It wasn't really being cremated then it was that the Giants decided to give up a bunch of runs with a bunch of dumb mistakes. Bochy likes to toss young pitchers into bad situations and not do anything to help.

Thought the Dodgers sucked on D too last night.. Giants couldn't capitalize... Like usual. Hard hit balls at defenders. AJ Ellis needs to learn how to block pitches.
 
Are you 🤬 kidding me? Somehow someone got on against Kennedy, then he walks the pitcher, then hits the next batter, then gives up a grand slam. :yuck:

I don't care if it is the beginning of the season, this is ridiculous.
 
We'll take it. It was 3-2 in favor of the Astros. This series so far has been brutal in the hits department. It was especially brutal last night with us getting blanked 4-0. Tonight, we man'd up and won 3-2. The tally for Miami was four hits and two errors. We managed seven hits with no errors. Rubber game tomorrow night.
 
Philadelphia can't hold a lead. Alternatively the Mets don't quit. Mets score 7 unanswered to beat the Phillies 7-4 and look for a sweep against a Cliff Lee coming from the DL.
 
Finally in the bottom of the 9th we spoil their shutout. :rolleyes:

Edit: ...and that's all we get. :yuck:

Sorry if it seems I keep going off in here. I'm a pretty competitive person, so this kind of crap just doesn't sit well with me. 👎

I'm a fair weather/casual fan at baseball, so I'm pretty relaxed when it comes to the sport. On the NBA, I used to be pretty hardcore, then I started to get tired of all the bias and political B.S. in the officiating, so I've loosened up considerably at that as well.

Having said that, Braves & the Cardinals won, Dodgers lost. NL-wise, it's all good tonight. :p
 
Josh Hamilton got into the record books. 18 total bases from 4 HR and a double is the most for a hitter in a single game. Rangers win over the Orioles 10-3.

Not a record. It might be an AL record but it is not a Major League Record. Shawn Green had 19 Total bases from 4 HR, a double AND a single in a 6 for 6 game in 2002 against the Milwaukee Brewers.
 
With a heavy heart, I'd like to extend my thoughts and condolences on the passing of Jerry McMorris. He used to be the manager and CEO of the Colorado Rockies. I think he was 71 when he passed away yesterday or so.


Elsewhere...

* The Twins are still the only team with single-digit wins. They have only eight wins on the season. So if you think your team is doing poorly, just know that the Twins have it worse.

* And as for Josh Hamilton? He's too damn good. I wouldn't be surprised if the Rangers sweep us in our upcoming Interleague battle next weekend here in Houston. Of course... next season, this will be an AL West divisional rivalry. This same-state, same-league battle of Astros vs. Rangers will be like the AL version of Pirates vs. Phillies.


I almost forgot the Marlins were riding a seven-game winning streak before my Astros beat them last night. Do remember- it's May. Everything all leads up to that run for October. However, it's all about who all are there in the end to make that postseason run. Wasn't it last year or so when the Red Sox were all on top of the AL East... all to fall apart and not make the postseason? I just hope this young Astros squad can keep playing hard to hopefully sneak into the playoffs.

The rundown today:
Cincinnati (16-14) gets revenge on Axford and Milwaukee (13-18) in the 9th to seal it: 2-1.
Chicago Cubs (13-18) get 7 strong from Maholm and shut out Atlanta (19-13) 1-0.
Toronto (17-14) behind Morrow win in Oakland (16-15): 5-2.
Colorado (13-17) with call-up Freidrich (maybe he sells AC) knock off San Diego (11-21): 6-2.
Pittsburgh (14-16) gets saved by the 'pen in wake of Bedard's early injury and hold off the Nationals (18-12): 4-2.
New York Mets (18-13) decimate the bullpen of Philadelphia (14-18): 10-6.
AND the last early night game:
Tampa Bay (19-11) scores 4 in the 9th to top the New York Yankees (16-15): 4-1.
 
And the D-Backs are currently getting their 🤬 kicked again. Go figure. :rolleyes:
 
Damn it to Hell. Ran out of gas and couldn't tame the Marlins. We're heading to Pittsburgh on Friday (day off Thursday) after having been dealt a 5-3 defeat in 12 innings. Astros just couldn't buy much offense against the Marlins' pitching and defense. 11 hits for Miami; 8 for Houston. I think we had two errors compared to Miami's one error.

Happy now, Miami?

It was in jeopardy before he put the hat on. He's just a holdover until they can get someone better. Sveum was the one they (and everyone else) wanted and so once he chose the Cubbies the pickings looked slim so they chose someone with a big name and a big personality.

This way, once he fails, he becomes that much easier to blame so the players don't take too much heat in the next, inevitable transition period. When you bring in yet another manager, you don't want the whole team to be edgy due to bad press. It's better to blame the guy who left.

Red Sox are in for big changes from the GM and down. I think next year's team is going to look much different.
 
Too bad about the Red Sox. I'm not familiar with their personnel, but I hope they become the strong contender again soon. My other AL team, Seattle sucks, too. :crazy:
 
No Astros baseball tonight. So what's next for my boys? We're in Pittsburgh for the weekend (3 games) followed by a two-game swing in Philadelphia. I'm going to be sad watching the at Phillies games since so many former Astros are playing for PHI.

Wow, just read this today that the Phillies could be sellers and Victorino and Hamels could be dealt.
