I already decided that I'm not going to watch any of the upcoming road trip. Will catch back up with them when they get home again.

Mets get to face Milwaukee's Lamborghini Gallardo tonight. 57 pitches through the 2nd batter in the 2nd inning. This game may end in 4 hours.
 
Stopped watching and stopped caring... as my Astros lost 5-1 at the Phillies. We didn't have such a sunny time as it was raining in Philadelphia. Tomorrow afternoon's match COULD be rained out. Maybe I hope it does so that they can return to Houston where it should be dry (and hot) when the Astros come back to Houston to play two games against the Milwaukee Brewers. We're on something called... a losing streak. Falling apart at the seams. Not as if we're the Dodgers or the Rangers (as far as great teams are concerned) or anything. Still, it's just a shame that we go into our losing ways. I just don't want a repeat of 2011 for my team.

Congratulations to all other winners... including the Phillies.
 
So what is that now, 9 losses out of our last 10 games.

It's 2010 all over again I fear. Screw not watching the away games, I'll just come back in September. Someone call me if anything changes. :indiff:
 
It took 10 innings, and we failed. AGAIN. This time, Astros lost 4-3. So we're coming back to Houston winning only one game from the road trip. I'm expecting our asses to get handed to over the weekend when the Rangers come to town. I just hope we can win our two-game swing against the Brewers coming up and even in taking on the Cubs after the Rangers series.

Four straight losses. Whether or not it becomes five or more depends on how we do starting on Wednesday.


[UPDATE] I learned it was a Hunter Pence who hit a walk-off homer against my Astros to win the game for the Phillies. Former Astro beating his former team. Damn you, Hunter Pence! Damn you, Phillies! Nothing is more disparaging than one of your former teammates beating your favorite team. Goes to show what kind of sad sacks we've become. DAMN IT TO HELL!!!

Strasburg had a bad game today. But he had an excuse! He somehow ended up with Icy Hot on his groin. Well that's a new one.
 
Not only did ex-Astro Hunter Pence hit the walkoff home run for the Phils, he hit it off ex-Phillie Brett Myers.

It was the first time the Phils have won three in a row this season; at least the Astros have done that twice already. It was also the Phillies' first series sweep (even it it was only a two-game series); the Astros had swept the Mets the beginning of the month.

It was the Phillies' first extra-inning win this season, while the Astros are still looking for theirs; both teams were 0-4 in overtime going into the game.

The Phillies had yet to win a game that Cliff Lee started this year, in spite of his 1.95 ERA, until this game.

Why would you ever... EVER! throw your helmet in the direction of an umpire?

I remember a game last year when Bautista had a bad 3rd strike called on him. Instead of turning an arguing with him he kind of walked back past the umpire instead of to the dugout and without directly looking at him he said he didn't agree. That's a classy way to disagree with an umpire, it doesn't show him up and it still gets your point across. You don't run 5 steps down the foul line on the 3-1 count to show him up and then you definitely don't throw your helmet after the 3-2... The guy is an idiot and has been since he was 9. Too bad he will never learn because his parents do nothing but promote how he acts.
 
I think in anger he just had the intention of throwing the helmet on the ground. It's not exactly the best shape so he didn't know it would bounce in the ump's direction.

Did you see where it hit the ground? It was in the direction of the ump. I don't think he threw it directly at him but it was in no way an "unlucky" bounce.

Why throw your helmet at all? And if you do why not into the infield or towards the dugout?

Anyway sports radio here saying they have heard 4 games and a fine.

Not sure what the laws are like in Canada but I know if you attack someone at a game like that in the states they hit you with a mandatory jail sentence of 30 days. And that's if you don't actually have charges pressed against you. I remember one guy that ran on the field during the Pro Bowl a few years ago got hit with 6 months and he didn't attack anyone. Can't imagine what is gonna happen to that idiot.
 
First of all, both of those calls look like balls to me when I was watching "Around the Horn" and "Pardon the Interruption" earlier today. Lawrie lost his cool. I especially thought he did not intentionally throw down his helmet to the umpire intentionally as the helmet ricocheted off the ground. As for the guy who threw a drink at the ump for his calls, that is a "banned for life" situation from attending any game. You do NOT assert yourself to officials and/or players the way that dope did, let alone assert yourself in that manner to begin with.
 
Its funny how players and coaches get fined/suspended... But come on.. the umpire had a fit of his own calling that strike three. Umpire screwed up and initiated it all because he didn't like the player calling him out.

Grow a pair of balls Selig and get on the Umpires Union to do a better job. First to third crap isn't priority.
 
Oh I don't disagree that 3rd strike was a make up call of sorts but players know that. The city we are both from had one of the worst offending umpires. He is the head umpire here and therefore does all high level games and if you upset him in anyway your strike zone doubled in size. I was a catcher and I more than upset him a few times and I literally had to swing at anything... He grew up with that all his life and just because he is this new "superstar" as the Canadian media keeps telling him over and over again his head just keeps getting larger. I can't believe he only got 4 games for it, if you hit an official with a projectile in any other sports your likely getting something more significant than a suspension of 1/40th of the schedule.

It's not like this is something new. You don't show up the umpires. It's pretty plain and simple, I don't think it should be that way and the umpires need to have a thicker skin than they currently do but still every player knows it.
 
The umpire did a HORRIBLE job for that game. Regardless, Lawrie's suspension is warranted. You make contact with an umpire, you get suspended.
 
The best part was when the ump got hit by the beer. Hope that fan doesn't suffer too much. Should've been pizza attack 2.

Good old-fashioned beat down. The Astros were ahead 8-1 heading into the 9th, but we sobered up against the Brewers in a shaky 9th inning to end up winning 8-3. Carlos Lee finally joined the home run fiesta by cashing in a solo jack after about 69 at-bats. Our losing streak is snapped. We were also tied with the Cubs for last place in the NL Central- both 6 games back of the division-leading Cardinals. Bud Norris (HOU) won the game while Randy Wolf (MIL) lost.

MIL: 3 runs, 5 hits, 1 error
HOU: 8 runs, 8 hits, 0 errors


That's all. Hope your team(s) did well today/tonight.
 
Albert just dropped a 3-run bomb to center.
 
Chock up another loss.

Chris Young can't come back soon enough. He hit a grand slam in AAA ball today.

Next week some time....hopefully.
 
Hey Astros fans, how y'all feeling about coming to the AL West? That will make it Rangers, Angels, Athletics, Mariners, and Astros.
