autumn Ring - maybe Italy?
Deep Forest Raceway - Germany
Grand Valley Speedway - Europe / Asia / USA?
Eiger Nordwand - Switzerland
Trial Mountain Circuit - USA
Kart Space - Asia?
Special Stage Route X - ?
Apricot Hill Raceway - Japan
Gran Turismo Arena - Asia
Matterhorn - Switzerland
Special Stage Route 5 - Japan
Special Stage Route 7 - Japan

That's what we've got so far :D

I think Cape ring is based on the Kawazu-Nanadaru Loop Bridge in Japan

Part of the track was inspired by such a loop bridge. The location however is based on Izu Province, which itself is a peninsula (Cape). The view of Mount Fuji in the distance adds further credence to it being based on that spit of land just to the south of the mountain.

Trial Mountain is in Scotland! :D

I guess it would have been too much to ask for someone NOT to have beat me to that one.

Also, I'd have to assume that Apricot Hill is somewhere in Georgia

I agree with the previous poster that Autumn Ring would be in New England. Mass, New Hampshire.......in this area.

I would imagine Route X would be located in the Abu Dahbi region.

I always imagined Deep Forest and Trial Mountain to be based in Japan. Trial Mountain does have the monkey, after all... but then it also has a lake monster so I'm probably overanalysing it. Pre-GT6, I imagined Apricot Hill and the old, pre-GT4 High Speed Ring to be in Japan too but since the scenery of both circuits have changed to look a little more European to me, Grand Valley also has a European feel to it but mainly due to the circuit design. Autumn Ring looks like it could be in New England. Cape Ring is a very odd location but it looks a little similar to the Mt. Iso course creator location from GT5. The Special Stages are quite obviously based off of the highway system in Tokyo.

As for the fictional circuits from GT1-4, I always imagined Midfield Raceway to be on an island in the Pacific Ocean for whatever reason. Red Rock Valley would probably be in Arizona, Colorado or Utah. The Super Speedway oval itself has definitely got to be based off of the Motegi Speedway, although the pit lane design is completely different, and the huge grandstands are completely fantasy.

This thread reminded me of this old thread. I remember spending ages looking at maps trying to find SSR11 when I was younger. :dopey:

Cape Ring could be in Italy with Mt. Vesuvius in the background.

SSRX is next to the world's slowest airport.

I had a GT4 theory that Motorland, Beginner Course, Midfield etc were in the center of the Test Course. If you lauched a car up in the air and took a picture, you could see a whole forested landscape rendered in the center.

Well they are not in GT6 so not sure it matters but several of the original tracks that were in GT4 were based in the USA. El Capitan, Seattle, New York, Grand Canyon and I can't remember the name of the Yosemite rally track that was in there.
