I'm really enjoying the Archery. It's my new favourite Olympic event.

Serbia v Korea Women's Volleyball has been fun... But my daughter is at Volleyball tryouts as we speak and Dad's a bit nervous for her!

Olympic Volleyball, both traditional indoors and beach, are both great. Got to see some Table Tennis and badminton as well. Both amazing.

Would like to catch some handball.

After the games in 84 we started playing in my basement with a youth sized volleyball. Mattress boxes turned on their sides for goals. If it hit the box at all, it was a goal. 2 v 2, sometimes 3 v 3. Fun stuff.


American goalkeeper Hope Solo has her head up her behind again. Silly. Digicam Tweets about the commentators? Just play!! This from a woman who was KICKED OFF (by vote of the players) a previous World Cup team.

Talented, attractive, and idiotic (apparently).

We are doing well in the tennis! Laura Robson just won the first set v Safarova (spell?) of the czech republic!
 
There's over 20 events on now and BBC are showing the same one on BBC 1 and BBC 3 :grumpy:

EDIT: BBC 1 changed to a interview instead, but I think it's soon to be Diving :D

RTE are only showing Canoeing, and BBC are now showing Equestrian and Diving events.

All I can get on that is Highlights as I have a Technomate box which doesn't support red button. So I instead have 5 channels that show things. Only 2 of which are related to Olympics. 1 for football only, the other for yesterday's sport. 1 for childrens TV and 1 with all the commands I can't use and another one that isn't showing anything.
 
Watching the diving, don't have a clue how the scoring works but there we are.

I wanted to say that I'm unhappy Bell restricted Canadians from streaming online other than what local broadcasters are showing us. Why? Because Canadian sources never stream the sports I want to watch. :grumpy:

She was the up and coming young, talented, athletic goalkeeper. Briana Scurry was the older, more experienced keeper. The coach had been using Solo, but in an important match dropped Solo and started Scurry. The USA lost 3-0 and Scurry did NOT play well at all. Hindsight being 20/20, it was a poor coaching decision. After the match, Solo told the media that she would have made those saves, no doubt about it, or something similar. She was upset at being benched, sure, but you don't throw your coach AND teammate under the bus like that, at least not publicly.

The coach and team was pissed about it, and rightly so. They voted, kicked her off, and sent her home. There was more to it... I think she had the chance to soften her statement or perhaps recognize the negative effect it had on the team, but she refused iirc, and held firm, perhaps even stinging a little bit more.

She's obviously overcome that now and has a starting spot on this team, absolutely cemented, as one of the top women goalkeepers in the world.

We were looking so good in the diving too, shame we didn't get a medal. Still the individual I guess...

Never knew that about her. At least she had the skills to back it up, and has moved on.

I would venture to say she is the top female keeper in the world today, just with how she dominates the box and commands her defense.
 
Is this going to be a continuing trend, very disappointed.
 
Equestrian on RTE2 and BBC3 and just a overview on BBC1 atm.. Very disappointed at coverage..

American Jordyn Wieber is the World Champion in Gymnastics and was just knocked out of competing in the final because of this silly rule. She scored the fourth highest in the overall standings but was third of the Americans. A woman with two left feet from Somalia could advance further than the reigning World Champion because of this rule.

Are we trying to have a competition of the world's best athletes or are we having televised affirmative action?

edit: Not trying to knock on you, just sharing my opinion.
