I wonder if they will do something with AFK scripts.

That would be enough for me. I am absolutely against the possibility of earning AFK credits. No matter how you twist it.. to me that's cheating. And I welcome any change to the game that prevents this from happening.

i can see where you're coming from but it's literally a single player game where what the other guy has in his garage doesn't matter lol

Yeah PD almost certainly considers AFK grinding (or just normal grinding) as stealing from their microtransaction economy, so I guess you're quite on point there. But this progression bug is ruining the game for a lot of people, surely that is top priority.

An interestingly long, relatively inconveniently timed and relatively short-notice maintenance interruption.

My first bet would be that the 1.07/08 disaster last time meant they had to rush to patch things up as quickly as possible, and thus left behind some changes they still wanted/needed to make. So this would be a follow-up to that.

My second bet would be, as said, to close a loophole for using a script to grind races for credits. However it's not obvious to me that this would be done as a game update, as opposed to say a PS Remote Play one.

Time will tell. (Or we'll all be out for over a day again!).

Edit - upcoming changes for GT7, from above link

We know that this is not the Gran Turismo experience you expect and we will be making a goodwill gesture in the form of a non-paid credit pack of 1 million Cr. available to those players who may have been affected

Updates which will come into effect beginning of April:

* Increase rewards in the events in the latter half of the World Circuits by approximately 100% on average.
* Addition of high rewards for clearing the Circuit Experience in all Gold/All Bronze results.
* Increase of rewards in Online Races.
* Include a total of eight new one-hour Endurance Race events to Missions. These will also have higher reward settings.
* Increase the upper limit of non-paid credits in player wallets from 20M Cr. to 100M Cr.
* Increase the quantity of Used and Legend cars on offer at any given time.

some of the longer-term updates :

* Increase the payout value of limited time rewards as we develop as a live service.
* Further World Circuit event additions.
* Addition of Endurance Races to Missions including 24-hour races.
* Ranking battles in Online Time Trials will be made more advantageous with rewards. earned based on achieving a time that is within +1%, +2%, +3%, and +5% of top time.
* Make it so cars can be sold.

The patch update previously deployed was intended to rectify an issue with inconsistent reward payouts within circuit experiences later in the game. But, to re-establish the intended equilibrium and provide more accurate rewards based on time investment and completion, it was necessary to recalculate the rewards system as a whole.
At last ! It gives me some hope.
  • Make it so cars can be sold.
Finally ! Seems that they've listened, many points listed are very interesting and seem to respond to what most players were asking.

I do think that the payouts should be better, but just "makes sense" as I've already written elsewhere, payout with a bonus if you don't repeat the same route too often.

But practices like the AFK rubber band credits farming is just nothing in my eyes.
I accept high vehicle prices even though I'm neither a massive grinder nor an MTX user.
Because these vehicles then reflect a value and an underlying "performance". Now if I can ridicule the whole thing with a rubber band or a script, I no longer see any value.

As I said, that's my opinion and nobody has to like it.

Holy ****

Did I miss the notice or did they start without notice? I was 3 minutes away from finishing a one hour long race. I'm going to bed now.

Its the stupid game economy that pushes people do such tricks because some people in here has life outside the game. And no its not cheating at all because its just a script that literally wallrides for you in Blue Moon. This is like calling b SPEC is cheating because it drives for you.

I just thought of something. I know they aren't directly related, but remember the time trials in GT5 and 6 that were dominated by cars that could only qualify for the event by gaining crazy amounts of miles achieved by having the car lap an oval while AFK (two I can think of off the top of my head are GT5 1969 and older production cars at Autumn Ring where the Lamborghini Muria won and GT6 525 pp race cars ar Laguna Seca where the Toyota TSO50 won). PD didn't address that at all even though people who didn't do the AFK strategy were at a competitive disadvantage. Now PD is at a monetary disadvantage from people doing an AFK strategy and act quickly. PD certainly makes their priorities clear.

Some good changes ahead then. This is pleasing to see and I'm glad they're taking steps to make sure it's a better rewarding experience.

A lot of goodness coming. Although let's be clear: the current mx is not bringing all these changes, that will happen in April. But it's still good news.

This is excellent news all around, is this blog a troll or what

So what's the guess on how long the current mx lasts? We're at 11 minutes so far...

Theres some great new content to look forward to , kinda wonder why they are making the Endurance Races Missions though and not Events ?

Really Great news! Being so close to April Fool's day I'm a bit worried 😅 Bit late on the additional credits for Circuit Experience for me though as I already got all gold, and god damn some if them were tough and I would have really appreciated a better reward. That's the bad thing about buying GT games early and doing things fast.
