I'm generally in favor of plastic surgery. Obviously there are horrific examples of over doing it, and there are plenty of people who do it wrong (too often/too big/too tight). If you do it right, it should look natural. You have to have the proper self-image to do it though. If you can't evaluate yourself objectively (which it sounds like Mrs. AT has an issue with), you probably shouldn't be handed the keys to the plastic surgery car so to speak.
I also really like plastic surgery during your 20s. There are two women that I work with on a regular basis who figuratively scream "I need plastic surgery" to me. One of them would be stunning if it weren't for her insanely massive clown nose. I mean I can't see her without thinking "Hi Nose, having a good nose... uh... day?". She's probably in her early 30s and she's already missed out on her entire 20s of having a face that is proportionate and being considered gorgeous looking instead of unfortunate.
The other female I work with is in her 50s, and has a bad case of turkey neck. Why would you not fix that? Again, she'd be fantastic looking if not for that issue - but it's so prominent and quite awful. She should have the self-confidence to have it done.
I find that few women would do well with breast augmentation. There are rare examples, but mostly they'd be doing themselves a disservice. Many many women could use breast reduction surgery - which my sister is doing it (in her 20s) soon, and I'm very proud of her for being able to recognize it and do that for herself.
I'm also a fan of hair dye, braces (though people over-do that, some crooked teeth look really cute), hair plugs (which I considered but luckily I look good bald), and getting exercise.
