A lot of us are still shaky about the whole deal. I'm kind of like... couldn't they get some other NL team in a western time zone to go instead of my Astros to the AL West? What if it was Colorado or Arizona to be in the AL West rather than the Astros. Maybe it's a money deal to have something like Astros/Rangers as a CONFERENCE rivalry rather than Interleague.

If the Astros are going to the AL, they're going to need AL-quality talent so that they don't become a doormat to teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, Rays, Rangers, Angels, and teams like that. Better contend than be a bottomfeeder.

Yeah, honestly I think the Astros need a make over. Keep the good players and grab a couple great ones. I would like to see my Rangers have a good rivalry with the Astros rather then Houston being the leagues secondary farm system.
 
Hmm, down 3-0 at one point we have come back to lead 7-4. About time we play some actual baseball and start putting the ball in play...

How about Roberts? What a quality 3rd baseman in the clutch.

Roberts has been excellent in the field lately, not so much hitting. (although he's doing better) I'm only watching the MLB.com Gameday thing so I didn't see the error.

Edit: They just uploaded the video clip. Looked like he just couldn't get a handle on it.

My team managed a win today surprisingly. They say you can't score off of the Cincinnati bullpen. Well I guess today was the aberration.

Tree'd by the Rockies fan. Today HASN'T been a day for pitchers.
 
That was the weirdest game evar. There was fricken bee delay for God sakes.
 
ALMOST a no-hitter that turned into a 5-3 win for Pittsburgh. James McDonald's no-no was broken up in the 6th inning.

Meanwhile Atlanta's Brandon Beachy got a CG Shutout vs. the Miami Marlins.
 
The Astros swept the Brewers even after taking a sweep of our own. We got it done a shutout- 4-0. It was the work of 13 Astros hits and one error. Milwaukee got eight hits and two errors. I'm figuring we'll get our asses handed to by the Rangers, so I won't be mad if we get swept or lose a few games (unless there are games we could/should/would have won) in the Astros/Rangers series. The Saturday night match even will be in prime time on FOX- meaning our failing chances will be magnified since Houston sports teams often have a tough time trying to win on national TV. Going to be a rough weekend, but I certainly hope we can win at least one game against Texas in our six games. Otherwise... I'm thinking we'll lose three straight heading into our home series against the Cubs.

I want to send a shout out to the Diamondbacks for just hanging on to win 9-7 in Denver. Congratulations to all other winners from today's games and tonight's games.
 
Almost every team is ready for Interleague play. I think the only(?) non-Interleague match is St. Louis at the Los Angeles Dodgers. This match will be the ESPN Sunday Night Baseball game for the week. Here in Houston, it's the match that will be an AL West conference battle next year- Rangers at Astros. I'm expecting Texas to hammer us hard, but we'll do our best to suppress the boys from Arlington.

We might get Chris Young back on the roster today. Hopefully..... :nervous:

We failed. It was 4-1 in favor of the Rangers. Our throwback uniforms did nothing to give us any extra luck against the Rangers. Astros basically got thrown back and taken for a ride tonight. The effort for Texas was eleven hits with no errors. We managed four hits with no errors. Back at it Saturday night for Game 2 of 3 of this series.


Finally, I wish Kerry Wood well outside of baseball, as he retired at the age of 34 and in spending 12 of his 14 pro years with the Chicago Cubs. How will you remember Kerry Wood?

Rangers played well but had a few missed opportunities throughout. Feliz's command was off but he could afford a mistake or two against the Astros lineup. Overall, good game, but Hamilton needs to get more homers to hold up that triple crown lead. To be honest I had no idea Kerry Wood was still playing...I'm a bad person I know.

Verlander ALMOST had another no-no last night. Gave up a splintered bat hit in the 9th. Man that was exciting to watch. Best pitcher in baseball by far and it's no contest, from a Tiger fan point of view :sly:

Kerry Wood retired yesterday after recording a strikeout. Good for him on a good career derailed by injuries. Everyone wondered just good he could be after having that 20 strikeout game way back when. He was a good pitcher that never seemed to have a season without an injury.

Diamondbacks are once again making an average pitcher look like hall of fame material. And on national TV no less. :rolleyes:

:) Just think where they could be without all the blown saves.

On the Brett Lawrie suspension, I was amazed on a number of counts:
-the umpiring which started the incident. In a word, woeful
-he claimed that the helmet hit the ump on a bad hop. Come on, it would have needed an odd hop to MISS the ump from that range
-he was only suspended 4 games. Lets see someone bounce a football (NFL, MLS, EPL etc) off a ref and see what they get. Then I was told Alomar only got 5 games for spitting at an ump, so I guess its realtive.
-he had the balls to appeal it, but I guess that was to delay the suspension so he could play NY.

I was at the NY game on Wednesday, sitting pretty close to 3B, and it was pretty funny to hear some of the comments from the crowd.
Good to see Bautista hitting some homers too, even if he is still batting .200ish
