Is it just me or is this pretty 'dis-jointed'? They seem to be skipping randomly from section to section. I'm loving the music now though.

Yeah I feel the same, suddenly its gone into a total mish mash of themes and eras whereas it started really well its gone slightly odd now in the middle. Also I wish they would stop making this a Samsung mobile advert!

They seem to have spent the whole budget on just the first hour. I don't get this section at all, hopefully they bring it back round.

Will cry if they play Blackout Crew - Put a Donk On It

Muse saves it from Dizzy 🤬

NO NOT TINY TEMPER. 🤬

They played "Push the Button", that was far worse. They could've played "I luv u", you would've loved that.

This is awesome, kudos to Danny Boyle!

Can't wait for them to play Muse's song when the athletes enter.

The whole texting thing kinda ruined the era's.

This. It was fantastic to show off just how much talent we've produced across such a wide span of time but why all the texting and 'txt spk'? :( I enjoyed the little bit of Tinie Tempah they played, it didn't go on for long enough. :sly:

Would you trust Beckham with a speedboat  Thank god its not Boris.

I was thinking that. He had that smirk on his face like he'd just seen a ramp or something

And I just have a picture of Boris on a speedboat with his mouth open and flapping about, tongue out...

I would love Boris to turn up somewhere; you can't help but love him.

On a side note; does anyone else thing that Boyle has tried too hard to be multi-cultural? I don't recall any of the 'main' characters being white. I know London and a lot of the UK is a cultural hot-pot and it's good that it is but....some of us are white.

Boyle's challenge must have been to evoke every possible emotion - from the most solemn to the outright silly - an attempt to put indifference to death.

Kenneth Brannagh as Brunel? Rowan Atkinson as Mr Bean? Both stereotypical whiteys of course! :D

'Stereotypical whiteys'

Was anyone else hoping for someone like Bowie to turn up during the music section? Just as another nice surprise.

Oh man did I have my fingers crossed for David Gilmour and Roger Waters to make epic comeback...

Absolutly fantastic ceremony so far..im loving all these tiny countries who have about 3 athletes taking part!!

Oh my god, that 7 foot tall Chinese guy! Of course he's a basketball player!

Thanks. I've been looking for that song for a long time.

Here it is:
