major bad news for us aussies (PAL Release Delayed)

i have reached a time in my life (27) when i can afford to just go out and buy whatever i want when it comes to ps2 gaming, with the exception of imported machines and chipped machines etc etc, cos i prefer to stick to my old trusty pal playstation (even if i have had to replace it 3 times due to laser problems) and now i am at this age when i can go get what games i want and buy things like a DFP and then get the chassis built for the DFP to sit on, and then get all the furniture removed from my living room so i can see my tv well without having to save up for any of it, or ask my mum, they blummin well do this to me!
i hate it.
rockstar manage to deliver.
gta s-a will be here on time, if not early for me (i have contacts) and i spose my DFP will gather dust (i smoke a lot) while i play that instead.
why though?

why cant they just give you a date, then stick to it.
its like having a new sofa delivered.
it never happens when they say it will.
december was long enough to wait......
but march???
when is metal gear solid 3 out.... where's that forum gone?........

Just delay it for the other countries then, I don't want to miss the release because of the French or German people (probably the biggest problem).
It's not like they are going to release a Spanish version in Los Angeles, now is it :crazy:. Europe -> English language games. It's not PD's problem that the other people are too arrogant to read English (almost all people in Europe can at least read English).

first killzone delays one week till Dec 1st, now GT4 till Q1 :grumpy:
now i'm really forced to buy DTM2 just for all those free hours ;)

ok, 13 languages are many, but are there really so many infos of the cars in the game?
I want to play, not read the (whole) history of any car :indiff:
 
Bytheway, I hope they aren't translating the game into Dutch without making English an option in the game.. I could only imagine how wrong GT in Dutch would be :crazy:

I would say a majority of French gamers do not really understand written English (and in my opinion, Italians are about as bad, whereas Germans tend to be much more fluent).
But this is besides the point here : let's not forget this is a DRIVING game.
I would be willing to buy the game with Japanese text and voice-acting if it meant it was coming out in 2004!!

I've recently discovered that those laser problems are a breeze to fix. Just open the PS2, open the DVD player, clean the two rails the laser platform is moving on, reapply grease, and close everything. It will work as new.

As for chipping, go here: www.ps2fliptop.net , order one of those beautiful flip-tops (the thing that makes your ps2 look cool and gives you one of those things that allow you to change your DVDs in your PS2 like your old PSX), and order some Swapmagic discs. That more than suffices for making your PS2 ready
for GT4 in whatever version it is first released. Then have someone here send you a US version once released or pick up a Chinese or Japanese (Chinese probably has English carnames, so might be better) from www.lik-sang.com or www.playasia.com ...

This is my way, and it worked last year for GT4 Prologue.

I don't need to buy a flip-top, my PStwo already has one! The thing is tiny, though, so I don't know if I want to mess around with the internals.

Still, many people(like me) don't want to play with the less detailed NTSC format. They just have to wait. :indiff:

No, it's not true. The GT4 DVD will be a dual layer DVD. And SwapMagic DVD don't work with dual layer DVD. Sorry. :guilty:

Good point there. Wonder how much work it would be to rip out some movies and get the game to single layer size, if we can turn it into a 2 cd game, or how long we'd have to wait for version 3 of the Swap Magic DVD to appear ...

Guess I'll be chipping one of my PS2s after all to be sure.
 
Hey, is the least KY can do for us here in America, we didnt have any GT Concept, or any GT4 Prologue or any GT4 Demo, so I think releasing the game in December here in America is the least that PD can do for the GT fans right here.....

This is such a crock of ****. I've just read this news on PCZ & argghhhh! I can't believe its been delayed AGAIN coupled with NO online mode with GT4 (I already knew about this, I'm betting the online version will be cut down). I dont give a damn about B Spec mode, I dont give a damn about photo mode.

Well I hope my poorly installed (supposed to be 'proffesionally' fitted :crazy: ) modchip can play an 'obtained' version of the US one. This is one step too far in my book, I thought GT3 was dissapointing, GT2 wasn't much improved (worse in some cases) than original & I've finally run out of patience. Maybe I'll buy the PAL version when it finally comes out but probably not now. :guilty: Well atleast I'll have Half-Life 2, who'd have thought that would have been less delayed than GT4....

I had an e-mail from gamespot.com stating that the release date is MOVED FORWARED FROM 12/14/2004 to 12/1/2004 .

Gamespot.com have this. Someone from Sony told them that that is the exact reason why it's been delayed....Gamespot.com

I should have an Xbox by then and possibly a copy of Forza.....if it is REALLY good (and I don't think it will be, but we'll see) maybe GT4 will have to wait..... :indiff:
 
I think the PAL delay because of sales (!) will be harmful, as people will be encouraged to download or obtain an illegal copy of GT4 because of the long wait.

This happened too for the long awaited pc game Doom3 because the US version came out a couple weeks sooner and there was no demo.

Since GT4 is a PS2 game and will most likely fit in a DVD9, that won't be much an issue, as not everyone has a dual layer dvd recorder and dual layer recordable dvds. But still, many people will not be willing to wait anymore and will not spend their money on GT4 two times.

Why is it PAL gamers always get the crappy end of the deal? Even in the case of GTA it comes out in the US first, and they make the damn game here in Scotland! I'm fully aware that GT4 is just a game blah blah blah but still, its a very important game to its fans. Of course, after this fiasco I reckon the numbers of fans will be dropping rapidly.

Well this is a new low for the old entertainment vs. business debate; it's clear that business is going to win every time. If the delay is for languages, then that, too, seems just a little ridiculous. Now I'm not one to say everyone else in Europe should speak my language, I speak Spanish myself anyway, but the fact of the matter is that MOST Europeans speak English anyway so why delay the game to fit in as many different languages as possible?

Sorry.... very long rant over...but I'm sure I'm not alone in getting extremely sick of this crappy treatment PAL users receive compared to the big spending NTSC users.

Release the game now! I don't even care if it's as riddled with bugs as GT2 was....

let's have a bit more empathy here. GT is only published by a multinational, multi-billion dollar grossing game publishing/consumer electronics/record company/film studio, surely their inexperience at localisation and translation is a good excuse.
